Nokia Brags About Windows Phone Apps

When it comes to poking fun at the competition, Nokia has never been one to shy away from doing just that. In fact they recently made fun of Samsung for their attempts at sponsoring the Oscars by providing Ellen Degeneres with a Galaxy smartphone, calling the photos taken blur.

It’s interesting that Nokia is pretty daring especially given that as far as their position in the smartphone market is concerned, they’re not exactly leaders, especially in the face of other brands like Samsung and Apple. In fact despite reports that Windows Phone is on the rise, it is still pretty far behind both Android and iOS, but it seems that won’t stop Nokia from bragging anyway. (more…)

    Nokia Lumia 630 Press Rendering Leaked

    Nokia Lumia 630 Press Rendering LeakedSo word on the street has it that Nokia could be hosting an event on the 19th of April. It is unclear what Nokia will be announcing, but given that at MWC 2014 the company did not reveal any new Lumia handsets, chances are this event could be where Nokia might make some Windows Phone related announcements.

    That being said, we have also heard that there are several Nokia Lumia devices in the works, such as the Lumia 930, 630 “Moneypenny”, and 635. There has also been talks about a certain Nokia “Martini” as well.     Yahoo Maps Now Offers Indoor Navigation

    Powered by Nokia’s HERE mapping service, Yahoo continues to improve its mapping service as it looks to take on the already established players in this particular arena. Today, users will notice some big changes when they head over to maps.yahoo.com, one that puts Yahoo Maps at par with some of its rivals. Indoor navigation has been added, powered by Here Venue Maps, users will now be able to see maps for venues like sports stadiums, shopping malls and travel interchanges and they will also be able to map their routes inside these locations.

    Nokia Rumored To Hold Event On 19th AprilEarlier at MWC 2014, Nokia announced several new handsets. They unveiled the new Nokia X series of Android devices, as well a couple of new Asha handsets as well. However as the rumors had suggested ahead of the event, Nokia’s announcement certainly did not reveal any new Lumia devices.

    Much has already been said and written about the $7.17 billion Microsoft-Nokia deal, through which the former absorbs the latter’s devices and services division, but a new report published by Businessweek today offers a glimpse of what happened behind the scenes prior to the deal being announced. It is claimed that Microsoft founder, former CEO and ex-Chairman of the board Bill Gates was staunchly opposed to the idea of this acquisition, it was his belief that Microsoft should stay as a software company at heart and not venture too deep into ambitions of becoming a hardware company.

    Nokia X Will Be Hitting Malaysia First This Week For $121At MWC 2014, Nokia “surprised” everyone by launching their series of Nokia X Android devices. The lineup currently consists of a trio of handsets in the form of the Nokia X, the Nokia X+, and the Nokia XL. Oddly enough Nokia has decided that these handsets would not be gracing the shelves of regions such as the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.

    We’re not sure why that is given that there is definitely a lot of interest there. In any case we had to wonder in which markets would the Nokia X eventually land up in.
