Nokia Lumia 630 Specifications Leaked (Rumor)

Nokia Lumia 630 Specifications Leaked (Rumor)Do take this bit of news with a pinch of salt, as nothing official has been released just yet concerning the Nokia Lumia 630. Sure, we have seen the Nokia Lumia 630 product sheet leaked yesterday which dropped a hint concerning a 4.5” display, but here are more details that touches on the rest of the hardware specifications. Also known as the Nokia “Moneypenny”, the Nokia Lumia 630’s most recent round of leaked information hails from an anonymous (this is expected) user on the Chinese Baidu forum. The forum post also pointed to a slew of new images of the Nokia Lumia 630, as well as comparing it to the existing Nokia Lumia 620 model that is in the market.

Nokia does the Android dance with the Nokia X, X+ and XL

lumia-xWhen one talks about Nokia smartphones, we would more or less figure out that these would run on the Windows Phone platform, as Nokia has been associated with Microsoft’s mobile operating system for a fair number of years already. Well, it seems that things might have taken a different turn this time around, with word that Nokia has decided to use Mobile World Congress 2014 to unveil a trio of new smartphones, namely the Nokia X, X+ and XL. These will be priced between the existing Asha and Lumia lines, which will retail for €89, €99 and €109, respectively, where they ought to offer a fair bit of appeal to new smartphone users who are on the lookout for popular apps as well as their first cloud services.

The new Nokia X family would bring along with it Nokia’s exciting, high quality hardware design alongside a range of bright colours. The brand new, tile-based Home screen would offer one a simple, elegant method to manage your apps and phone functions, not to mention having reintroduce a redesigned version of the enormously popular Fastlane notifications centre, which is somewhat deemed to be a second Home screen if you would like to call it just that.

You will also find acclaimed Nokia and Microsoft services and experiences arrive right out of he box, as HERE Maps with turn-by-turn navigation and offline maps are also thrown into the mix. Not only that, Nokia MixRadio ensures you get to enjoy hundreds of free streaming and offline playlists. There is also free cloud storage from Microsoft OneDrive with 7GB of space for free right from the get go.

All three of them will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core processor and will be able to wield Dual SIM cards. Other third-party apps that arrive preinstalled include BBM, Plants vs. Zombies 2, Viber, Vine and Twitter. The Nokia X would be the entry level model, sporting a 4-inch IPS LCD screen, 512MB RAM and a 3-megapixel camera. As for the Nokia X+, it comes with 768MB RAM and a 4GB microSD card, while last but not least would be the 5” Nokia XL that features 768MB RAM, a free microSD memory card and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera as well as a 5MP shooter at the back.

Leaked Nokia Lumia 630 Product Sheet Hints At 4.5 Inch Display

Leaked Nokia Lumia 630 Product Sheet Hints At 4.5 Inch Display

Nokia might be in the process of wrapping up its devices and services division and getting ready to drop it in Microsoft’s lap, but that doesn’t mean it has been sitting idly by, leaving the market to fend for itself. Earlier this week it unveiled its first ever Android phones, and it is believed that Nokia still has a couple of Windows Phone devices up its sleeve. The Nokia Lumia 630 is apparently one of them, and this smartphone’s purported “product sheet” has been leaked, which points towards a 4.5 inch display and also sheds light on the possible dimensions.

If this product sheet is to be believed, the Lumia 630 will come in at 129.55mm x 66.7mm, with the front being dominated by its 4.5 inch display. If previous specifications leak turn out to be true, it could be a 720p HD display on this smartphone. Apparently codenamed “Moneypenny,” the Lumia 630 was initially expected to be unveiled at MWC 2014.

There may very well be one aspect to this smartphone that will set it apart from all Windows Phone devices, even those from Nokia. It is believed that the Lumia 630 is going to be the world’s first dual-SIM Windows Phone. That’s very much possible, given that Microsoft has already confirmed Windows Phone 8.1 will bring support for dual-SIM phones. Presumably it will be launched in emerging markets at the start, after Microsoft formally unveiled its next major mobile platform update.

Nokia Launches Contest To Attract Android Developers

Nokia Launches Contest To Attract Android DevelopersOne of the problems that might potentially hold the Nokia X from becoming one of the more popular Android phones would be its apps. Due to the fact that it runs a forked version of Android, it means that it does not have access to Google’s services, including the Play Store, unlike most other Android phones.

Well Nokia is hoping to change that by announcing a contest in which they are asking developers to submit their apps to Nokia’s app store. Each developer can only submit a maximum of 10 apps and there has to be certain criteria that needs to be filled in order for it to be counted. (more…)

Nokia X Not Coming To The U.S.

Nokia X Not Coming To The U.S.

At Mobile World Congress 2014, Nokia announced its much rumored Nokia X lineup. What was believed to be one Android device turned out to be a trio of Android phones in various sizes. The Nokia X, X+ and XL offer highly forked versions of Google’s mobile operating system in the company’s usual colorful designs. They lean on Microsoft services, as opposed to Google’s, and are served by Nokia’s own app store. The relatively low prices make them a good option, but unfortunately they won’t be officially released for sale in the U.S.
