Who the Heck Makes the Fireplace Videos on Netflix?

If you’re hosting a holiday themed gathering of some kind this year, there’s a chance you’re going to play Netflix’s "Fireplace For Your Home" on your television in the background. Why will you do this? It’s hopelessly tacky. And yet, it will feel totally right; a bit like eating fruitcake and decorating with poinsettias. But who the hell makes these videos in the first place?

House Of Cards 4K Streaming Slated For 2014

House Of Cards 4K Streaming Slated For 2014

4K streaming is definitely the next frontier for the likes of Amazon and Netflix, but so far there’s no clear frontrunner in this race. Netflix might take the charge in 2014 though, its Chief Product Officer Neil Hunt told Stuff that Netflix is going to stream the second season of its insanely popular House of Cards original series in 4K next year. He didn’t mention specific manufacturers, but said that the option to stream in 4K will be offered through smart TV apps available on next generation 4K TVs.

Don’t get too excited if you have recently picked up a next generation gaming console from Microsoft or Sony. Hunt says that the consoles might “eventually” be capable of streaming content from Netflix in 4K, but it will take some time. Right now Netflix is talking about 4K streaming capability built into smart TVs. Hunt confirmed that Netflix is working with David Fincher on House of Cards season 2, “that’s all being shot and edited for 4K delivery.” Apart from its acclaimed drama series, it will also offer additional 4K content that will actually be a set of sample offerings. Hunt acknowledges that its going to take a while before there is ample 4K material available for streaming, but he believes that its important for the company to “get out front and begin to push it.”

‘Better Call Saul’ Spinoff Will Come To Netflix In 2014

Better Call Saul Spinoff Will Come To Netflix In 2014

If you have watched Breaking Bad, you’ll probably know who Saul Goodman is. If you haven’t watched or even heard of the hit AMC series, then you’re most probably living under a rock because it was one of the most talked about series in recent years. While Breaking Bad itself has ended, Walter White’s attorney has his own spinoff which stars Bob Odenkirk. Netflix and Sony Pictures Television announced today that the spinoff will be available to streaming members exclusively in Europe and Latin America in 2014, albeit after it is aired in the U.S. on AMC.

After the season finale is aired on the network, Netflix subscribers in the U.S. and Canada will be able to stream the entire first season of the spinoff. The spinoff will revolve around the life of Saul Goodman before he became White’s attorney, dealing with cases “from parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all.” While Breaking Bad kept viewers hooked on for all five seasons, it is quite likely that a striking majority of those viewers would checkout the Saul spinoff which it ultimately airs early next year. Since its co-created and executive produced by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, viewers are definitely going to have high hopes.

Netflix Android App Update Brings Multiple User Profiles Support

Netflix Android App Update Brings Multiple User Profiles Support

Earlier this year Netflix showed off a feature which allows subscribers to be easily able to share their accounts. If one account is shared by a family, the queues and recommendations are likely to get all messed up, as not everyone has similar viewing habits. This used to be a nuisance for those who shared their Netflix accounts, but with multiple user profiles support, this gets taken care of. Users can create their very own profiles on a single Netflix account, thus keeping their queues and recommendations separate. Today the Netflix Android app has been updated with this feature.

Just over two months back Netflix rolled out a major update of its Android application, one that brought a revamped user interface as well significantly improved performance. The changelog of this recent update reveals that the app now has enhanced search features, which support related titles as well as people. Netflix’s updated Android app is live now and available as a free download from the Google Play Store. If you have been reluctant about using your Android device with your Netflix account, fret no more. Now your queues and recommendations will remain separate from that of the people you share your Netflix account with.
