Dutch Retailer Lists Galaxy S5 With Full HD Display

Dutch Retailer Lists Galaxy S5 With Full HD DisplayWill the Samsung Galaxy S5 sport a QHD display? The rumors are certainly saying yes and a recent screenshot seems to have “confirmed” it as well. That being said, we’re sure we can look forward to Samsung officially confirming it come MWC 2014 where the South Korean tech giant will be holding their Unpacked 5 event. In the meantime it seems that one particular retailer from the Netherlands, Typhone, has listed the Samsung Galaxy S5 on its website in which the listing seems to confirm that the handset will pack a Full HD display, ultimately contradicting the previous rumors that we have heard so far.

There are times when retailers have been given the heads up ahead of an announcement so that they can prepare their launch pages and begin taking pre-orders as soon as possible, so at those times, retailers might know more than they are letting on. Then again sometimes retailers like to get a leg up on the competition by listing devices ahead of time, sort of to let customers know that they will be stocking it. In the case of Typhone, the latter might be more true and they could simply be listing those specs as placeholders based on speculation and rumor, rather than actual facts. Then again previous rumors have suggested Full HD resolution rather than QHD, but either way we’re not too far off from Samsung’s Unpacked 5 event where hopefully all will be revealed, so try not to read too much into this for now and check back with us on the 24th of February for the details!

Sony Xperia Z2 Caught On Video (Again)

Come MWC 2014, we expect Sony to unveil the Xperia Z2. The handset has been rumored about for a while now and has been leaked multiple times. In fact the last we saw, the Xperia Z2 was caught on camera, comparing it against the likes of the Xperia Z and the Xperia Z1. Given how well the Xperia Z and the Xperia Z1 were received, safe to say that expectations are high for the Xperia Z2. In any case thanks to a recent video released by Rimas Flyil, the Xperia Z2 has been caught on video and this time, unlike the previous video released by Flyil, this particular video is about 12 minutes long which basically gives us an extremely in-depth look at the handset.

For those hearing about the Xperia Z2 for the first time, the handset is expected to be the successor of the Xperia Z1 that was released back in 2013. It is also expected to be Sony’s flagship handset for 2014. In terms of specs, rumors are saying that we can look forward to a 5.2-inch display with a Full HD resolution, rather than QHD which seems to be what high-end flagship handsets are sporting this year. It has also been rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and a 20.7MP rear-facing camera with Sony’s Exmor RS sensor, with a 2.1MP front-facing for your selfies and video calls. No word on which version of Android it will come with, but chances are it will run Android 4.4 KitKat.

Alleged Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Specs Leaked

Alleged Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Specs LeakedAccording to the rumors, Sony could be set to unveil at new tablet at MWC 2014. We haven’t heard much about the device, but what we do know is that the device has been given the codename “Castor”. That being said, thanks to a recent tweet by @evleaks, the alleged specs of the Castor, or the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, have been revealed. According to @evleaks, it seems that we can look forward to a tablet with a 10.1-inch 1920×1200 Triluminos display. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset that has been clocked at 2.3GHz, and will come with 3GB of RAM.

In terms of storage, the Xperia Z2 Tablet will come with 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD. It will also pack an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The Xperia Z2 Tablet will also feature a sizeable 6,000mAh battery. It was back in 2013 that Sony unveiled their Xperia Tablet Z, so we guess it does not come as a shock to think that Sony might have a newer tablet in the works. The Xperia Tablet Z was a thing of beauty due to its size and thinness, not to mention its decent hardware specs that made its use a pretty good one, so it will be interesting to see if its successor will be able to live up to the expectations of customers.

LG Announces L90, L70, L40 Handsets Ahead Of MWC 2014

LG Announces L90, L70, L40 Handsets Ahead Of MWC 2014Just last week LG launched their latest handset in the form of the LG G Pro 2. LG’s decision to  announce the handset ahead of MWC was a smart move especially when considering that there will be too many devices at the event which might end up overshadowing their products. That being said, it seems that LG has also recently announced a trio of low-mid ranged smartphones which might appeal to those shopping on a budget in which the G Pro 2 might be a little of out their financial reach. The company has announced a trio of handsets in the form of the LG L90, L70, and the L40. Pricing and availability have yet to be determined, but hopefully more will be revealed at MWC 2014.

In any case for those wondering about the specs, the LG L90 is probably the best of the bunch. It will pack a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with a 4.7-inch qHD display with a resolution of 960×540. It will feature 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 2,540mAh removable battery. As for the LG L70 and L40, both devices will pack a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, but for the L70, it will feature a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 800×400, while the L40 will pack a 3.5-inch 480×320 display. The L70 will pack 1GB of RAM versus the L40’s 512MB, but both handsets will come with 4GB of default onboard storage. The L70 will also come with an 8MP rear-facing camera or a 5MP one depending on the market, while the L40 will pack a 3MP camera. However if there is one feature that all phones share is that they will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled.

