Mario Kart Ride-On Vehicle Makes You A Menace On The Road

Mario Kart Ride On Vehicle Makes You A Menace On The RoadI am quite sure that many of us would wish that sometimes, our fantasy worlds as well as science fiction environments will be transported to the real world. Those who have given Nintendo’s Mario Kart a go before would most probably wish that they too, had red colored turtle shells hovering around their car when they go out and battle with the other commuters in the mad rush hour. Well, here we are with a real-life version of Mario Kart that is more than ready to burn rubber in your neighborhood, thanks to the folks over at Jakks Pacific.

Less Than 5% Of Developers Show Interest In The Wii U [Poll]

Less Than 5% Of Developers Show Interest In The Wii U [Poll]Nintendo’s Wii U platform is doing so hot at the moment and there are a variety of reasons why. It could be the hardware which is limiting developers from creating games on it. It could also be because there aren’t that many games on it that are causing developers to shun the platform as it could be a sign that there is no money to be made. It could also be due to a lack of gamers as gamers feel that there aren’t many games available, so why should they both? All of this is pretty much a vicious cycle that Nintendo needs to figure how to get out of, but in the meantime, a poll conducted for the GDC (Game Developers Conference) has revealed some rather disturbing numbers for Nintendo’s platforms.

According to the numbers, less than 5% (4.42% to be exact) of developers have expressed their interest in developing games for the Wii U. The numbers also show that less than 2% (1.9% to be exact) have shown interest in developing games for Nintendo’s 3DS platform. These numbers show a very disturbing trend and attitude towards Nintendo’s platform and definitely can’t be good for the confidence of gamers and current developers for Nintendo’s hardware. Perhaps as Wii U sales pick up with the release of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros., developers might see a reason to return to the platform, but until then, we can’t say we like where this is going.

WebNES Runs NES Games on Mobile Device Browsers: Free from Jailbreak

You can easily find NES emulators for Android devices, but you’d have to jailbreak an iOS device if you want to install a similar program on it. Until now. WebNES is a web-based emulator that runs on mobile browsers, including Safari on iOS devices.

Conrad Kramer, Jared Wright, Bogdan Vitoc and Evan Klein made WebNES during the 2014 PennApps hackathon. The site lets you play a few homebrew games by default, but you’ll get the most out of it if you load NES ROMs on your Dropbox account then play them on WebNES.

It sounds neat, but it’s not quite perfect. As you’ll see in iDownload Blog’s demo video below, WebNES can’t run games at full speed and slows down a bit more as you play. You also won’t get any sound unless you plug in speakers or a pair of headphones to your mobile device.

Enter the Konami Code and head to webn.es to get your 8-bit fix.

Nintendo UK Launches Girls Club YouTube Channel

Gamers consist of people from different countries of different races, age, religion, cultural beliefs, education levels, and of course, gender. That being said despite girls proving that they’re just as good, if not better than the boys at video games, there still remains the stigma that girl gamers aren’t as good. Well it seems that Nintendo wants to do away with that stereotype as they have launched a YouTube channel called Nintendo Girls Club, which from its name itself seems to imply that the channel will be focused towards female gamers.

Based on the videos that Nintendo has put up, the videos seem to focus on Nintendo 2DS and 3DS titles and will include commercials featuring female celebrities, such as Kim Cattrall of Sex and the City fame. It will also feature UK TV soap opera star, Jorgie Porter, who will be the channel’s main presenter. It will also star YouTube vlogger Mandy Hynes, who has in the past received grants and awards. It’s an interesting move by Nintendo to help create a community specifically for girl gamers who might otherwise feel overwhelmed or sometimes even harassed in gaming communities which might be male dominated, but what do you guys think? Was this a smart move by Nintendo?

    Nintendo Announces New Diancie Pokemon

Shoutout to all Pokemon fans around the world! Do you think that you know about every single Pokemon in existence? Do you? Well it seems that Nintendo might have a couple of new Pokemon up their sleeves that have actually been hiding in plain view. This is thanks to a fan, who after the launch of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, decided to poke around the game’s files, only to discover that there could potentially be three new Pokemons and two new Mega Evolutions that Nintendo has yet to officially announce, at least until recently.

NES in a VHS Tape: VideoTendo 2000

Both the original NES console and VHS tapes were popular back in the 1980s, so it actually doesn’t seem that unusual to see the two in the same picture together. Though I can honestly say I’ve never seen an NES inside a VHS tape – until now.

The VideoTendo 2000 is a fully-functional gaming console built into a VHS cassette. And while it’s actually an NES clone that’s Etsy seller ShinoBicycle used to achieve the feat, at least it plays physical cartridges. In fact, it’ll play Famicom games as well as PAL and NTSC NES games.

It’s a pretty neat mod, though it looks to me like he had to rip the tape out from the inside of the VHS cassette and stuck images of them in the windows in their place. At least that’s what it looks like to me from the pics. It’s not like you were going to try and cram this into your VCR anyhow, were you?

    vhs nintendo 3magnify

So bust out your big hair and your Power Glove and head over to Etsy, where you can grab the VideoTendo 2000 for the odd price of $224.94(USD). Remember when buying a movies on VHS cost $89.95? Now the price of the VideoTendo doesn’t seem so bad does it?

Maybe someday, he’ll put an Atari 2600 inside a BetaMax tape.

Custom Super Mario Drum Kit: What, No Donkey Konga?

This Super Mario themed drum kit was built by Josh Fry and it looks amazing. I can see Mario, Luigi, the Princess and even Toad all rocking out together.

Now Josh just needs some other Mario themed instruments and he can get a band together. They could call themselves the Peach Cobblers, or the Toadies, or Plumber’s Tape. It would sound great and for their finishing act, they could all disappear down a warp pipe.

Can I be your manager, Josh? I’ll only take 50% and demand that you lose that talentless brother of yours, Luigi.

Mario Kart 8 Given 30th May Release Date

Mario Kart 8 Given 30th May Release DateEarlier in January, it was revealed that Nintendo’s upcoming Mario Kart 8 title for the Nintendo Wii U would be seeing a release in May. The game was originally given a vague spring release but now thanks to an announcement made by Nintendo’s president himself, Satoru Iwata, it has been confirmed that Mario Kart 8’s release will be on the 30th of May, although we’re not sure if this is an international release and will be available around the world, or if the game might see a release in certain markets first before making its way to other parts of the world, but either way the 30th of May is definitely a date Mario Kart fans will want to mark down on their calendars.

Nintendo has also confirmed that all the Koopalings will be playable racers in the upcoming title, which for those unfamiliar are the level bosses that appeared in games such as Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. The Koopalings include Iggy, Morton, Lemmy, Ludwig, Roy, Wendy, and Larry, so if you were ever bored of the usual Mario Kart roster, perhaps the addition of the Koopalings should shake things up a bit. With Mario Kart 8 announced, the next title we are looking forward to will be Super Smash Bros. which has yet to receive a definite release date.
