There’s really only one reason to see the new Superman movie: to watch people with superhuman powers pounding the crap out of each other, flying into each other and burninating each other with heat vision. Luckily, The Man of Steel more than delivers on the super-punching front, even as it muddles through in other ways.
There’s a very good chance that if you’re a fan of Star Trek, you’re also a fan of video games. And even if you didn’t grow up in a time when 8-bit graphics were mind-blowing, it’s still easy to love this condensed re-telling of J.J. Abram’s first Star Trek movie as told via the original NES.
It’ll be several more months until this film will be able to be seen in full, but here the film 300: Rise of an Empire begins its march with a full-length trailer. No teaser trailer, no news release for a teaser – straight into a two minute and thirty second epic. Here we’ll have essentially

Studio Ghibli – Kaze Tachinu – new Hayao Miyazaki movie, “Kaze Tachinu”, to be out in 1.5 months – Voice actors have been determined, including Evangelion series Director, Hideaki Anno
Posted in: Today's ChiliWe know there are many fans of Ghibli movies out there who have had a long, patient wait for a new movie from Director Hayao Miyazaki. His new movie, “Kaze Tachinu”, will be released on July 20 in Japan.
It’s an animation movie about the life of Jiro Horikoshi. He had dreamed of becoming a designer of airplanes and finally made his dream come true. However, the time was around World War II and what he created was a famous fighter aircraft A6M “Zero” to kill people. The movie will show his life and inner conflict.
Studio Ghibli already announced that Hideaki Anno, who is best known as film director of the Evangelion series, will play the leading voice part of Jiro. Other famous and popular actors/actresses have also joined the cast as voice actors.
If Microsoft’s unveil event for the Xbox One last month didn’t give you the clue that the company is focused on non-game entertainment for their new console, then maybe this will make you understand. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer reportedly went to Hollywood in order to get studios excited about the Xbox One, with the goal
This week the folks responsible for promoting the upcoming film Pacific Rim have done a bit of spilling from behind the scenes as well as right up in front of the cameras. What you’re about to see is this film’s essence, with several characters wearing futuristic space suits doing battle with monster beasts from the sea. This upcoming film event is being directed by Guillermo del Toro and will appearing in both 2D and 3D as soon as July 12th.
The movie will be rated PG-13, which is a bummer for those of you wishing to see Dredd-style massacres, beast style, but the action within should settle stomaches nonetheless. The images pushed today show Halo-style suits, mech battles, and machines so big they could pinch a helicopter.
While it’s obvious this movie won’t be entirely serious – we’re talking about massive Japanese creatures from the ocean, after all – it’s sure to be a hoot. In one image you’ll see some Sin City-style mixes of comic-style environment with live-action humans in the center, while in another shows lightening cracking from the sky when the first whale-beast approaches.
This film is coming in with a plot that’s about as thick as the budget is sure to be, starting with a war with “legions” of monsters called Kaiju rising from the sea and the humans meant to protect us fighting them off with tower-sized robots called Jaegers.
With a completely strange combination of actors from Charlie Day (from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) to Ron Perlman and back to Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi, there’s more than a little chance that this film will be a cult classic. This film is being released by Warner Bros. Pictures and will be coming to 2D, 3D, and IMAX theaters near you.

My brain hates first-person games, so most of the stuff I’ve read and seen about the Oculus Rift don’t really interest me. But I’d be willing to buy the Rift just for Joo-Hyung Ahn’s VR Cinema 3D. It’s an app for the Rift that lets you watch videos in 3D while you’re inside a virtual movie theater.
As Ben Kuchera described at the Penny-Arcade Report, VR Cinema 3D doesn’t just let you watch videos on an enormous 3D screen. It lets you move around the theater. You can change seats and perhaps even faff about, fall asleep and ignore the movie altogether. The way Kuchera describes it, Joo Hyung-An seems to have captured the perspective of being in a cinema so well: your perspective of the screen changes accordingly when you move around, and the theater is believably dark and spacious. It’s a happy place for introverts and claustrophobes.
Those of you who have a development unit of the Rift can use VR Cinema 3D for free. Head to Joo Hyung-An’s website and click on the ‘Projects’ header to see the download link.
