The last time we featured console modder Ryan Fitzpatrick aka Platinum Fungi we saw his personal tribute to Mega Man 2. His latest finished project on the other hand is up for grabs. It’s a radical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES.
As with the Mega Man 2 NES, Ryan worked with fellow modder Custom NES Guy on this mod. The star of the project are the cutouts on top of the console, which Ryan painstakingly made by hand. But there are also lots of tiny details to appreciate here, from the great color scheme and paint job to the four bundled controllers, each with an overlay representing a different member of the Turtles.
As I said, Ryan is selling this particular console. It’s going to cost you more than a box of pizza though. As of this writing you have to bid at least $1,275 (USD) on eBay to get a chance at owning the console.

Are you sick of playing as Link all the time in Nintendo’s Smash Bros. brawler franchise? Well you might be pleased to learn that you will be able to play as Princess Zelda come Super Smash Bros. for then Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Wii U. Zelda will also be adorning the armor that she inhabits from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and if the screenshot above is any prediction, it looks like she has the ability to summon the Phantom which is pretty cool. Zelda has always been a playable character so we guess this is just confirmation that she will be returning for the upcoming brawler.
Super Smash Bros. is an upcoming title that Nintendo plans to release for both the 3DS handheld console and the Wii U platform. Unfortunately at this point in time, it is unknown when the game will be released. We had heard the rumors that the game along with Mario Kart 8 could see a Spring 2014 release, although that rumor was quickly quashed by the producer of the game, leaving us to wonder when we might be able to play it.
As it stands, the Wii U platform is not doing particularly well, with critics blaming the lack of blockbuster games, at least compared to the likes of the consoles from both Sony and Microsoft. However Nintendo has always managed to do well with their own titles and we have to wait and see if the addition of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. will help boost Wii U sales!

Minecraft was originally released for the PC, but due to its popularity, the game eventually made its way onto platforms like the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and with over 33 million units of the game reportedly sold to date, it looks like the game is a huge success. However there are still platforms left to conquer, such as Nintendo’s Wii U platform, and according to recent rumors, it has been suggested that Minecraft could be making its way onto the Wii U in the future. This is based on an anonymous source who spoke to the folks at NintendoEnthusiast and claimed that Mojang, the developer of the game, had recently received development kits for the Wii U and had already begun developing the game for the console.
The rumors claim that the GamePad would be used as part of the game, and given that the GamePad is what makes the Wii U console unique, we guess this is sort of unsurprising. It is unclear what the GamePad could be used for, but it has been speculated that perhaps it could be used to manage one’s inventory or craft new objects. So far developers haven’t exactly been supportive of Nintendo’s Wii U platform, with big name developers having no plans to launch games for the platform, or in some cases have even been removed certain features that other platforms get access to. With Minecraft expected to make its way onto the Xbox One and PS4 come 2014, adding the Wii U to the list of supported platforms would no doubt expand its reach.

A New and Improved nPod

Ben Heckendorn who created a portable 8-bit Nintendo console has improved the original 1.0 to be a bit more compact and smaller than the first! Of course it still has to be big enough to fit the oversized NES cartridges (you may even have to blow into them– they are getting old!). It requires 4 AA’s that are said to last a while, and also includes a head phone jack. The nPod plays the super cool original NES games like Super Mario 3 and all the other classics. According to his website, the prototype has been sold, however he’s planning to build more!

USB Devices Coming to the Wii?
Posted in: Today's ChiliThis article was written on June 12, 2008 by CyberNet.
If you have a Wii, you may not even know that there are two USB ports on the back of the console that just sit there. Obviously Nintendo put them there for a reason, you say to yourself, but up until now we haven’t really seen any way to take advantage of them. We take that back, Rock Band which is set to come to the Wii on June 22nd will need a USB port for the drum set, the Wii LAN adapter connects via USB, and we’ve heard of some people hooking up a keyboard via USB, but that certainly can’t be it, can it?
Now it looks as though Nintendo is going to try and take advantage of the ports that they put there. PC World reported that there’s a new job listing over at Nintendo which hints that USB devices for the Wii are coming. The title of the job is for a “Software/Hardware Tester” and their job will be to “create and execute a test plan for Wii’s USB devices.” a Good point that PC World makes is that this could potentially provide Wii users with a storage solution. They say, “Wii owners struggle to manage downloadable content and games, given the console’s limiting 512MB internal memory, (although there is already an SD Memory Card slot)” and so the USB ports could be used for storage, among many other things.
If in fact Nintendo intends to create USB devices for the Wii, what would you want to see?

It’s official: the time has come for Nintendo to put an end to its Wii U game-playing and launch a new console in 2014. Now, I should note that the … Continue reading
In the past we have heard how Nintendo has reiterated their stance on not creating games for the mobile market, although we’re not sure why that is the case especially given how more of us own mobile devices than Nintendo-based handheld consoles. However given that the Wii U isn’t exactly a stellar success, unlike the Wii, perhaps Nintendo could be having a change of heart. According to a report by King 5, word has it that Nintendo could be looking to “experiment” with apps, and the good/bad news is that they will be starting with iOS first.
Speaking to King 5, Nintendo of America’s President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, “We’re also doing a lot of experimentation of what I would call the little experiences you can have on your smartphone and tablet that will drive you back to your Nintendo hardware. It’s largely going to be much more marketing activity-oriented, but we’ve done little things where there’s some element of gameplay – a movement, a shaking, something like that.”
Based on this, it sounds as though what Nintendo could be offering is a taste as opposed to a full-fledged gaming experience which they’re hoping will make gamers want to purchase Nintendo hardware. Granted this isn’t exactly what we want to hear, but we suppose it has to start somewhere, right? No telling when these little tie-ins will begin rolling out, but we can’t wait to see what form it could take.

Golf can be said to be a rich man’s sport, and while it might have come down in price in this day and age compared to a couple of decades ago, the entry level cost is still prohibitive to many. After all, why pay for the green fees when you can just spend a few bucks for a pair of goggles and take a swim? Not only is it a whole lot more affordable, you exercise more of your body as well. Well, Wii Sports Club – Golf has just been announced, where it will join the all-star Wii Sports Club range over in the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U.
At least electronic golf is a whole lot more affordable than the real thing, never mind that you aren’t going to burn as many calories as playing the game in the actual world. Wii Sports Club – Golf will boast of special controls that rely on the Wii U GamePad and Wii Remote Plus controllers. You will need to place the GamePad on the floor, where you then see the golf ball that you are about to hit shown off on the GamePad screen. After swinging the Wii Remote Plus controllers like an actual golf club, watch the ball will fly from the GamePad display to the main TV screen, and followed by the virtual course, now how about that?
