Android 4.4 Factory Images For Nexus 4, Nexus 7 Revealed

Android 4.4 Factory Images For Nexus 4, Nexus 7 RevealedIt was just two days back when we brought you word that Android 4.4 KitKat has rolled out for the Nexus 7 tablet, although it is meant for the Wi-Fi only model. Apparently, the manual update packages for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 were said to have been released yesterday too, with the promise of Android 4.4 KitKat for the Nexus 4 and the Wi-Fi + 3G/LTE enabled model of the Nexus 7 would arrive in due time. There has been no Android 4.4 KitKat OTA update in sight so far, but Google has already rolled out the factory images of Android 4.4 KitKat for the respective devices.

Of course, this would translate to your willingness in doing away with all the data on your tablet and start right from the beginning. The factory images which are made available are meant for the Nexus 4, 2012 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi + 3G), and 2013 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi + LTE). The Nexus 10 still lacks a factory image, but considering how the OTA is on its way for that particular tablet, it would not be too much of a hassle to wait a little bit longer. Do bear in mind that should one flash one’s device back to stock, there is more margin for error as Murphy waits to strike. A manual update would have less hassle to work with.

ASUS talks third-generation Nexus 7, plans to show off wearable at Computex

ASUS has reported its third-quarter earnings, which show the company suffered a substantial net profit loss year-on-year due to a massive one-time tax bill of about $52m USD, cutting its revenues down by 26-percent over the same quarter in 2012. That aside, the rest of the numbers were less dramatic, and during the report both […]

Nexus 7 And Nexus 10 To Get Android 4.4 KitKat Today

Nexus 7 And Nexus 10 To Get Android 4.4 KitKat TodayThe long wait is over – for those of you out there who happen to own either the Nexus 7 or the Nexus 10 (or both!), you will be on the receiving end of the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system today. This particular update will arrive in the form of Over The Air (OTA), but bear in mind that only those who happen to own the Wi-Fi only 7-inch tablets will be able to gain from this OTA update. Of course, it remains to be seen just when those who own tablets that have mobile data capability will be on the receiving end of their corresponding update, but we sure as heck hope that sooner is better rather than later. If you are already rocking to Android 4.4 KitKat on your Nexus 7 with Wi-Fi capability, how are you enjoying the experience so far? Is everything up to your expectations, or do you think that a whole lot more could be done to enhance the entire update? [Google Plus Page]

T-Mobile Nexus 7 Goes On Sale November 20th

T Mobile Nexus 7 Goes On Sale November 20th

One of the easiest ways to purchase a Nexus device is to order it through Google’s Play Store. But for some reason if you don’t want to go down that road, there are always other options available. Nexus 7 (2013), the tablet Google launched earlier this year, will be available from T-Mobile come November 20th. The carrier has already started taking pre-orders for the Nexus 7, whereas it will become available for purchase both online and through Magenta’s retail stores on the aforementioned date.

Just to recap, this year’s Nexus 7 has a 1.5GHz quadcore Qualcomm processor with 2GB RAM, 5 megapixel rear and 1.2 megapixel front camera, a 7 inch 1,920×1,200 display and a 3,950mAh battery. Definitely a lot more powerful than its predecessor. One advantage of purchasing the Nexus 7 from T-Mobile is that you can get the tablet for $0 upfront, but will be bound to pay $16 for 24 months. The installment plan can be cancelled at any time, but then the balance remaining has to be paid in full. Upfront, T-Mobile sells the tablet for $384, that’s $35 more than what you can buy the tablet for from the Play Store. The tablet is compatible with T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network, has full access to the Google Play Store for apps and other content. T-Mobile has started accepting pre-orders for the Nexus 7.

Verizon Explains Nexus 7′s LTE Certification Hold-Up

Verizon Explains Nexus 7s LTE Certification Hold UpAs we’re sure you guys are aware of, the Google Nexus 7 can be used with Verizon’s LTE network, making it a relatively affordable tablet with LTE connectivity, undoubtedly helping its appeal to customers. Unfortunately for Verizon customers, it seems that they are unable to get LTE to work on their tablets, with Verizon apparently unwilling to activate the tablet for LTE connectivity for customers who bought it through the Google Play store despite the tablet being advertised that it works on Verizon’s LTE network.

According to Verizon, it seems that this is not their fault, but rather the fault lies with both Google and ASUS, who told Verizon to wait for them to sort it out. It seems that Google was too focused on releasing Android 4.4 KitKat and thus neglected to address the “systems issue” that was apparently plaguing the device. Instead, Google and ASUS told Verizon to wait until the update had been rolled out to the tablet before Verizon was allowed to provided certification for the device to be used on its network.

Obviously there’s no telling how long it will be until Android 4.4 KitKat makes its way onto the Nexus 7, but apparently if one were to insert an existing Verizon LTE SIM into the Nexus 7, it should have no problems hooking onto Verizon’s LTE network. That might be a temporary solution until the update has been released, although a recent tweet by @evleaks would suggest that the wait might not be as long as we might think.

Alleged Nexus 8 Image Quietly Edited By Google, Now Displays The Nexus 7

Alleged Nexus 8 Image Quietly Edited By Google, Now Displays The Nexus 7Thanks to a photo spotted on the Android website the other day, rumors of a possible Google Nexus 8 surfaced. The photo in question showed a woman interacting with a tablet that did not resemble any of Google’s current tablet offerings, giving rise to speculation that it could be a new and upcoming tablet. The design of the tablet showed a tablet with thinner bezels but interestingly enough if one were to surf on down to the Android website, the photo has been edited and it now shows the woman interacting with the Google Nexus 7 tablet.

So what’s going on? Is this simply a case of a badly photoshopped image, or is Google trying to cover its tracks? Some think that Google might simply be trying to feel out the market and see what the reaction is to a Nexus 8, or at least a tablet of that design. The tablet might not even be real and could be Google just trying to see what people might say. Alternatively it could simply just be a photoshop job gone wrong, but based on what we saw it certainly look like it was designed that way on purpose. Either way Google has not exactly denied the existence of the tablet and has simply replaced the image, so make what you will of it, but try not to get your hopes up for a Nexus 8, at least for now.
