Sometimes when you need a Terminator, a crazy puppet backpack will do
The JOBS movie starring Ashton Kutcher is seeing a theatrical release today, allowing the general public to finally see the highly-anticipated film on the big screen since being teased with it constantly for the past several months. However, if movie theaters aren’t your thing, JOBS will be coming to Netflix next year in the spring. […]
As much as the original Star Wars was a revolution in filmmaking that gave birth to the summer blockbuster, it was also responsible for the idea of marketing and merchandising the crap out of a film property. It all started with a hastily-designed line of action figures and toys that collectors are still desperate to snatch up. And if you were young enough to remember a Boba Fett figure that never actually fired rockets, you’ll probably love Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys.
This fall is just packed with movie goodness. A lot of the year’s most ambitious films are coming out in the next four months. Including huge space epics, massive franchise pictures… and Marvel’s first post-Avengers movie without Iron Man in it. Here’s our prognosis for 20 upcoming science fiction and fantasy movies.
If you love Blade Runner (and how could you not), you’ve just got to have a soft-spot for old-school games (and how could you not). This little masterpiece proves that they’re two great tastes that taste great together.
Honda intros Project Drive-In to save outdoor movies through digital projectors (video)
Posted in: Today's ChiliDrive-in theaters outlasted VHS tapes, but they may not survive the transition to digital-only movies — many drive-ins can’t afford the professional digital projectors they need to stay in business. Honda wants to give those outdoor venues a second chance through its new Project Drive-In rescue effort. At a minimum, the endeavor will donate digital projectors to five theaters based on web voting; further donations will depend on the results of an Indiegogo fundraising campaign. While there’s no guarantee that Honda can save a drive-in near you, it may be worth chipping in to preserve some classic Americana through modern technology.

Depending on where you stand as a fan of Star Wars, Star Wars Episode I, II and III either destroyed everything you believed in humanity or were never actually real movies to begin with. But what if in an alternate universe (possibly far far away) that trilogy was actually, like, good? I know, hard to imagine. But it’s possible! Belated Media imagined how to make Star Wars: Episode II good and it actually sounds quite fantastic.

This is fantastic. The Nerdwriter Evan Puschak created this killer compilation video that stitched together last shots of different blockbuster movie trailers. You know that last scene. Spectacular explosions, beautiful screaming heads, tense as hell sequences and probably an Inception horn thrown in. It’s the scene that if successful, leaves you gasping for air and memorizing when the movie comes out. So putting all those scenes together is like seeing the ultimate blockbuster. Take my money. Give me more.