    Alleged BlackBerry Jakarta/Z3 Render Leaked

Alleged BlackBerry Jakarta/Z3 Render LeakedWe have been hearing about the BlackBerry Jakarta for a while now. The handset is said to be the first of many devices to be made under the BlackBerry-Foxconn banner and is expected to be a budget device aimed at emerging markets, although how exactly it will look like remains to be seen, but what we do know is that it will not feature BlackBerry’s trademark physical QWERTY keyboard, but rather a full touchscreen which is surprising, a good surprise to be honest. That being said, that folks at N4BB have managed to get their hands on what is allegedly the rendering of the BlackBerry Jakarta, which might be known as the BlackBerry Z3 commercially.

As you can seen from the rendering above, the design of the handset looks pretty straightforward and while we cannot confirm the specs of the BlackBerry Z3, we can tell based on its render that it will sport a front-facing and back-facing camera with what appears to be an LED flash. It will also most likely run on the latest version of BlackBerry 10, which at the moment is the recently released BlackBerry 10.2.1. There’s no telling if this is the real deal, but according to the rumors, BlackBerry is expected to make an announcement at MWC 2014, so if you’d like to learn more about the Jakarta/Z3, be sure to check back with us then for the details. In the meantime what do you guys think of the phone? Pretty nicely designed for a supposed budget device, don’t you think?

Galaxy S5 Display QHD Resolution ‘Confirmed’

Galaxy S5 Display QHD Resolution Confirmed

For the past few months now have been constantly hearing rumors about Samsung Galaxy S5. Recently the company sent out invites for its Unpacked 5 event at the Mobile World Congress 2014 later this month, its expected to finally unveil Galaxy S5 there. Despite that, the rumors keep coming in. A new screenshot has surfaced which claims to “confirm” some rumors we have heard about Samsung’s next generation flagship, particularly about the Galaxy S5 display.

It has been rumored countless times that Galaxy S5 is going to have a 5.25 inch Quad HD 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution display, though recently contradicting rumors suggested that the flagship will actually retain the 1080p display found on the existing flagship, the Galaxy S4. As per this screenshot, the Galaxy S5 display is indeed the QHD juggernaut everyone expects it to be, offering aforementioned pixel resolution at 560 pixels per inch.

Since other options are not expanded, this screenshot doesn’t “confirm” other hardware specifications. From what we have heard up till now, and summarized in our Galaxy S5 rumor roundup, this smartphone will tout a Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB RAM, a 16 megapixel rear camera, a fingerprint scanner while running Android 4.4.2 under the hood. Samsung has kept mum about the Galaxy S5 and we don’t expect it to reveal anything prior to Unpacked 5, so all we can do right now is sit back and wait for the official word. HTC M8 Leaked Image Hints At Shiny Metallic Back

HTC M8 Leaked Image Hints At Shiny Metallic Back

There has been no shortage of HTC M8 leaked images, and given at the pace they keep coming in, it is quite possible that there won’t be a shortage until HTC makes the official announcement. The leaked images give us a glimpse of what to expect, and they also hint at a few changes that are expected to be made. HTC M8 is likely to come with dual rear cameras and a dual LED flash housed in an elliptical cutout. This is reiterated by the latest leaked image, which also shows off a very shiny metallic back, something that wasn’t present on its predecessor, the HTC One.

The HTC M8 leaked image comes from a Twitter account going by the @htcfamily_ru handle, this account has been behind several leaked images in the past as well. The smartphone’s edges also appear to be more curved than the HTC One, this should affect how the device feels in the user’s hands, and could compensate for the slightly larger display that might feel a bit foreign at first to existing HTC One owners. As always, it can not be said for sure that what we see here really is the HTC One’s successor, so its best to wait until an official announcement is made. The Taiwanese manufacturer is expected to finally unveil HTC M8 at Mobile World Congress 2014 later this month.

    Nokia Normandy/Nokia X Specs “Confirmed”

Nokia Normandy/Nokia X Specs ConfirmedIt is no secret that Nokia has an Android phone in the works called the Nokia Normandy, a surprising move by the Finnish company who is on the cusp of being acquired by Microsoft. That being said, what sort of hardware specs can we expect from the device? Based on previous rumors, it would suggest that the handset is a particularly low-end affair, which is surprising as we would have thought Nokia would have gone all out for their possibly one and only Android device. Unfortunately it looks like it will be a low-end handset, as it has been recently “confirmed” by @evleaks who revealed the specs of the handset on his Twitter account.

According to @evleaks, it seems that we can look forward to the Nokia Normandy packing a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a 1.500mAh battery. It will also run on a forked version of Android, similar to how Amazon has their own forked version of Android on their Kindle Fire tablets. Of course if you believe the rumors, it would suggest that Nokia has more Android devices up their sleeves, so if the Normandy is just the first of many to come, hopefully we will see a more powerful version down the road. Either way we expect Nokia to make the announcement at MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details!
