Nokia To Provide 30,000 Lumia Handsets To Bank In Spain

Nokia To Provide 30,000 Lumia Handsets To Bank In SpainBlackBerry used to be the platform of choice when it came to enterprises and governments, but perhaps with the Canadian company starting to lag behind the competition, businesses and governments started to swap them out for something a bit more modern.

However it seems that Nokia (and we guess Microsoft by extension) has started to gain some traction in the business world with the Windows Phone platform as they have recently managed to sign Spain’s CaixaBank as a partner. (more…)

Nokia 3310 upgraded with 41MP PureView Camera

nokia-3310-pureviewYou know what they say – if you want to get something done, do it once and do it right, otherwise do not bother doing it at all. The Nokia 3310 has been quite the hallmark for Nokia when it comes to having released a successful handset to the market. Back in the year 2000 when the Y2K bug proved to be a bust, the Nokia 3310 took the world by storm, selling more than 125 million units along the way, and even appearing in its fair share of memes over the years to show just how durable and tough this particular handset is. This April Fool’s, Nokia wants to pull our legs by claiming that the venerable Nokia 3310 is going to make a comeback of sorts with updated hardware that will keep up with the times.

Yes sir, apparently, the new Nokia 3310 will now feature PureView capability while staying as close as possible to its original design. The inclusion of PureView translates to the addition of a 41MP PureView camera with Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, where it will ditch the monochrome display and run on a modified version of Windows 8 that will be able to fit the unique ‘ClearDiamond’ three-inch touch screen.

Of course, who can forget the classic metallic dark blue shade that the original Nokia 3310 came in? The Nokia 3310 with PureView will feature that in addition to more updated colors such as yellow, blue, red and green. There will still be three ‘soft-touch’ navigation keys hanging around, albeit these will feature a Windows Phone ‘home’ button which will introduce you straight back to the Start Screen.

Not only that, both LiveTiles and App Folders will also be supported, and this particular handset will also arrive pre-installed with MS Office, Xbox Games, Outlook and OneDrive that boasts of up to 7GB of free cloud storage right out of the box. What an imagination!

Nokia Lumia 1520 Beats Out The Competition In Blind Camera Comparison

Nokia Lumia 1520 Beats Out The Competition In Blind Camera ComparisonPerhaps back in the day when cameras on smartphones took pretty low quality images, people didn’t really care about the megapixels or the camera technology as much as they do today. Nowadays people are slightly more fussy when it comes to image quality on their phones and features like the ability to capture photos in low-lighting conditions, image stabilization, and so on are important.

Of course sometimes there is some bias going on. Some people genuinely believe their phone is the best for taking photos because they love the brand, so in order to find out which phone truly takes the best photos from an unbiased point of view, the folks at PhoneArena have conducted a blind test with a variety of photos, asking people to vote on which looks best. Nokia Icon Review

Nokia Icon ReviewThe Nokia Icon is a new step in Nokia’s Industrial design, and a new push in terms of high-performance on the Windows Phone platform. As Nokia continues to dominate the Windows Phone landscape, the fight with Android and iPhone handsets remains extremely challenging and competitive. To even the odds, the Nokia Icon offers what no other Windows Phone had before: the same firepower and horsepower than high-end Android devices, in a 5” form-factor.

Although Windows Phone is the only OS to run very fast on low-end hardware, users have been somewhat frustrated with the hardware lag between Windows Phone and other platforms handsets. With the Icon, Nokia says “no more”, and on paper, it looks very sweet with a Snapdragon 800 and a 20 Megapixel high-end camera module. Is it as good as it looks? Read on… (more…)
