Nokia Pro Camera Arrives On Nokia Lumia 925, Lumia 920 And Lumia 928

Nokia Pro Camera Arrives On Nokia Lumia 925, Lumia 920 And Lumia 928 At long last, the Nokia Pro Camera has finally arrived on three more Nokia Lumia devices after we talked about it before, namely the Nokia Lumia 925, the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 928 via its Amber update which has started to roll out from today onwards. The Nokia Pro Camera is said to be a whole lot more than an app, where it is a completely re-imagined user interface which will allow you to gain an even greater sense of control of the entire imaging process and hopefully, will also help you in your quest to unleash that hidden creativity in you.

Of course, the previous PureView smartphones from Nokia – namely the Lumia 920, Lumia 925 and Lumia 928, might not be as great as the Nokia Lumia 1020, but it will also boast innovations that include Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) as well as outstanding low light performance, letting you capture ultra-sharp images. The Nokia Pro Camera apps will deliver a range of digital sliders and clear visual indicators, so that you can have total control over the camera settings including shutter speed (1/16000 to 4 seconds), EV value, ISO (100 to 4,000), White balance and manual focus. Do you think that your photos taken with the Lumia 925, Luima 920 and Lumia 928 will be improved after applying this update?

Nokia Lumia Amber Update Release Begins This Week

Nokia Lumia Amber Update Release Begins This Week

Nokia announced today that the “Lumia Amber” update will be rolled out from this week.. This particular update was expected to be released in July, but has been delayed by nearly one month. Apart from bringing the latest version of the core OS, Windows Phone 8, this update also brings a few updates that are exclusive to Nokia’s WP devices. The company says that the Lumia Amber update should be rolled out to all of its devices by the end of September.

The Nokia specific features include the Pro Camera app that was initially exclusive to the Lumia 1020. The app allows users to adjust exposure, shutter speed, ISO and more apart from offering a number of other advanced shooting options such as manual focus. The Nokia Pro Camera app will be available for Lumia 920, Lumia 925 and the Lumia 928. The update also brings Glance which puts a clock on the device’s lockscreen and allows users to double-tap to wake up the device. To mute an incoming call, all users have to do is flip the device over. Glance will be available on all Lumia devices, except Lumia 520 and 625. The Smart Camera software that was debuted with Lumia 925 is being added to all devices, it brings motion focus options for pictures taken through the camera. The update won’t be immediately available for all devices, roll out depends upon carrier release schedules.

Nokia Amber software update starts today

Starting today, Nokia is beginning to roll out its own update to Lumia devices working with Windows Phone 8, one that brings about a wide range of improvements to key elements inside the phones lucky enough to get it. With Amber, Nokia devices will be gaining boosts in software that build upon Microsoft’s own most […]

Nokia Amber update arriving on Lumia devices: camera improvements, Glance Screen, and plenty more (updated)

Nokia Amber update arriving on Lumia devices camera improvements, Glance Screen, and plenty more

Those unofficial Amber ROMs you (briefly) considered toying with 10 days ago? History. Nokia has just announced that the honest-to-goodness, ready-for-consumption Amber code has been approved, and Lumia owners the world over will begin seeing it hit their Windows Phone 8 handset in the coming days / weeks. The software update is a fairly major one, delivering a wide range of new and improved features and apps, like Nokia Glance Screen with the standby clock and an even better imaging experience that mirrors the one found on the 1020. Users will be graced with a new FM radio player and improvements to Xbox music and the Internet Explorer browser, as well as improved image processing and the Nokia Smart Camera app (which debuted on the Lumia 925).

The Glance Screen acts a bit like the glanceable extras added to the Moto X, but sadly, it won’t be available on the Lumia 520 and Lumia 625, which have a smaller display memory. Longstanding Nokia loyalists will surely appreciate the addition of “Flip to silence” and “double-tap to unlock,” and those who rely heavily on Here maps will find future updates easier to install. The rollout starts now first for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in selected countries as well as the Lumia 521, Lumia 810, and Lumia 928 in the US, while owners of the Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720, Lumia 820 or Lumia 920 will likely have to wait until the end of September.

Update: There’s one more important tidbit: if you’re using a Lumia 920, 925 or 928, you also get the Nokia Pro Camera app.

Nokia Lumia 825 Phablet With Quadcore Processor Rumored

Nokia Lumia 825 Phablet With Quadcore Processor Rumored

Nokia’s Lumia range has been relatively successful in the market, in fact they command over 80 percent of the entire Windows Phone 8 market share around the globe. Time and again it has been rumored that Nokia is going to develop a phablet, a device that will have a display larger than at least 5 inches. Nokia Lumia 825 is said to be one such device, though its probably not going to be the flagship phablet that has been rumored in the past. The Lumia 825 will reportedly have a 5.2 inch display, a quadcore processor and dual SIM capability, which means that the device might only be released in select markets.

It is believed that the Lumia 825 might have a mid-range Qualcomm quadcore processor, such as the Snapdragon 400, likely to be clocked at 1.2GHz, presumably aided by 1GB of RAM. A full 1080p HD resolution display isn’t expected, that is expected in the high-end Nokia phablet that will reportedly have a display of around 6 inches. The fact that it is said to have dual SIM capability, is enough to give rise to speculation that the Lumia 825 might be geared towards emerging markets where consumer interest exists for dual SIM smartphones. No firm release time frame is available as yet for this device, though it is believed that the launch might take place around October. [Image via Dopsy]

Nokia Lumia 625 arriving in the UK later this month

The Nokia Lumia 625 was announced late last month, with an expected arrival date of sometime in September. However, it looks like the Finnish company is moving that date up just a bit, and they have now announced that the budget phone will be coming to UK carriers starting on August 28. The device will […]

Nokia Lumia 625 reaches the UK on August 28th with LTE on three networks

Nokia Lumia 625 arrives in the UK on August 28th

Brits who’ve wanted Nokia’s budget phone ambitions writ large — namely, the Lumia 625 — won’t have to wait much longer. The 4.7-inch Windows Phone will be available on August 28th through EE, O2, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U. If you’re interested, you can pick up the device for free on a £21 per month contract, or buy it outright for £179 on pay-as-you-go service; early adopters get a second colored back as a bonus. EE, O2 and Vodafone should all support the Lumia 625’s LTE either immediately or the day after, so it’s just a matter of choosing the 4G network you prefer.

Nokia Lumia 925 Low-Light Photography Ad Is Hilarious

The Nokia Lumia 925 is one of the company’s latest phones, and given that Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform is exactly a super star compared to iOS and Android in terms of market share, one of the marketing tactics deployed by Microsoft and Nokia would be to compare their products against their competitors. Well Nokia has recently released a new ad in which the Lumia 925’s low-light photography capabilities were highlighted, with the tagline reading, “Night time photos you’ll actually want to share”.

It’s a pretty funny video and while it does not name the iPhone specifically, the camera used in the video is clearly that of an iPhone, showing how Apple’s smartphone is not as effective as the Lumia 925 when it comes to grabbing photos in low-light conditions. Of course one could argue that you could use the flash on your phone to help illuminate your subjects, but flash usually makes the photo a little harsh and unnatural. In any case if you have a minute to spare, you’ll want to check out the hilarious video above.
