Haven’t you always wished that Bruno Ganz and Charlie Chaplin could co-star in something other than your dreams? Now, they are—along with almost a thousand other iconic actors and actresses. Check out the mind-boggling trailer from Final Cut, the world’s first feature-length film snipped entirely from other movies.
So here we have 15 minutes worth of behind the scenes footage from Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming "postapocalyptic" movie Elysium. I mean, this is basically the entire movie, which doesn’t open until August 9! Does the studio know about this?
Back in June, Netflix announced that it would be rolling out individual user profiles at some point over the summer, and today they’ve done just that. The company is finally ready to release a feature for its streaming service that many users have been dreaming about for awhile now, and it’s finally here. Individual profiles […]
This is so fun. Amazing Lego artist Nick Desimone recreated famous movies and TV shows using Lego bricks. The minimalist style of his work will sometimes make you second guess yourself but Desimone’s art is such a perfect imagination of the movies that you’ll eventually see what he wants you to see.
When you’ve grown up with a movie since you were a kid, its characters can seem just as close and familiar to you as your own family. Maybe even more so, since they’re frozen in time. Which is why these early concept images of some of our most iconic cinematic friends are so jarring. That is not the Chewy we’re looking for.
Movie studios are betting you’re crazy impulsive when it comes to picking what movie you want to watch. Apparently, many movie titles are selected purely on alphabetical prioritization, so that they’ll pop up higher on your on demand menu. If your movie isn’t good art, you’ve got to make an art out of the business side of filmmaking.
Trask Industries never looked better as the marketing push for X-Men: Days of Future Past begin with an ominous look at Sentinels. These robotic beasts are part of several X-Men storylines, here appearing in a 50 years of innovation video that once again pinpoints the timeline for this next bit of action in the Marvel Universe. While one storyline will sit squarely in the present, the other will take place 11 years after X-Men: First Class.
This trailer and viral marketing campaign video was released early today in an effort to stoke excitement for the upcoming comic book movie. While this installment doesn’t reveal just one whole heck of a lot of information about the film itself, we can see plainly the connections between this system and that of Skynet, the automaton-making company from the Terminator film series.
Back in 1973 we’ll see the beginning of the Trask Industries company – fast forward to 2013 we’ll see nothing short of a full-blown war.
We’ve seen a glimpse of these machines in their most massive form in the movie X-Men: The Last Stand, the good guys having a go at one in the Danger Room (the team’s holographic training room), Wolverine chopping one’s head off after a toss by Colossus. It would appear that the smaller iterations of the robots will be appearing here in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“Founded by Bolivar Trask in 1967, Trask Industries was built on the philosophy of advancing human progress through technology and genetics. Our early research led to the revolutionary development of DNA-Generated Prosthetics. Since then, Trask Industries has taken the lead in genetics-based defense technology with our Mutant Detection Device and Sentinel program.”
“We’ve partnered with international governments to ensure that any threat to human extinction is preemptively neutralized. With Trask Industries, you can rest assured that the future of humanity is in safe hands.” – Trask Inudstries Viral Site
There’s also a Trask Industries viral site that delivers on some additional plot points. They detail the Sentinel itself (generation 9, Mark 1), along with the Mutant Detection Device and the Inhibitor Collar – for controlling dangerous mutants.
Perhaps best of all, we get to have a peek at none other than Bolivar Trask himself, played by everyone’s favorite Game of Thrones royal, Peter Dinklage. If anyone can pull off the devil that is Trask, it’s Dinklage.

Color temperature is critical component of how we perceive a photograph or a slice of film. (It’s that whole "white balance" thing we nerds are always blabbing about.) As this video explains, we often don’t even notice the ways in which an image’s color temperature affects us. When directors are playing with color, they’re playing with your emotions.
It’s not every day you see a character made so inextricably tied to the first actor to play him that he cannot be seen as his human self, but so it is with Leonard Nimoy and his Spock – and he owns it. So much that his “LLAP” following the Twitter update that tips the release date for the next Star Trek movie can basically be taken for gospel truth. That and the double-confirmation (or simple hearty suggestion_ from Star Trek Into Darkness producer Bryan Burk from earlier this year suggesting that the date tipped by Nimoy would, indeed, be an ideal time for the third film (in this new generation) to premiere.
For those of you that are hardcore Star Trek fans, you know exactly what Sept. 8, 2016 means to your chosen devotion. That’s the 50th Anniversary of the very first broadcast of the Star Trek television show. Every September 8th, Star Trek fans around the world either head out to their local Star Trek convention to meet with local Trekkies and toss up their Vulcan greetings of good will or simply sit at home for a marathon for several days straight.
Last year Google even got in on the celebration with a cool doodle that integrated the letters of the search giant’s logo.
While Nimoy’s suggestion may not be as solid a suggestion as one might hope for a cross-breed between a third film and the 50th anniversary of the 60′s television show, one thing is certain: on a Golden Anniversary such as this, Starfleet will be out in numbers.

We’ve been hearing rumblings recently about a Gran Turismo-themed movie, but hot on the heels of those rumors is confirmation from Sony that such a movie is, in fact, “being made.” The 16-year-long racing series for the PlayStation is one of the most popular racing game franchises in the world, and it seems Sony wants to take advantage of that fact.
Speaking with Joystiq, an unnamed Sony Computer Entertainment UK spokesperson said that a Gran Turismo movie is “being made,” but that’s unfortunately all the details that they provided. Rumor is that The Social Network producers Michael de Luca and Dana Brunetti are on board for the racing film, and Sony Pictures executives Elizabeth Cantillon, Devon Franklin, and Hannah Minghella will be in charge.
However, the spokesperson didn’t confirm these details, so those are still up in the air at this point, and that simple confirmation leaves the door wide open as for what to expect from the movie. We know that a Need for Speed film is on the way, but it looks rather juvenile and not true to the actual racing industry.
We feel that the Gran Turismo movie will be more true and fitting to what actual racing looks like. As long as it doesn’t have explosions and far-fetched car crashes, I think it’ll be fine. The Gran Turismo series has always been one of the only true racing simulators out there, and we think Sony will take that vibe and put it into the movie without a problem. Until the release of the movie, enjoy the Gran Turismo 6 trailer above.
