Nothing fills out a week full of things being on fire like the Internet Archive headquarters burning in a fire. The blaze, which took place earlier this week, was not catastrophic and no one was harmed, but the San Francisco nonprofit is asking for $600,000 in emergency donations from the public to pay for the […]
With movies you’ve already seen, sitting through the whole thing again is a little bit much. Since you already know what’s going to happen, you only need to see a few key sequences to get the same amount of enjoyment. A quick top off as opposed to a full refill, you know? Reddit understood that and developed a whole new genre of animated gifs: the full movie GIF, an entire movie distilled into a GIF shot.
It’s true. Even if you’re dealing with the brilliant Dark Knight or fantastic Iron Man or the good times of Thor, all superhero movies pretty much boil down to the same thing: an established hero fighting a lunatic bad guy to prevent the destruction of some version of New York City with epic fight scenes and long death scenes galore. Slacktory nails this perfectly in their hilarious video How to make a superhero in 10 easy steps.
Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters on December 18th, 2015, LucasFilm has announced, the contentious new part of the iconic series, to be directed by J.J. Abrams. “We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said today, “where it will not […]
Disney certainly isn’t letting up when it comes to capitalizing on the likes of one of their most popular brands: Marvel Comics. Today they’ve announced that they’re set to unleash a brand new series of live-action television show episodes with Netflix, the whole lot centered on the section of New York called Hell’s Kitchen. As […]
"The first 45 minutes or so are quite spectacularly executed," says io9’s Lauren Davis but, ultimately, the new us-vs-them space war movie Ender’s Game is "not heart-breaking" and rushes the viewer to "its moral about compassion in times of war."

The monster in a horror movie is scary, sure. But an eerie setting is just as important. Fortunately just about anywhere can be freaky as hell when you’re alone in the dark
Bing’s still the underdog in the search engine wars; remaining in perpetual second place to Google. And while it’s doubtful that Microsoft will ever win the overall search engine war, today Bing totally wins the Halloween
Earlier today, the trailer of the upcoming ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ has been released and it is already a hit (hardly surprising). The embedded video alone has already gathered nearly 2M views at the time of publishing, so you can imagine what the aggregate number of view must be all over the world on all sites and channels.
In the trailer, we can see a number of familiar faces, including most of the original cast of X-Men, along with a handful of newcomers. The new movie seems to be a mix of things happening in the future and the past, with Wolverine’s “mind” being sent back in time in order to reach young professor Xavier.
Frankly, I’m not going to describe every detail of the trailer, but I recommend watching it. If you want an analysis that is nice to read, I recommend checking what Darren Franich has to say, it’s a good read. Enjoy!
