Neurocam Automatically Records Only What You’re Interested in

The Neurocam is the latest invention from Neurowear – the minds behind the Necomimi cat ears and that tail that wags tail that wags based on your thoughts. Though this one seems like a slightly more useful, if not still strange device.

The Neurocam monitors brainwave activity to monitor your interest level in things you’re observing. When it senses that your interest threshold has been hit, it automatically captures images or video. In its current state, the system automatically creates 5-second GIFs of interesting subjects. Here’s a brief video demo of the Neurocam in action:

The device is a headband that holds the users smartphone in a bracket, and it appears that it also has some sort of 90-degree lens adapter for the smartphone so it captures images of whatever you’re looking at.

It’s definitely a novel idea, but all I can imagine is that for most guys, the Neurocam is only going to capture images of cleavage and butts.

Neurowear’s Mico headphones know just how you are feeling

Have you ever seen a wedding video or photo montage? Those tend to be extremely sweet, and one of the main factors that make such videos appealing to the masses would be the background music that accompanies it, and more often than not, it would be the love song that is in vogue at that point in time. Well, Neurowear, a company that in the past has come up with its fair share of consumer electronics devices which are capable of taking into account your brainwaves, and then having said device interact accordingly, is back with their latest creation – a pair of headphones known as Mico which is capable of figuring out your current mood, and choosing the right song from your playlist so that it can alleviate moments of depression and perhaps help you keep a cool head when you have just blown your top.

Basically, the Neurowear Mico headphones will come with a built-in brainwave sensor that is capable of detecting your mood, and then play a song to match it. Chances are pretty high that the Mico headphones is the result of Neurowear dabbling with a project that was called Zen Tunes in the past, where it analyzed a person’s brainwave data while listening to specific songs, so this could very well be an offshoot.

The Mico headphones do look bulkier than normal although it will also be able to fit in nicely as a standard issue over-the-ear headphones. The thing that helps make the Mico headphones stand apart would be the inclusion of an EEG (electroencephalograph) sensor that protrudes from the front. Neurowear claims that this sensor will do the job of analyzing your brain patterns, determining your mood and then pick a song from Neurowear’s database to match that current state of mind, or even it out.

Details on pricing and availability of the Neurowear Mico headphones remain to be determined, but I am not too sure whether this is a sound idea (pardon the pun) for a commercial release.

Neurowear Mico Headphones Plays Songs To Match Your Mood

Neurowear Mico Headphones Plays Songs To Match Your MoodI am quite sure that you have been impressed by us bringing news of Neurowear products in the past, and from the name of the company itself, one can easily deduce that their main expertise lies in rolling out hardware that is somehow connected to the brain, and we are able to control them to a certain degree with but the power of thought. Neurowear’s latest attempt at making more use of your brain comes in the form of the Mico headphones which will feature an integrated brainwave sensor that enables it to detect the wearer’s mood, and once that is said and done, it will comb through its database of songs and play a matching tune.

The Mico headphones do resemble your everyday, over-the-ear headphones, although certain quarters might claim that it is a wee bit more bulky than normal. Neurowear has thrown in an EEG (electroencephalograph) sensor that protrudes from the front, where it will analyze the wearer’s brain patterns, and establishing the current mood. A high tech mood ring, so to speak, but we have absolutely no idea as to when the Mico headphones will be released officially.

Brain-Controlled Headphones Automatically Plays Music Based On Mood

Changing your music preference based on your current mood can challenge most people as you never know what kind of song would best fit your mood. Do you play Lady Gaga while giving birth? Would Black Sabbath be appropriate at a funeral? There are so many questions as to what song would be the best to play at certain times, and Nuerowear is introducing headphones that can help you make the right selection automatically.

Neurowear’s Mico is a pair of headphones that are completely controlled by your brainwaves. The Mico connects to your iPhone through Bluetooth to select songs that have been neuro-tagged using a specific music application. Altogether, the included app only has 100 tracks to choose from, although we’re sure each song has been chosen for specific moods, although if you feel a current song doesn’t fit your mood, you can shake your iPhone to change songs.

The Neurowear Mico doesn’t have a price or official release date, but hopefully the company can start cranking them out so I can listen to the blues when I’m feeling blue.

This cat tail accessory will wag according to your brain waves

We’re not sure what it is with the cat tails in Japanese culture, but they are pretty popular and have shown up in anime, video games and have even inspired people to wear them in their cosplays. In fact it was a few months back that we reported on a cat tail accessory that would sway to your pulse rate. Perhaps looking to take that up a notch, a Japanese company by the name of Neurowear has introduced a wearable accessory known as “Shippo”, which apparently also means “tail” in Japanese. Instead of following your pulse rate like the previous accessory, this one will read your brain waves and will wag according to your mood!

Your mood is read by an app which at the same time will tag your location. This allows the user and their friends to search for other places where other Shippo wearers have been and have determined to be relaxing. To complete the getup, wearers of Shippo will also need to use the brain wave reader along with a heart rate monitor that clips to the wearer’s earlobe. Neurowear’s Shippo was unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show in its prototype form and unfortunately there was no word on when it will be released or how much it will cost.

Neurowear wants to read your mind, geotag your feelings video

Geotagging your photos? Old hat — Neurowear wants to geotag your mood. The folks that brought animated cat ears to the human race is now using NeuroSky’s brainwave-reading headgear to suss out your emotional state and share it with your friends. We dropped in on the group at Tokyo Game Show to take a look at an early prototype. After strapping a familiar Mindwave mobile headset to this editor’s skull, a companion iPhone app sprung to life, reading off relaxation levels and assigning cartoon faces to the user’s mood. The reading could then be recorded on a map, tagging how the user felt at a given location and time and allowing them to share that information with their friends. Had a great time at a new coffee shop? Now you can prove it, and encourage your social contacts to join you. It’s an interesting idea, but its still a long way from hitting the app store — the demo we were given was only a concept app, and the geotagging portion of the demonstration was simulated. It may be awhile before you can tweet your feelings directly. Need another way to express yourself? Don’t worry — Nerosky is adding a brainwave controlled tail, dubbed Shippo, to its line of cranium controlled animal parts. Check it out (as well as our quick neurotagging demo) after the break.
