The folks over at LG have done it yet again, where they intend to wow the world with a new set of smartphones, with the venue of choice being Mobile World Congress that is happening at Barcelona, Spain, later this month. There will be key elements of LG’s design heritage implemented across all various facets of the visually striking L Series III smartphones. Sporting a seamless layout, delicate finishing, refined metallic frame and Quick Window smart cover, all of these will be amalgamated together perfectly. Quick Window that will arrive in a trio of vibrant colors, will be the first cover from LG which has been specially designed for a mid-range smartphone. Quick Window would also deliver functional benefits that go beyond mere protection from drops and bumps, as the presence of this see-through window would enable one to check out just who is making a call, at the same time figure out the current time without having to open up the cover.
All of the L Series III models will be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice, which would definitely place it in good stead with the rest of the market. LG hopes that by throwing in Android 4.4 KitKat into these handsets, it will be able to deliver the most up-to-date and optimized Android experience across a broader audience. In
If you happen to drop by Mobile World Congress that is about to kick off shortly, you will be able to experience the first three L Series III smartphones, where they are the L40, L70, and L90. The L90 will obviously be the “flagship” model among the three, sporting a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.7″ IPS qHD (960 x 540 resolution) display, 8GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back with a 1.3-megapixel shooter in front, and a 2,540mAh removable battery.
There is also the LG L70, which will come with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.5″ IPS display, 4GB of internal memory and 1GB RAM, while sporting an 8-megapixel shooter at the back with another camera in front. Last but not least, the L40 is pretty much your average entry level device, and we do not have details on their pricing at this point in time.

If the rumors are to be believed, Samsung could announce a new Galaxy Gear 2 alongside the Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014 at their Unpacked 5 event. We have also heard how Samsung could have multiple Galaxy Gear models apart from just the Galaxy Gear 2, and now according to a new rumor from the Korean media, it has been suggested that at least one of the Galaxy Gear variants will be called the Galaxy Gear Fit. Based on its name alone, we can tell that it is going to be some kind of fitness-related accessory. However with the Galaxy Gear already sporting some fitness features, what would make the rumored Galaxy Gear Fit any different?
Well for starters, it seems that the device will be more of a fitness band that would compete against the likes of Fitbit, Jawbone, and the Nike FuelBand. The device will allow users to track physical activity such as steps, distance run, and so on, and will reportedly also be able to monitor the user’s sleep. The rumors also claim that Samsung will be losing the integrated camera which could ultimately help to keep the price down. It sounds like a good idea and we guess it can’t hurt to have more fitness band alternatives in the market. Either way do check back with us on the 24th of February for all the details. In the meantime would any of you guys be interested in a Samsung fitness band?

Come 24th of February, Samsung will be hosting its Unpacked 5 event in which we can only assume the Samsung Galaxy S5 handset will be announced. While most of its features have been “confirmed”, it seems that Samsung could be taking some cues from Sony as well as their own Galaxy S4 Active by introducing features like being waterproof and dustproof, or at least that’s what the rumors claim. Now thanks to a new trailer released by Samsung for its upcoming Unpacked event, there are certain images and keywords thrown in there that would seem to suggest that those rumored features could be very real.
For example keywords like “wet” and “outdoor” would seem to suggest that the phone might have those protective features we talked about. There are also additional keywords like “focus” and “selfie” which are probably hints at the Samsung Galaxy S5’s camera. According to a recent announcement by Samsung, it has been hinted that the Galaxy S5 could pack a new camera flash unit that would be more natural, as opposed to current flash units which typically result in photos with very harsh lighting. Then again we might be reading more into this than we should, but either way we guess we will learn more come MWC 2014, so do check back with us then, especially if the Galaxy S5 is high on your shopping list.

Huawei MediaPad X1 Photos Leaked
Posted in: Today's ChiliWe expect that MWC 2014 will contain a wealth of announcement regarding handsets from manufacturers all around the world, and Huawei is one of them. Based on what we know so far, the company is set to announce a smartwatch, the Ascend P7, any maybe the Huawei Ascend D3. That being said, it seems that we can expect Huawei to unveil the MediaPad X1 whose photo we saw not too long ago pictured alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 where its whopping 7-inch display completely dwarfed the phablet.
Now thanks to additional leaked photos, we are looking at newer pictures of the upcoming phablet where we can get a glimpse at its software, along with an accessory which sort of acts like Samsung’s S View case which will display a special screen when closed. In this case it will display the time. In terms of specs, a recent trip to China’s FAA has revealed that it will pack a quad-core HiSilicon 910 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a 7-inch 1920×1200 display, and a whopping 6,000mAh battery. It will also come with LTE and telephone capabilities, for those who have no qualms about putting a 7-inch device next to their ear. Either way we hope to learn more at MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details.

