Nexus 5 details add up: appearing in the UK and Netherlands UPDATE: and Israel

This morning the LG-made Nexus 5 appears to be showing up in-stock (or nearly in-stock) across the world. One of the several stock images appearing this morning comes from Carphone Warehouse, a carrier inside the UK that’s generally got leaks such as this just as often as the rest of the leaks universe. Another leak […]

Nexus 5 and 10 2013 imminent even as fakes appear

This morning the 2013 edition of the Nexus 10 seemed (at first) to appear on Google Play with specifications galore – it was quickly realized by those with keen eyes for terrible fakes that the screenshots of this occurrence were fake. In other words – Google did not mess up and list anything on Google […]

The Nexus 5 Gets A New Color And A New Rumored Launch Date

nex8usu45whited-1

There really isn’t much we don’t know about Google and LG’s new Nexus 5 at this point – a leaked service manual blew the door open on plenty of technical details, and Google even “accidentally” outed the device in the Google Play Store, giving us a $349 price tag for the base 16GB model.

Now, thanks to the one and only @evleaks, we’ve gotten yet another glimpse of the forthcoming phone in some decidedly different livery. Rather than the bog-standard matte black finish we’ve seen on and off for the past few months, this newly leaked image shows off a white version of the device ahead of its official launch… whenever that may be.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with the Nexus 5′s long journey from rumor to actual product, the Android 4.4 KitKat device is said to sport a 4.95-inch display running at 1080p and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz. Oh, and let’s not forget 2GB of RAM, an active LTE radio, and a mildly improved 2300mAh battery – all told we’re looking at a pretty solid update.

Arguably more important than that new chromatic choice is the latest in a long line of purported release dates for the Nexus 5 – this time it looks like November 1 is the day to circle on your calendars. For a while there it looked like we would get our first official glimpse at the Nexus 5 on October 15, a day that came and went with nary a peep from Google. Then there came word of a small Google Play event slated for the evening of the 24th in New York City, which ultimately turned out to be little more than a meet-and-greet for certain members of the press.

Couple that with a separate report from the folks at MobileSyrup forecasting a launch on October 31 and it’s starting to seem very likely that the Nexus 5 will make its grand debut at the end of the month. Of course, that’s only a few days away and there’s still no smoking gun – Google hasn’t started distributing invitations – so we’ll see just how much longer this not-so-secret secret winds up staying under wraps. Curiously enough, the Nexus 5 may not be alone when it hits the Google Play Store for real. An LTE-enabled version of the Nexus 4 put in an appearance in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s device certification listings.

Nexus 5 black-and-white model and Nov. 1 announcement date leaked

The Nexus 5 will come in a two-tone, black-and-white version, leaked @evleaks earlier today, and something is happening on Nov. 1. What that something is is anybody’s guess, but rumor has it it is the official Nexus 5 announcement date set by Google and LG. Check out the leaked photo and specs after the jump. […]

Nexus 4 LTE Bluetooth SIG suggests 5 is near

The LG-made Nexus 5 is right around the corner – more signs of the release of this device appear every day. Today’s clue comes from the Bluetooth regulatory station showing off a Nexus 4 with 4G LTE connectivity – a device that’s not existed on the market yet. This release – alongside the fact that […]

Google Nexus 5 Concept Makes You Wish It Were Already Released

Apple has finally announced the iPad Air (aka iPad 5) and the iPad Mini retina, and as expected, the blogosphere is completely abuzz about it.

I think it’s exciting news, but ever since I made the switch from iOS to Android, I find myself anticipating what Google comes up with more than Apple. (No offense to any Apple fanboys and fangirls, it’s just a personal preference.)

Google has been mum about the next version of their smartphone, which people are dubbing as the Nexus 5, but rumors are already flying about the device, and some people say it’s going to be a phablet, which is a cross between a tablet and a phone.

Jumping on the bandwagon is designer Jo Enaje with her concept design for the next-generation Nexus. She envisions the next Nexus as having thinner screen edges compared to its predecessor and having more colors available in its line. It reminds me of Apple’s iPhone 5C somewhat with all the colors, and personally, I don’t think colorful is Google’s style but I could be wrong.

As you can see, Jo keeps the bezels to a minimum, making the design as fuss-free and simplistic as possible, just as Google has done with its Nexus smartphones in the past. The designs are just a mock-up, of course, but already it’s getting a lot of people excited (including yours truly), especially since the rumored announcement date for the actual device is this October 30th.

Concept aside, the Nexus 5′s purported service manual was leaked earlier this month, which specifies its UMTS/GSM/CDMA/LTE compatibility. Its wide range of connectivity features mean that it’s best to take out a contract that offers 3G, 4G, or high-speed Wi-Fi, but they don’t have to be pricey plans, since telcos are always offering deals to entice you to switch networks.

Other alleged specs include a 4.95-inch 1080p display, an 8MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front camera, wireless charging, Slimport connectivity, a microSIM slot, NFC, and Bluetooth 3.0.

What do you think about Jo’s concept for the Nexus 5?

Possible Leaked Nexus 10 Renders Make It Look Like an Enormous Nexus 7

Possible Leaked Nexus 10 Renders Make It Look Like an Enormous Nexus 7

So the Nexus 10 is a pretty good tablet, especially for its price. But the 10-inch Nexus tabs just never caught on the way the 7-incher did. Now, a leaked press render from Phone Arena is showing off a (possible) new style: giant Nexus 7.

Nexus 5 leaked on Google Play Store

Google Nexus 5On Thursday Engadget has reported seeing the anticipated Nexus 5 appearing on the Google Play Store website, if only briefly. For a time the advertisement for the existing Nexus 4 was gone and replaced with one for the Nexus 5, listing at $349 for a 16GB model.

The display was short-lived and not appearing any longer today, but enough information has been leaked this month to give a good overview of what is expected to come. The Nexus 5 is anticipated to sport a 1080p, 4.95 inch display, storage up to 32GB and the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU.

We had been anticipating the release of the Nexus 5 by now, but there is no official word of the release date. Engadget is speculating the release to coincide with a the possible release of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS later in October.
