Netflix renews original series Hemlock Grove for a second season

Netflix’s first foray into the horror genre seems to have gone well, as the company announced it’s renewing Hemlock Grove for a second season. The 10 episode run will debut next year, presumably after fellow Netflix Originals Lilyhammer (later this year) and House of Cards (currently in production) make their second run through the gauntlet. Hemlock Grove didn’t receive the same level of critical praise as other series Netflix has premiered, but executive producer Eli Roth called worldwide fan response “phenomenal” and season one “just a warm up.” So let us know — did you enjoy it enough that you’re looking for more (and, will presumably hang onto that Netflix subscription)?

Netflix streaming is coming to the Netherlands later this year

Netflix mentioned another European country was in its sights for this year and tonight it’s announced the new region it will service is the Netherlands. As is its custom, it will be offering Dutch viewers a package of movies and TV shows for one low price, including its ever-growing slate of original series. There’s no word yet on what that price will be, an exact launch date or what devices will be supported, but interested residents can sign up for alerts at Netflix.nl starting today.

Amazon original series won’t follow Netflix release model

Amazon recently picked Alpha House as one of its new original series coming to the company’s Instant Video streaming service. However, unlike Netflix, Amazon won’t be releasing the entire season all at once. It’s not certain what release model Amazon will use, but the company has said that it will indeed be a “different model.”
