Mophie expected to release battery pack for the Samsung Galaxy S3

For iPhone users, Mophie is a company you’re probably familiar with and is more or less synonymous with battery packs that help extend the iPhone’s battery life. Well the good news is that Mophie is looking to expand beyond the iPhone and at IFA, the company revealed a battery pack designed for Samsung’s flagship phone, the Galaxy S3. Design and specs of the battery pack were apparently not finalized at that time, but supposedly it has the ability to double the battery life on the stock battery of the Galaxy S3. No word on when we might be able to expect this battery pack, nor its pricing, but it’s probably an accessory that some Galaxy S3 owners are probably looking forward to – are you one of them?

Mophie readies Galaxy S III Juice Packs, coming very soon

If you thought Mophie was planning to keep its smartphone Juice Packs exclusively Apple-based — we’d have probably agreed with you. But then we got to take a look at this pair of cases crafted for Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Yep, the battery-packing cover (which looks likely to fit all the current iterations) promises to give “over double the battery life” of your un-augmented handset. This was just a brief peek — but expect the (as-yet unpriced) cases to appear in stores around the end of October, early November.

Mophie Outride ruggedized action case for iPhone hands-on

Mophie Outride ruggedized action case for iPhone handson

Sure, you’ve been tempted to strap your iPhone to that ski helmet for a homemade action cam solution, but ultimately, you respect Apple’s warranty, as limited as it may be. Mophie’s new Outride ruggedized case equips your fragile smartphone with a ruggedized shell, protecting the device while also serving as a helmet / bicycle / flat-surface mount. The thick plastic case includes a raised lens module, and is available in both water-resistant and above ground flavors. That first version is still undergoing testing, according to Mophie reps, so we don’t know just how far it can dunk with letting down its guard to condensation, but we do know that it will retail for $149. A land-only version will also be available for $129, and unlike the sealed model, your iPhone’s display will still be exposed, giving you full access to the device. Both cases include a dedicated shutter release, which works in camera mode, letting you snap away under the sea. They also ship with a trio of mounts for your helmet, handle bars or a flat surface. Catch a closer look at Outride in the gallery below.

Mophie Outride Protects Your iPhone During Action Photography

Whatever sports or activities you’re into, it’s often nice to be able share your exploits with others via video. For many people who are into auto sports, bicycling, motocross, or other activities where there’s a high chance of falling or crashing ruggedized cameras specifically for the task are the norm. Rather than spending money on something like a GoPro camera, mophie has announced a new iPhone case that will do the trick for you called the Outride.

mophie outride

The Outride is a polycarbonate case for the iPhone 4 and 4S that is ruggedized and waterproof. The case is durable enough to survive crashes and drops and water resistant enough to film water sports. The case has a 170° wide-angle lens designed specifically to capture action shots. The case also comes with an app that allows the editing and sharing videos taken using the iPhone and the case, though it’s not clear what advantages it offers over the iPhone’s built in camera app or iMovie.

Expected this September, the Outride case will sell in bundles priced at $129.95 up to $149.95 (USD). Presumably, the difference in bundles will be based on the type of mounts included.

mophie Outride lets you capture those adrenaline pumping moments with your iPhone

So you are a proud owner of an iPhone, are you not? While the device is nice to look at and use, it is not exactly the most rugged smartphone out there in the market. This means bringing it along with you whenever you go skateboarding or want to perform some crazy stunts with your pair of in-line skates is not such a good idea, unless the iPhone itself has some sort of extra rugged protective case. Of course, recording your daredevil experiences would also require you to purchase a rugged camera which can be mounted onto a helmet, but why spend good money on that when an add-on like the mophie Outride costs a fraction of that money?

The mophie Outride, in a nutshell, is a hardware and app solution that places the power to record and share tricks, tracks, rides, and epic moments in the hands of action land and water sports enthusiasts, but they will need to own an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S beforehand. At least you no longer need to purchase a dedicated video camera, but rather, use the mophie Outride to record your latest daredevil exploits. Fret not for the mophie Outride’s durability, as it is waterproof and impact resistant while sporting a range of custom mounts to capture action shots in the surf, snow, dirt or concrete.

Ross Howe, vice president of marketing at mophie, said, “With the ever-growing action sports market, and our success in developing ruggedized products for those rough-and-tough tech users, we felt we were ready to design and develop a product that would take the iPhone and its camera capabilities to its limits. While the action sports community has a lot of camera and video options to choose from, they weren’t able to share their moments with the community in real time. OUTRIDE gives the action sports community these capabilities in a durable, compact, quality and cost-efficient way.”

What are some of the advantages of using the iPhone 4S or iPhone 4 alongside the mophie Outride as the action sports camera of choice? It will be able to let you review your own footage or shots, share those moments and follow others in the community, all in a jiffy – as long as there is a decent Internet connection at that point in time, that is. Available from the middle of September onwards, the mophie Outride will come in different bundles that will cost you anywhere from $129.95 to $149.95.

The company has now announced a new case and mounting system that will turn the iPhone into a rugged and waterproof sports camera. The case is called the Mophie Outride. The Outride is more than a rugged case; it also includes an application that allows the user to edit and share video directly from the iPhone.

The case is waterproof and impact resistant and it ships with a variety of mounts to work for capturing video in numerous settings from the water to dirt and concrete. The case is designed to work with the iPhone 4 or 4S. The Mophie Outrider iPhone case will help capture those extreme moments

If you’ve always wanted to be able to capture those epic moments while surfing the waves but would rather not hire someone to film you, or invest in a waterproof camera, fret not as Mophie has revealed the Outride iPhone accessory. As pictured above, the Outride is a casing for the iPhone that not only will protect it from getting wet, but will also come with a mounting system and a wide-angle lens to capture those action shots/videos. It is made from polycarbonate and will offer high-impact protection for those who plan to use it for more extreme-type sports. To top it off, Mophie has also announced that they will be launching a free app alongside the Outride. This app is basically a social networking app where videographers can create a profile and upload videos taken and share them with other users. The Outride will be priced at $130 and will be compatible with the iPhone 4/4S and is expected to be up for grabs mid-September.

Mophie's Outride turns iPhones into action cameras, comes with dedicated app and starts at $130

There’s no doubt iPhone accessories are a dime a dozen nowadays, but every now and then we come across one or two that vigorously stand out from the rest of the peripheral pack. Here’s where Mophie’s newly introduced Outride comes in, which clearly — and as the company’s quick to point out — takes a heavy cue from GoPro’s action shooters. All inspirations aside, though, the Outride iPhone companion’s pretty well-stacked on its own, with Mophie offering an integrated polycarbonate case / mounting system that features waterproof and high-impact protection to help the daring folk during those intense, rush-filled adventures. Additionally, Mophie’s taking things beyond the hardware and also announced a free application to pair alongside the Outride unit; this will give people a place where they can create a profile and share their video recordings with other riders. The outfit’s pricing the iPhone 4 / 4S accessory starting at a peaceable $130, and it should be up for grabs around “mid-September.” In the meantime, there’s an extra pic and PR right after the break, for anyone interested in catching a different view and the conclusive word from the Juice Pack maker.
