Nokia Netflix bundle in Lumia 1020 promo [Update: confirmed plus 925 & 625]
Posted in: Today's ChiliNokia will bundle Netflix streaming video access with new purchases of the Lumia 1020 on select carriers, it’s reported, with the media subscription aiming to sweeten the deal in the competitive UK market over the holiday period. Earlier today at the London O2 Arena, Nokia and Telefonica partnered to launch a 64GB variant of the handset maker’s Lumia 1020 camera phone, a handset sporting a high-resolution 41-megapixel camera on the back. To meet the presumed storage needs of consumers using the handset as a camera, Telefonica specified a variant with twice the […]
In a move that’s sure to bring on a couple of double-takes from prospective Nokia Lumia 1020 users on the fence about pre-orders in the UK, Nokia is bringing the full monty in one swing. Starting this week – today, the 12th, to be exact – Nokia will be attempting to tap the market with […]
The Nokia Lumia 1020 — Nokia’s 41-megapixel cameraphone for the photographically-inclined among us — was given a price cut at certain online retailers this past week, bringing the cost of the handset down to the average rate found on many handsets with two-year contracts. Following this, both AT&T and Microsoft have both announced price slashing […]
Another wave of rumors surrounds Nokia’s (unconfirmed) plans for a next-generation “phablet” sized device in the near future, currently code-named Nokia Lumia 1080. This name would fit right in with the Nokia Lumia 1020, a device revealed just this past month and released to AT&T with a 41-megapixel camera in tow. Releasing a device with […]
As scheduled, AT&T and Nokia have launched the Lumia 1020 this morning on AT&T’s website. It currently lists the device as only being available online, but the phone will be available in AT&T stores later today. The 1020 is Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone, sporting a 41-megapixel camera as its main feature.
The Lumia 1020 was put up for pre-order on the 16th, but if you didn’t end up reserving your own unit, it looks like you still may have some luck, as AT&T’s website isn’t listing the device as sold out yet. You’ll have your choice of color as well, as long as your favorite color is either yellow, black, or white.
The phone is priced at $299 after signing a new two-year contract (or $660 off-contract), which is quite a bit for a new smartphone even considering its revolutionary camera technology on the inside, which makes it one of the more expensive on-contract phones to own currently. However, if the 41MP camera is reeling you in, you should have no reason not to take the bait.
On top of the 1020′s 41MP camera, the device packs in a 4.5-inch display with a 1280×768 resolution. On the inside, there’s a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. And of course, topping it all off is a fresh copy of Windows Phone 8. If you are intrigued by the Nokia Lumia 1020’s wild camera
Nokia announced the Lumia 1020 last week, and right on schedule, AT&T has flipped the switch on pre-orders for the new device that packs in a 41MP camera. The carrier is accepting them now on their website, and you have your choice of color, as long as your favorite color is either yellow, black, or white.
The phone will cost $299 after signing a new two-year contract (or $660 off-contract), which is quite a bit for a new smartphone even considering its revolutionary camera technology on the inside, making it one of the more expensive on-contract phones to own currently. You can check out our hands-on of the device to learn more.
The Lumia 1020 will be available starting on July 23 and AT&T’s website lists the phone with a ship date of the 23rd, so if you order online, you won’t get your shiny new Lumia 1020 until at least a couple of days after the launch date of the device, which could be a problem for some people that don’t have the patience of waiting around. Furthermore, ordering online and picking up in the store isn’t available for the Lumia 1020 right now.
In slight-related news, the teardowns are beginning to arrive for Nokia’s new device, thanks to a disassembly manual that has popped up online that gives you a step-by-step on how to access the internal guts of the camera-equipped smartphone. It’s no iFixit teardown, but we should be that one sooner or later.
Nokia is also sending out an update for its Lumia range of Windows Phone device that will enable Bluetooth 4.0 in order to support newer fitness-tracking devices and accessories. The Verge says that sources have revealed that the update will allow compatibility with the Fitbit and a range of new accessories that Nokia will be outing soon. Most of Nokia’s Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices will be updated, since many of the devices include a Bluetooth 4.0 chip.
