One of Nintendo’s strengths has always been its ability to roll out first party titles that ooze with quality, and even until the Wii U, it seems that this particular DNA has continued. In fact, we now know that one of the more popular characters found in the Super Mario 3D World game happens to be making her way to two of its biggest titles of 2014 for the Wii U. Rosalina has made herself available as a playable character not only in Super Smash Bros., but also in Mario Kart 8 as well.
Apart from that, Nintendo also did mention that they will roll out NES Remix in the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U, where it will feature the re-imagining of parts of 16 classic NES titles. There is also word of a new game which is being developed by Tecmo-Koei for the Wii U, where this particular title will boast of the action-packed Warriors series set in the world of The Legend of Zelda. In Mario Kart 8, Rosalina is not the only new playable character, as there will also be “Baby” Nintendo characters including Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. To make things more challenging, there are also new course settings that will happen in an airport, at the desert, or high up in the clouds, now how about that? [Press Release]

72Pins and artist Gabriel Leoni teamed up to give you a way to troll a Half-Life fan this Christmas. This NES cartridge has a game inside it, and it says “Half-Life 3″ on its cover. But it obviously doesn’t have the actual game, or even a NES demake of it. It’s kinda hard to demake something that hasn’t been made yet.
Crowbar your piggy bank and order the cartridge from Steam 72Pins for $15 (USD).

Super Smash Bros. for both the Wii U and 3DS are games that all Nintendo fans have been waiting for and with each day that passes, we just get closer and closer to its release. Nintendo has been doing a great job of keeping us informed of new characters, assist trophy’s and stages that we could expect to be available. Seeing how Mega Man will finally be included as a fighter, it’s only fitting Dr. Wily’s Castle would make its way to Super Smash Bros. (more…)

Imagine Slowpoke starting a ColorWare franchise and you get the concept behind Lëkki. The French gadget shop sells and repaints only old – but beloved – gadgets, such as the Motorola StarTAC 130. Their latest (?) offering is the Nintendo 64, a console even older than Motorola’s thousand-year old flip phone, but no less popular.
The console is available in four colorways and comes with a similarly colored controller and a copy of Super Mario 64, which is probably the best launch game of all time.
Lëkki sells the bundles for €120 (~$165 USD). Note that these refurbished consoles are PAL versions, so check if you have a compatible TV before you order.

Nintendo’s Zelda franchise is without doubt a popular one, and could be considered to be one of the more classic franchises still around, along with the likes of Mario. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was released on the 22nd of November in the US, and if you’re wondering how well the game managed to do, well you’d be surprised (or not surprised, if you’re a huge Zelda fan). According to Nintendo, they have managed to sell a whopping 280,000 copies of the game since its release in the US on the 22nd of November.
However if one were to take into consideration the special edition Nintendo 3DS XL bundle that was sold together with the game, Nintendo estimates that would mean they would have sold a little over 400,000 units. In the meantime other Nintendo titles such as Pokemon X and Pokemon Y also managed over 200,000 copies during the month of November, and have since sold 2.35 million units. Super Mario 3D World has also managed to sell over 200,000 copies in the first eight days of its release. From what we can tell, Nintendo’s games are pretty popular, although as far as the Wii U is concerned, Nintendo appears to be struggling, but with games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. coming out in 2014, will those titles be enough to help boost Nintendo Wii U sales?

According to a previous report, it was suggested that upcoming Nintendo titles such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. could be arriving in the Spring of 2014. This information was supposedly revealed by a Nintendo executive, but as it turns out, the Spring 2014 date is wrong. The rumor has since been quashed by Super Smash Bros.’ game director himself, Masahiro Sakurai, who took to Twitter to state that while the Spring 2014 date is wrong, the game is still pegged for a release sometime in 2014, although no specific dates were mentioned.
It was not mentioned if this applied to Mario Kart 8 as well, or if Mario Kart 8 could be released separately, but it has been speculated that both games could see a release at the same time. Either way it looks like if you were hoping to get your hands on Super Smash Bros. in the near future, sorry to disappointment, but either way hopefully we will be given a more specific release date in the near future, so be sure to check back with us later for the details!
