Nokia has reportedly a certain Lumia 929 in the works. We have seen the device leaked and recent accessory listings has suggested that we might see a possible release on the 20^th of December. For those who might still be doubting the existence of the device, it seems that one of PhoneArena’s readers has managed to purchase the Lumia 929 over in Mexico, suggesting that there is a good chance that we are close to seeing the handset released officially. Of course we cannot confirm if the device pictured above is legitimate or why is the handset being sold in Mexico (is it an official sale, or could it be bought from someplace such as eBay?), so take it with a grain of salt for now.

The Lumia 929 is said to be the smaller cousin of the Lumia 1520. The handset will pack pretty much the same specs, such as a Full HD display, except smaller at 5” instead of 6”. It will also come with a quad-core processor under the hood powered by Qualcomm, and will also pack a 20MP PureView camera. Assuming these specs are legit, we can only imagine that the Lumia 929 will appeal to those who might find the Lumia 1520 a bit too unwieldy for their liking. However as the branding would suggest, the Lumia 929 is headed onto Verizon but perhaps we might be able to expect an international variant in the near future.

A few months back Microsoft announced that it had agreed to purchase Nokia’s devices and services division for $7.17 billion. Even though both companies had agreed to the sale, Redmond still had a few hoops to jump through. At first there was the approval from Nokia’s shareholders, which was overwhelmingly in favor of the deal when voting was conducted last month. Then there’s the approval from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, both of which have signed off on the deal. The DoJ has cleared the acquisition unconditionally, which means that Microsoft is one step closer to finishing the acquisition.

Since Nokia is a Finnish company, an acquisition of its division would require approval from regulators in the EU. Recent reports suggest that EU regulators are likely to sign off on the deal as well without imposing any conditions. Once the acquisition is completed and Microsoft ends up establishing base at Nokia House in Finland, the ex-Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will go back to Microsoft and head an expanded devices team which will include Windows Phone devices, Surface tablet and the Xbox console. Rumors have pegged him as a possible candidate for the top slot at Redmond, as CEO Steve Ballmer has already announced his plans to step down within the next 12 months.

One of the features of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is its ability to snap some great photos, thanks to the built-in camera which is actually the highlight of the device itself. This is why we guess we can’t really say we’re too surprised to learn that the Nokia Lumia 1020 has recently shot up to the top of the charts as being the most popular Nokia camera on Flickr at the moment. As you can see in the graph above, the Nokia Lumia 1020 has recently overtaken the Lumia 920 as the most popular Nokia smartphone camera, and at the same time we can also see older non-Lumia devices starting to decline, like the Nokia N8, the 808 PureView, and the N95.

While the Lumia 1020 might not be as powerful in terms of hardware compared to the Lumia 1520 that was recently released, we suppose its camera is good enough where some might be willing to overlook its hardware specs in favor of it. Nokia announced its first Windows RT tablet, the Lumia 2520, in October. The tablet was recently released and some customers have complained about a sleep mode bug that causes the tablet to become inoperable until the user performs a hard reset. The issue is reportedly being faced by both AT&T and Verizon variants of the device, and quite a lot of users have complained about the exact same issue in Nokia’s official discussions forums.

Users who left comments on the forum speculate that the bug might be related to the display drivers, however Nokia is yet to issue a statement regarding the bug. So its not clear as of now if the Finnish manufacturer is working on a fix. No temporary fix has been figured out by users, the issue doesn’t go away until the tablet is reset. Until then the Lumia 2520′s screen goes blank and does not respond to taps or even presses of the home button. The screen comes back when the tablet is reset by holding both power and Windows button for a few seconds or just holding down the power button for up to ten seconds. We’re quickly losing count on how many times we have seen leaks of the Nokia Lumia 929. Still, something tells us Verizon subscribers won’t mind getting as many looks as possible at what’s rumored to be a pretty high-end smartphone. Now, courtesy of a forum member on Windows Phone Central, we’re seeing the Lumia 929 from a slightly different angle than in previous occasions. As a refresher, Nokia’s unannounced handset is rumored to come with a 5-inch, 1080p display, 32GB of built-in storage and a 20-megapixel PureView shooter. Previous reports suggested it could hit Verizon around Thanksgiving, but according to the person behind the most recent leak, this Windows Phone device won’t be official until sometime in mid-to-late December.
