Samsung SM-W750 Windows Phone Drops By The FCC

Samsung SM W750 Windows Phone Drops By The FCC

One can be excused if they believe that Samsung only makes Android smartphones. The company is known around the world for the low-end, mid-range and high-end smartphones that it develops, all of which run on Google’s mobile operating system. Samsung’s Windows Phone devices aren’t that popular when compared to Nokia’s Lumia lineup, moreover, the company doesn’t exactly make dozens of WP smartphones every year. After quite a while, Samsung and Verizon have reportedly teamed up to develop a Windows Phone smartphone. Carrying model number SM-W750V, Samsung’s new WP smartphone has now made the compulsory layover at the FCC.

    HTC M8 Mini Specifications Rumored

    HTC M8 Mini Specifications Rumored

HTC is expected to unveil the much awaited successor to its much loved flagship smartphone, the HTC One, later this month. The HTC M8 a.k.a HTC One 2 may be showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, but even before its official unveiling, already there are rumors about its “mini” variant. HTC jumped on this bandwagon last year, launching the HTC One Mini, which looked similar to the flagship but had mid-level specifications. HTC M8 mini will go down the same path, resembling the upcoming flagship with relatively underpowered hardware. Its unlikely that both variants will be unveiled and put on sale at the same time. In the meantime, HTC officials are still denying the M8 existence.

    Unnamed Huawei Phablet Gets Pictured

Unnamed Huawei Phablet Gets PicturedAccording to the rumors, Huawei is set to launch their phablet at MWC 2014, although at the moment the name of the phablet has yet to be determined, but thanks to a recent photo that was leaked onto the internet, we are able to get an idea of what it might look like and boy is that thing huge! According to the source who leaked the photo, they claim that the device pictured is not a tablet (Huawei has also been rumored to be developing a tablet to rival the Nexus 7), but rather a phablet made by Huawei and as you can see, it not only dwarves the iPhone, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as well!

In terms of specs, it has been rumored that it will feature a 7-inch display with a 1920×1200 resolution. It is also rumored to be powered by a Hisilicon V9R1 chipset clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and oddly enough runs on Android 4.2.2, although we would have preferred at least Android 4.3 or ideally, Android 4.4 KitKat. We’re not sure if 7-inch is considered a phablet anymore as it does enter into tablet territory, but we have seen devices like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the more recent 6.8-inch Hisense X1 that blurs the lines. In any case hopefully more will be revealed at MWC 2014, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Is 7-inches a little too big for a phone?

    Alleged HTC M8 UI Leaked

Alleged HTC M8 UI LeakedWe expect that come MWC 2014, HTC will take the wraps off the successor to the HTC One in the form of the HTC M8. Based on the rumors and an alleged leaked photo (which may or may not be fake), it has been suggested that the design of the HTC M8 will be somewhat similar to the HTC One, which in all honestly is not that bad of an idea since the HTC One was a pretty nicely designed device. However what about software? Will HTC be overhauling its Sense UI that many have come to know and possibly love? Well thanks to a recent photo posted by @evleaks, the answer might be yes.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the photo posted is allegedly that of the upcoming HTC M8 and possibly also future HTC devices that will sport the latest UI as well. If you’re wondering why it feels so familiar, it is because it uses the tile layout that is somewhat similar to Windows Phone design, and also somewhat reminiscent of Samsung’s leaked Magazine UX for its upcoming Galaxy S5. Of course there’s no telling if this UI is the real deal, especially after the previous HTC M8 photo was sort of debunked by a HTC exec, so take it with a grain of salt for now. However if it is the real deal, it does look pretty nice and corroborates earlier rumors about the on screen buttons. What do you guys think?

HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 Photo

HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 PhotoYesterday we caught a glimpse of a photo which is allegedly that of the upcoming HTC M8. Based on its design, it looked more or less like the HTC One except with dual LED flashes and a dual camera setup, however as the rumors did claim that the HTC M8 would be similar in design to the HTC One, we did not think much of it. However it looks like the skeptics could be right this time as to whether the photo could be real or fake, thanks to a recent tweet by Mark Moons. Mark Moons is HTC’s regional director for the Benelux area of Europe and according to a cryptic post on his Twitter, he writes, “Somebody has been photo shopping….”

Moons does not directly reference the recently leaked photo, but many speculate that could be what he is referring to. Assuming that is the case, chances are the photo we saw just yesterday might not be the real deal after all. We’re not sure which part might be photoshopped, could it be the dual LED flashes? Could it be the dual camera setup? Or could it be the entire design itself? In any case make what you will of it, but like we said in our previous post, there is always the chance that these leaked photos could be fake, but do check back with us during MWC 2014 where hopefully more official details about the HTC M8 will be revealed!

Sony Sends Out MWC 2014 Invites

Sony Sends Out MWC 2014 InvitesFor those who love all things mobile, such as phone and tablets, MWC is probably an event you don’t want to miss. We expect that there will be many devices announced at MWC 2014, but in terms of companies confirmed to make an announcement, Sony has recently started to send out invites to an event that they will be hosting on the 24th of February in Barcelona where MWC will be held at. Unsurprisingly the invite does not tell us what sort of devices we might be able to expect from Sony, but given the fact that the event is about mobile and the leaks we’ve been hearing about, it’s not too hard to guess.

One of the possible announcements Sony is expected to make will be about the Sony Xperia Z2, the follow up to last year’s Sony Xperia Z1. The device is rumored to feature a display with a higher resolution and while the camera’s megapixels will remain the same, it is rumored to have been improved upon, although this will require us to take it for a test-spin to find out. There is also the possibility that Sony could announce a new tablet too in the form of the Castor, although the exact specifics remain unknown. Either way do check back with us then for all the details.

Galaxy S5 Launch ‘Confirmed’ For MWC 2014

Galaxy S5 Launch Confirmed For MWC 2014

There have been a lot of rumors about the Galaxy S5 launch, even though Samsung has already rolled out invitations for its Unpacked 5 event, which will be held on February 24, the day Mobile World Congress 2014 kicks off in Barcelona. Today the New York Times claims to have heard from its sources that Galaxy S5 is indeed going to be the device Samsung unveils at the event, and that contrary to some media reports, Samsung is sticking with the Galaxy S5 moniker for its next flagship. The report also claims that a new Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be launched alongside the Galaxy S5.

Galaxy S5′s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In-House [Rumor]

Galaxy S5s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In House [Rumor]Will the Samsung Galaxy S5 feature a fingerprint sensor like the iPhone 5s? Well if the rumors are to be believed, the answer is yes. However instead of turning to third-party manufacturers to provide them with the fingerprint sensor technology, word on the street has it that Samsung could be looking to produce their own fingerprint sensors rather than outsourcing the job. We’re not sure if this decision was recently made, or if the information was recently made available, because if it is due to the former, we’re sure as heck hoping that it will not affect the release date of the handset in any way.

In any case the rumors claim that the fingerprint sensor developed by Samsung will be of the swiping variety, as opposed to Apple’s TouchID where the finger/thumb is left on the sensor to be detected rather than swiped through. We’re not sure if this sensor will be better than the iPhone 5s’ TouchID which has proven to be rather effective, but it will definitely be a feature worth looking forward to. Should you get your hopes up for a fingerprint sensor? Well back in 2013, it was rumored that the Galaxy Note 3 would come with a fingerprint sensor but apparently it was scrapped due to it not passing Samsung’s QC, so here’s hoping that we will see it in the Galaxy S5. Until we hear the official word, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
