Nokia and Mercedes Benz will work together on self-driving cars, the companies have confirmed, with Nokia’s HERE developing metadata-rich navigation and mapping data with extra information for robot drivers. Nokia Lumia 625 review

DNP Nokia Lumia 625 review

Another week, another Lumia. This latest grenade thrown by Nokia in its continued assault on the smartphone market is the Lumia 625. Following up on its previous high-end devices — the good-looking one, the one with the fancy camera — the 625 is a soldier of lower rank. There’s already an army of budget Windows Phones that fill various niches, so what’s the deal? Well, despite the number on its dog tag, the 625 is far from a Lumia 620 variant: it’s a completely different phone. For starters, it sports the biggest screen of any Lumia to date (for now, anyway). Actually, make that any Nokia phone ever made. But the real reason it exists has nothing to do with the display size; it’s all about the 4G radio hiding away inside. Does LTE, plus a big screen and eyebrow-raising price tag, make it worth your while, though?%Gallery-slideshow79311%

Nokia Lumia 1520 images leak again

It seems like every time I look around some new images of the unannounced Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet are turning up. This time around, the leaked images are of higher quality than the images we saw back in late August. So far, there has been no official confirmation of any features of the device but […]

New Nokia Lumia 1520 Screenshot Surfaces, Shows 16MP Photo Capture Ability

New Nokia Lumia 1520 Screenshot Surfaces, Shows 16MP Photo Capture AbilityEarlier today we caught a look at the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520 which was pictured next to the Sony Xperia Z as a way to compare its size. Now thanks to a newly leaked screenshot obtained by the folks at WMPoweruser, it shows us the device’s Settings menu where it reveals some of the phone’s camera settings. The settings menu reveals that the device has the ability to capture photos in both 5MP and 16MP at the same time, with the former allowing for uploading onto social networks such as Facebook where one does not really need such a high-resolution photo, and where 5MP would be more than enough.

However at the same time we’re not sure if 16MP would be the max that users will be able to capture their photos in. At this point in time it has not been confirmed as to the camera of the Lumia 1520. There are rumors that it could sport a 20MP camera, but this menu certainly does not give it away. In any case Nokia is expected to announce the device in the near future in an event held in New York, and supposedly the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update will be announced alongside it as well, so until then take it with a grain of salt, but check back with us at a later date for the details.

    Windows Phone 8.1 Screen Spotted

Windows Phone 8.1 Screen SpottedSometime last week, we brought you word that Windows Phone 8 GDR3 was spotted on a handset which was purchased off Craigslist- a Nokia Lumia 920 to be exact. Not only that, we do know that Finnish smartphone manufacturer Nokia is also working on a “Bittersweet shimmer” update coming, and here we are with something that might just get your juices flowing – that is, an image of the Lumia 620 from Nokia that was spotted running on a copy of Windows Phone 8.1, now how about that?

The report that published the very same photo claimed that the image was discovered on a microSD memory card, and it does seem to depict a notifications center as well as a unified messaging inbox for both Skype and Messenger. Since the image was reportedly found on a random microSD memory card, one cannot draw the conclusion to prove anything else. It does boggle the mind, that major updates discovered on Craigslist and a microSD memory card that depicts the next build of Windows Phone happened so close before Apple unveiled its new iPhone range. Could it actually be some sort of covert operation or just plain luck? Only time will tell, but if it was cleverly planted news, then Nokia must have done a pretty good job.

Nokia Lumia 1520 Caught On Camera Alongside The Xperia Z

Nokia Lumia 1520 Caught On Camera Alongside The Xperia ZThe Nokia Lumia 1520 is Nokia’s upcoming phablet device which has also gone by the “Bandit” codename in the past. We’ve seen images and press renders of the device make their way onto the internet, and now thanks to a handful of photos obtained by The Verge, the handset has made yet another appearance, this time sitting alongside the Sony Xperia Z. For those unfamiliar with the Xperia Z, it’s Sony’s Android smartphone device that was unveiled earlier this year at CES 2013 and sports a 5” display.

Clearly the photo above shows that the Lumia 1520 is the larger of the two, and according to previous leaks and further confirmed by the person who submitted the photos to The Verge, the Lumia 1520 will sport a 6” Full HD display. Previous photos didn’t really show how big a device the Lumia 1520 is, so we guess the new photos should clue you in. Other specs reportedly “confirmed” includes 2GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, 32GB of storage, an SD slot, and will run on the Windows Phone GDR3 update. What do you guys think? Could this be Nokia’s swan song before the brand is dropped by Microsoft?
