Nintendo Health business: breaking off to improve your quality of life

Yoshi Themed Nintendo 3DS XL Is Coming, Game Sold Separately

As everyone knows by now, Nintendo needs to sell anything they can since the Wii U has sold so terribly for them. So to get more sales in general, and to promote the release of Yoshi’s New Island, Nintendo is releasing a new, special edition Yoshi-branded Nintendo 3DS XL.

However, the special-edition portable doesn’t come with the game, even though the box is so heavily branded with Yoshi artwork. No, they want you to buy both the game and the 3DS separately.

Yoshi’s New Island releases the same day as the lime green 3DS XL. March 14. The special edition 3DS XL retails for $199(USD) price and there doesn’t seem to be an alternate option that comes bundled with the game. Smooth move, Nintendo.

Please buy the game and the console. Help a struggling gaming company who has made all of the wrong moves for years. Have a heart. Keep mild cartoon violence alive in video games. Otherwise they might have a telethon soon or one of those sad animal commercials with Sarah Mclachlan. Or maybe they’ll just smarten up and start selling their games on iOS and Android – when dinosaurs fly.

Nintendo Reiterates Their Commitment To First-Party Hardware

Nintendo Reiterates Their Commitment To First Party HardwareNintendo has never been shy when it comes to standing their ground with regards to releasing games for mobile. In fact it was only until recently that Nintendo opened themselves up to the idea of expanding the licensing of their characters and franchises to third parties, but still remained firm on the idea of not releasing games for mobile.

In fact a recent message by Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, reiterates that point where he states that Nintendo will remain focused on first-party hardware and software, as they believe that is their strength. (more…)

Yoshi Themed Nintendo 3DS Listed By North American Retailers

Yoshi Themed Nintendo 3DS Listed By North American RetailersEarlier last month, we revealed that Nintendo had a specially themed Nintendo 3DS console that would sport a Yoshi motif on its cover. At that time the console was announced for gamers in Europe, but the good news is that it looks like it could be arriving in North America around the same time as well.

This is according to a couple of listings made by retailers such as KMart and Toys “R” Us in their advertisements. According to both listings, the console will retail for $199.99 but unfortunately it seems that despite the Yoshi theme, there is a chance that it will not come with Yoshi’s New Island preinstalled. Nintendo Pulling Plug on Online Play for Wii and DS on May 20

Let’s face it. Nintendo is going down the drain very quickly. Its 3DS and Wii U consoles have been unable to sell in the volume that previous systems enjoyed. The company is selling fewer games and less hardware meaning that losses are stacking. You might think that with people not buying Nintendo games and hardware that Nintendo would want to do all it could to take care of the gamers that are still loyal and playing.

That would be wrong. Nintendo has announced that as of May 20 it will be ending support for online play for the DS and Wii game consoles. The end of support for Wi-Fi Connection service will come on May 20. After that date, gamers will only be able to play games in offline mode. I know there are a bunch of Mario Kart fans out there not happy at all right now.

Nintendo does gladly say 3DS and Wii U gamers will get to continue playing online. The crux of the story here is upgrade to a new device if you want to play Nintendo games online. Boo Nintendo, boo to you!

Fable Creator Calls The Wii U Awkward And Clumsy

Fable Creator Calls The Wii U Awkward And Clumsyu revPeter Molyneux has never been shy or one to keep his opinions to himself. The developer behind titles such as Dungeon Keeper, the Fable series, Black & White, and the upcoming title Godus, has been pretty vocal about what he likes and what he doesn’t like in the past, and in a recent interview with Develop, the famed developer was quoted as calling the Nintendo Wii U “clumsy” and “awkward”. Wii U Lifetime Sales In Japan Overtakes The Xbox 360

Wii U Lifetime Sales In Japan Overtakes The Xbox 360Nintendo’s Wii U console can hardly be considered the hottest selling console at the moment. In fact we’d be surprised if Nintendo were to ever nab that title one day. Perhaps it is the lack of titles, and perhaps it is the slow releases of first-party titles, but whatever the case is, the console is definitely not on the same level as the PS4 or the Xbox One.

The good news is that while the console will not be overtaking Sony or Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, we guess Nintendo fans can take solace in knowing that as far as prev-gen consoles are concerned, like the Xbox 360, it turns out that the Wii U’s lifetime sales has managed to overtake that of the Xbox 360’s in Japan. Nintendo Investor Implores The Company To Release Games For Mobile

Nintendo Investor Implores The Company To Release Games For MobileNintendo’s refusal to release games for mobile devices is almost legendary. Despite proof that such a move would be great for the company, and demand from gamers for the company to release their games for smartphones and markets, Nintendo has refused to budge. In fact the closest thing Nintendo will do is release an app but not games.

To that extent Hong Kong hedge fund manager, Seth Fischer, has once again implored Nintendo to consider making that move to mobile. Heck, Fischer goes as far as telling Nintendo that if they do go mobile, they should go the free-to-play route which he believes will result in very profitable games. (more…)

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection To Shut Down Worldwide This May 20th

Nintendo Wi Fi Connection To Shut Down Worldwide This May 20thIt does seem as though Nintendo of Japan has decided to put off its Nintendo Wi-Fi connection for some of its older (albeit still popular) consoles out there, as the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection does seem to be on schedule to turn off access to multiplayer gaming in addition to a slew of other as well as plenty of the other services this coming May 20th. Apart from that, there is the free Video app which launched for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 that will be unplugged at the end of March. As for the services which will continue to have their wheels greased on the Nintendo DS after May has come and gone would include the DSi Shop, DS Browser, and DSi Browser. As for the Nintendo Wii, it will keep Hulu, Wii Shop Channel, Internet Channel, Delivery Channel and YouTube.
