Nintendo Network ID And Miiverse Coming To 3DS Soon

Nintendo Direct today brought news about an upcoming Nintendo 3DS update which brings a unified accounts ID system as well as Miiverse to the console. Called Nintendo Network ID, users will have to ability to register the same ID on both the 3DS and the Wii U and combine their balance on both of them. They’ll also be able to purchase games from eShop on both the 3DS and the Wii U. Though this is a figurative baby step to enhanced unification between 3DS and the Wii U, Nintendo says that more of its services will use the Network ID in the future, but falls short of mentioning any names.

This particular Nintendo 3DS update will bring Miiverse as well. 3DS games are likely to get their own communities, and users’ activity on communities will be transferred once they’ve registered their Nintendo Network ID on the console. The company hasn’t said exactly revealed when we can expect this update to be released. Apparently the update is not quite ready for release at this point in time, even though that it has been announced. Nintendo has said that it plans on releasing the update later this year, possibly at some point in December.

Nintendo To Release 2-Disc Album With Music From NES Classics

Nintendo To Release 2 Disc Album With Music From NES ClassicsDo you love anniversaries? There is definitely something about marking a particular event on the calendar, and for those who are avid fans of video games, you ought to take note that 2013 is the year where the humble NES from Nintendo (also known as the “Famicom” in Japan) has just turned 30 this year. I would like to think that this is a unique money making opportunity for Nintendo as well, as the gaming company will be introducing an album that will feature 26 of the best theme songs from classic games such as Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda and Metroid.

It will arrive in the form of a two-disc album as it hits the market this coming December 4th, which would definitely make it the perfect holiday gift for that particular hardcore gamer in your life, or you can always opt to pick it up yourself by enjoying the simple yet engaging 8-bit tunes of yesteryear. This is the first time that Nintendo is doing such a thing by rolling out a NES theme song anthology, where the songs have been recorded directly from the games in the “clearest possible” manner. So far, we do know that this classic collection of tunes will cost you $24 after conversion, which would be a small price to pay to walk down memory lane.

    Giant LEGO Mario Mushrooms: L-up

LEGO enthusiast Dirk aka dm_meister built pumpkin-sized versions of the mushroom power-ups from the Mario games. There’s the red Super Mushroom, the blue Mini Mushroom and the green 1-up Mushroom. Each model is made of almost 3,000 bricks and weighs 10lb. And they have eyes… holy crap I just realized Mario eats living creatures.

Even with Short Supply, PlayStation 3 Consoles In-Stock

This article was written on January 08, 2007 by CyberNet.

Sony originally forecasted that 400,000 PlayStation 3 consoles would be sold on launch day. Launch day came and went, and not even half of the projected amount were sold. It took two additional weeks after the launch for  Sony to meet its original goal of 400,000.  Between the launch, and the end of 2006, they were able to sell 1 million consoles, about half of their 2 million goal.  So, what does this mean for Sony?

Dave Karraker, spokesman for Sony was asked whether they were worried about this, and his response? “Are we worried about strong sales of the Wii or Xbox 360? Not really,” he said. “It was a great year for the industry overall. With the tide all ships rise.” They led the previous generation of game consoles with their PlayStation 1 and 2 with 70% of the global market.  Perhaps they think that there is plenty of time for them to catch up to the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii (which was projected to sell 4 million by the end of 2006).

Despite there being a limited supply of consoles, stores have them in-stock! Sony says the limited supply is due to manufacturing problems with the blue laser diodes, a vital part of the Blu-ray disk drive, one reason the price of the PS3 is a bit overwhelming. In fact, even with the limited supply, one GameStop store(pictured above) has placed a sign in the window saying “We have PS3 systems in stock… Plenty of them!” Whether that picture is legit or not is another question, but it does raise a good point. By no means are the PS3′s flying off the shelves like the Wii did.

Obviously comparing the Wii with the PlayStation 3 isn’t exactly comparing apples to apples.  They’re very different with the PlayStation 3 loaded with next generation features, and a 20 or 60 GB hard drive. But, the point is that the Wii is clearly far more in demand than the PlayStation 3 is and it could be for a variety of reasons.  I don’t know that I’d want to be Sony right now, but the tide can always turn.  They plan to sell 6 million consoles by the end of March, a pretty hefty goal to fulfill with hundreds of PS3′s sitting on store shelves collecting dust at the moment.

Nintendo Trademarks “Great Detective Pikachu” Title

Nintendo Trademarks Great Detective Pikachu TitleIf you love the Pokemon franchise but were looking for more games that didn’t necessarily involving pitting Pokemon against one another, how about a detective game featuring Pikachu? Thanks to a trademark filing for software called “Great Detective Pikachu”, it has been revealed that this will be title for the upcoming game for the Nintendo 3DS. The game was originally unveiled last week where the company showed off a detective game that starred the loveable Pikachu character. Basically the game involves players teaming up with Pikachu in which they go about solving crimes and defeat the evil blue version of Pokemon, but we guess we now know that the game will most likely be known as “Great Detective Pikachu”.

It was revealed back in October that a new Pokemon game that would star Pikachu was in the works, which was followed shortly after by the demo of the game that made its debut on an episode of “The Professionals” television show in Japan. The game will make use of the 3DS’ camera where Pikachu will be able to register the player’s facial expressions, and mimic them to a certain extent as well. The game is expected to see a release in 2015, suggesting that there’s still quite a long way to go before gamers will be able to get their hands on the game.

Wii Sports Club tennis and bowling land for Nintendo Wii U

When the Nintendo Wii launched most of the consoles came with a disk for Wii Sports. That game disc had several games on it with different sports including tennis, bowling, golf, and others. LEGO Question Block Ornament: Super Secret Santa Bros.

Chris McVeigh is on a roll. Shortly after releasing his tiny LEGO consoles, the man who calls himself Powerpig has released another miniature LEGO trinket. This one’s aimed at Christmas-loving gamers. It’s a LEGO question block ornament. Sadly, it doesn’t have any room inside for a coin, or anything for that matter.

    SNES Controller Pillow: SNUZ Controller

Earlier this year we saw the awesome oversized N64 pillow made by Donna Marie Evans. Donna was bombarded by requests for the pillow, but last month a customer asked her to make a controller pillow from an earlier Nintendo console. The result is this very huggable SNES controller pillow.

Donna said that this pillow was harder to make than the N64 one, partly because of the Super Nintendo phrase. She had to embroider it by hand because she doesn’t have a cutting edge embroidery machine. Contact her on deviantART if you want your own SNES pillow.
