“Nintendo Land” Wii U bundle replaced with Mario bundle

The Wii U is getting a packaging revamp in time for the holidays, but it may not be enough to save the unprofitable Wii successor in the long run. Starting Nov. 1, the $299 Wii U bundle with the Nintendo Land game will be replaced with a bundle that includes both New Super Mario Bros. […]

Nintendo Wii Availability to Continue in the US

Over the last few days, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Wii game console would be going out of production in Japan. With the console ending production, it would be easy to assume the console no longer be available to purchase once existing stocks run out. The announcement left people in the U.S. wondering if availability in the States would be affected.

A spokesperson for Nintendo of America has now stepped forward and said that the announcement that the Wii has been discontinued in Japan will not affect availability in the U.S. It’s unclear if they are continuing a lesser volume of production just for North America, or if they’ll just be selling through existing stock though. The Nintendo Wii itself isn’t exactly incredibly popular these days, but it is one of the cheapest game systems available.

Nintendo will offer the Wii in a bundle starting at around $130(USD) during the holiday shopping season. Odds are we’ll see the Nintendo Wii even cheaper than that for Black Friday sales.

Nintendo Wii U Deluxe Set Including New Super Mario Bros. U, Luigi U Starting Nov. 1

Nintendo Wii U Deluxe Set Including New Super Mario Bros. U, Luigi U Starting Nov. 1

Nintendo has been attempting to make its Wii U an appealing video game console to purchase this year as just a few months ago, they announced they would be cutting the price of the Wii U Deluxe set from $349.99 to a more acceptable $299.99. A $50 drop in price doesn’t seem to have improved much in terms of the Wii U’s sales, so Nintendo is now changing things around with what games are bundled in with the Wii U in order to make it a more valuable purchase. Nintendo Wii Discontinuation In Japan Won’t Affect Console’s Availability In U.S.

Nintendo Wii Discontinuation In Japan Wont Affect Consoles Availability In U.S.

Now that Nintendo’s next-generation video game console, the Wii U, is available around the world, it’s understandable the company would be halting the production of its predecessor, the Wii. We learned just a few days ago NIntendo had discontinued the production of the Wii over in Japan, which probably had many fans of the console rushing to their consumer electronics retailer of choice to buy as many of the last-gen console they could carry in their hands, but if your in the U.S., you shouldn’t be worried. Super Mario 3D World Trailer Features Its Fair Share Of Cat Costumes

Fans of video games will most probably know just how popular the Mario franchise is to Nintendo, as it is an integral part of the company. Well, we have seen our fair share of Mario titles over the years, and they have the tendency to ride out as winners in their very own right. Thanks to advancements in technology that allow us to view stuff like trailers, we now bring you the latest Super Mario 3D World trailer that interestingly enough, does seem to feature its fair share of cat costumes.

The trailer itself will be in Japanese entirely, where it depicts just how some four-player gameplay action will be like on debut Wii U Mario title. In this particular trailer, it also depicts each character’s special moves in addition to being all decked out in cat costumes. When it comes to Mario, his special ability does seem to be his famous bounce attack, while Luigi boasts of the ability to jump extra high, with Princess Peach floating around, while Toad, the smallest member of the group, is able to dash about. Considering they are all wearing cat costumes, all of them will be able to perform claw and slide attacks in addition to climb vertical surfaces.

There are also other transformations that would make up part of the game, where among them include Double Mario, Giant Mario, various boxes, in addition to favourites such as Fire Mario and Tanooki Mario. Expect Super Mario 3D Land to arrive in North America on November 22 in Europe on November 29.

Custom Mega Man 2 25th Anniversary NES: Retro Master

The first Mega Man game celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, while its sequel is still “only” 24 years old. But it was Mega Man 2 that catapulted the Blue Bomber and his franchise to fame, and is widely considered to be one of the best videogames of all time. So I don’t think anyone would ridicule NES modders Platinum Fungi and Custom NES Guy for paying tribute to the legendary platformer one year in advance.

Platinum Fungi made the cutout backlit design, which features the eight Robot Masters from Mega Man 2, while Custom NES Guy did the slick paint job.

Cool Man. I’m not sure if Platinum Fungi is selling this particular console. You can hire him and Custom NES Guy for custom NES builds though, so maybe they’ll make another one for you.

Nintendo Wii production ends in Japan

Early on Nintendo hit a home run with the original Wii game console. The console sold huge numbers and many gamers waited in line for hours to get their hands on Nintendo’s latest console. After early success, demand for the Nintendo Wii slowed significantly. Eventually the Nintendo Wii was replaced by the Nintendo Wii U […]

Nintendo Confirms More Cross-Platform Titles Are In The Works

Nintendo Confirms More Cross Platform Titles Are In The WorksNintendo has in the past been pretty adamant about not creating games for other platforms, namely mobile platforms such as iOS and Android. Basically what this creates is a sense of exclusivity which we guess would benefit the hardware sales of Nintendo products, although given the recent figures of Wii U sales it does not appear to be working out for them. Well the good news is that Nintendo has since stated that they plan to start creating more cross-platform games that will provide functionality with other consoles from different manufacturers, although not exactly in the way you might have thought.

According to a Nintendo representative, “We can confirm that cross-platform functionality is possible in certain titles that play on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, as well as other video game systems not made by Nintendo […] We are committed to helping developers realise the full potential of their software on Nintendo systems.” While this is hardly considered developing titles for other platforms, we guess it’s a start, with an example being an upcoming title by Ripstone called Pure Chess where Wii U gamers can pit their skills against someone playing a different console, such as on iOS or Android, or the Nintendo 3DS. Presumably mobile gamers would love to see titles such as Mario or Zelda eventually arrive on their devices, but for now we guess this will have to do.
