For decades, the film industry has relied on the 35mm film to capture and distribute their movies to cinemas around the world. However it looks like that will soon change as reports have surfaced, claiming that Paramount could be the first major studio to send their major movies to American theaters in digital format, and that future releases by the studio will all be in digital. While the digital format has been around for a while now, many studios have been hesitant to make the switch to the format completely as the film format is still a popular choice amongst film purists, and also the fact that not all theaters have digital equipment, so by disregarding some theaters, studios could stand to lose a fair amount of money.
The semi-good news is that Paramount will continue producing film but they will be sent to other parts of the world, such as Latin America and other markets where most theaters rely on film to screen their movies. It is expected that eventually studios will make the switch to digital as it is clearly a cheaper alternative compared to film, where a disc could cost less than $100 compared to $2,000 for film prints. As it stands, about 8% of US theaters do not have the necessary equipment to show digital films, meaning that these theaters will be forced to upgrade or risk closure.

I like a good prank, especially when its played on unsuspecting people on the streets. something about strangers getting the crap scared out of them in public makes me smile. A new movie is coming out soon called Devil’s Due, and to promote the film Thinkmodo created a horrific baby to prank passersby.
The creepy animatronic baby was put inside a stroller. Both stroller and baby are remote controlled and the little devil can pop up and shoot milk out of its mouth Linda Blair style. You have to watch the video yourself, so I won’t give any more away:
Needless to say, people scare easily. That is until the devil baby rolls up on the trash man, he doesn’t even blink. Clearly, he is someone that has seen it all.

Magic: The Gathering fans have something to get excited about now. It looks like Fox is adapting the game into a film. According to THR, “20th Century Fox has closed a deal to acquire the screen rights to the hugely popular fantasy card game from Hasbro and will develop the property with an eye to launch a massive franchise on the scale of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.”
More good news is that it’s going to have some hands-on involvement from Wizards of the Coast president Greg Leeds and Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner. So that should be a good thing, though I can’t help but have the feeling that this could be just another terrible game franchise adaptation. Anyone who has been around the block knows what I mean.
Fox producer Simon Kinberg, who worked on both the X-Men and Fantastic Four universes, will work closely with Hasbro in developing the franchise, so hopefully that will help.

If you have ever watched Game of Thrones on HBO, you’re probably familiar with Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi herself, played by Emilia Clarke. Word is that she will next be playing a pivotal roll in one of the coolest sci-fi movie franchises ever, Terminator.
Clarke will reportedly be playing Sarah Connor. The choice of Clarke for the part makes sense considering that Terminator: Genesis is being directed by Alan Taylor, who is heavily involved with Game of Thrones. According to IMDB, the role of John Connor will be played by Jason Clarke (Brotherhood, Zero Dark Thirty) with Arnold returning to the franchise.
This is particularly interesting to me since Lena Headey played Sarah Connor on the short lived, underrated Fox series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, since Headey plays Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. I wonder if Arnold will play the Terminator in the new film, he’s a bit old and not as ripped as he was in the 80′s. Why not keep it in the Game of Thrones Family and get Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo to be the Terminator?

The trailer for the next big super hero movie has landed. The first official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has launched giving us an idea what Spider-Man will go through this time out. It appears that he will be fighting a much more potent enemy in the form of Electro – played by Jamie Foxx.
Since I never read the comic books, I am always curious what each of the villains can do. The trailer also hints that Peter will find out what happened to his parents this time out. The scene where Peter finds his father’s old lab is particularly interesting.
We also get a look at a bit of Rhino in a giant mech suit (and a tiny Paul Giamatti inside). I don’t want to give too much away, so check out the trailer for yourself. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters in May 2014.

When it comes to video games being turned into movies, it is not often that blockbusters arrive on the silver screen. Rather, it is more or less the case of the movie bombing, while the game itself continues to make tons of money. Remember Mortal Kombat? How about Super Mario Bros.? Even Mario’s widespread appeal could not prevent a box office bomb. Well, Sony does have a pretty decent movie studio, and their forays into Spiderman have proven to be rather lucrative in the past, so they might be casting an eye on turning video games into movies as well. We have seen the Need for Speed trailer before, and before you know it, Sony has been seen registering the domain name for The Last Of Us.
thelastofusmovie.net is now under the care of Sony, which would no doubt spark off plenty of speculation that there is a film version of the extremely cinematic PS3 exclusive coming our way. Of course, it might just be a purchase made on the defensive front for all you know, but I would like to think that Sony has a bunch of far more viable money making plans than this down the road. What do you think?
