Over the past few years Nokia has become synonymous with Windows Phone smartphones, it is Microsoft’s largest WP OEM that has played a major part in driving growth for Redmond’s mobile operating system. The company’s devices and services division is now set to be acquired by Microsoft for $7.17 billion, though that deal hasn’t been closed just yet. As it continues to function independently for now, there have been many rumors recently about Nokia launching an Android phone. When asked how Microsoft felt about that, Windows Phone VP Joe Belfiore said “Some things we’re excited about, some things we’re less excited about.”

Mediatek has just announced the Mediatek MT6732 system-on-chip (SoC), which comes with quad-core cluster of ARM A53 64-bit CPUs, a Mali-T760 GPU and in integrated LTE modem. Mediatek aims at getting market share in what it calls the “Super-mid” market, which it defines by “premium features at mainstream prices”. [MWC 2014] Remember last week when a photo was revealed on the internet that suggested that it was Huawei’s upcoming wearable device? Huawei’s take is definitely very different compared to the likes of Samsung who has decided to keep to its somewhat serious image with the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear Neo, choosing to go with bright colors instead, perhaps to appeal to a younger and more fashion-conscious group of consumers.