With MWC 2014 taking place next week, we guess Archos did a smart thing by announcing several of their products ahead of the event, thus ensuring that it will be getting a fair amount of attention, versus launching it at the event itself where it might be overshadowed by other product announcements. So far we’ve seen the Archos 80 Helium 4G tablet and the 40b Titanium smartphone designed for music lovers, and now we have the Archos 50c Oxygen and 64 Xenon smartphones that were also recently announced by the company. We’re sure many of us use our phones to play music, and for the most part it sounds alright. Of course it matters what kind of earphones and headphones you use, along with the type of file (whether it’s just MP3 or a lossless format like FLAC), and yes sometimes it does matter what device you are using to play it. Audiophiles can get picky when it comes to choosing a media player as the sound processing engine does play a part in replicating good sound quality as well, and while we can’t speak for Archos’ 40b Titanium yet, this is a device that the company has announced that will be aimed at the music lover in mind.
According to Archos, the 40b Titanium will feature an “enhanced audio system” and will also pack dual-front facing speakers to deliver “crystal clear and pure stereo sound”, which in a way reminds us of the HTC One and its front-facing stereo speakers. Apart from those features meant to appeal to music enthusiasts, the 40b Titanium isn’t much when it comes to hardware. It will pack a dual-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of onboard storage. It will also come with a 5MP camera, a VGA front camera, a 1,400mAh battery with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Then again with its price tag of just £100, it doesn’t seem too bad, does it?

Archos 80 Helium 4G Tablet Unveiled
Posted in: Today's ChiliArchos is a brand we’re sure many of you guys are familiar with by now. In the past we’ve seen the company release a variety of tablets and smartphones, and it looks like at MWC 2014, we can expect to learn more about their products. Archos has recently announced a new tablet in the form of the 80 Helium 4G. According to Archos, they claim that the 80 Helium 4G will be the world’s first 8-inch 4G tablet that will be priced under £230. Those are some bold claims, but what sort of specs are we looking at if Archos can price it so low?
Well for starters the tablet will pack an 8-inch 1024×768 display. It will also be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8926 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, a 5MP rear-facing camera capable of 1080p Full HD video capture, a 2MP front-facing camera, 4G LTE support (obviously), Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS, a 3,500mAh battery with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running the show. No word on when exactly Archos will be releasing the 80 Helium 4G to the masses, but it will be later this year, although you can expect the tablet to be on display at MWC 2014.

Gold is somewhat an ostentatious color when it comes to electronic gadgets. After all its too bright, gaudy, and very loud, but little did we know that Apple would such a huge success with its gold iPhone 5s. That being said, it seems that not only does HTC want to replicate that success with a gold HTC M8, but possibly Samsung as well, thanks to an alleged leaked screenshot from Vodafone’s internal systems which reveals a gold colored Samsung Galaxy S5. Along with the listing for a gold Galaxy S5, the listing also reveals and thus “confirms” the gold HTC M8, as well as the gold iPhone 5s.
So what does this mean for customers? Does it mean that we can look forward to a gold Galaxy S5 right off the bat? In the past we have seen how companies such as Samsung has slowly allowed different color variants of its phones to be released, perhaps every few months or so. However with Vodafone listing the gold model so early, perhaps Samsung might be deploying a different strategy this time. Will HTC and Samsung be able to replicate Apple’s success with the gold iPhone? After all the phone was a hit in China where gold is culturally and symbolically looked upon in a good way, and while gold is naturally a sign of wealth, perhaps its importance will vary from market to market. Would you like a gold Samsung Galaxy S5?

So we sort of know that at MWC 2014, Nokia will be officially taking the wraps off its much rumored Android handset, the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X. In the meantime, rumors and leaks aside, Nokia has also been teasing its customers by turning its social media pages green, and in the latest teaser trailer for MWC 2014, Nokia has released a short clip in which an entire bunch of ducks can be seen in the water and are swimming towards a red traffic light. Did we mention that the ducks are green too? We’re not sure if there is any significance in the ducks, but the green is pretty telling as it looks like the same shade of green that Nokia has used with the Nokia X, at least based on press renders.
Let’s not forget that green is also the color of choice for the Android mascot, so that’s pretty telling as well. Hopefully when Nokia officially unveils the device, the ducks will start to make sense. It’s either that or that’s just some weird marketing on Nokia’s part. As a quick recap for our readers who might have forgotten, the Nokia X is a low-end Android device with a dual-core processor, a 800×480 touchscreen display, a 5MP camera, and will run on a forked version of Android which looks a lot like the tiled interface of Windows Phone. In the meantime what do you guys think these ducks mean?
