NVIDIA Tegra TAB coming with Tegra 4 chip, 7-inch display, stylus

NVIDIA Tegra TAB coming with Tegra 4 chip, 7inch display, stylus

Thanks to another revealing pass through the FCC, we now know more about NVIDIA’s upcoming P1640 mystery tablet, starting with a likely name: the Tegra TAB. An internal photo shows that it’ll have a Tegra 4 variant we’ve not seen before, a mid-range 7-inch, 1,280 x 800 IPS display and a 3200 or 4100mAh battery. An included manual also reveals a stock-looking flavor of Android Jelly Bean, a front HD camera, 5-megapixel rear camera and, interestingly, a stylus — along with apps for it. There’s no other details, and we’re still not sure if NVIDIA will be selling the device itself or through OEMs. Either way, it’s clearly more than just a developer device like the Tegra 4i Phoenix, so we wouldn’t be shocked to see it on the market soon.

Xiaomi Mi3 Is First Tegra 4 Smartphone

Xiaomi Mi3 Is First Tegra 4 SmartphoneXiaomi and NVIDIA have announced that the flagship phone from Xaiomi, the Mi3 is now officially the first Tegra 4 phone which will be able to access games from TegraZone. The Mi3 comes with a 5” 1080p display (441ppi) and up to 64GB of internal storage. The clock frequency details of this Tegra 4 phone were not immediately disclosed (do we really care that much?), but we know that this can slightly vary from vendor to vendor, depending on the thermal design of each phone. Overall, we would expect it to get performance close to the NVIDIA Shield, but keep in mind that NVIDIA’s portable console has a beefy cooling system. (more…)

NVIDIA Tegra Note tablet poses for glamor shots with stylus and cover in tow

NVIDIA Tegra Note tablet poses for glamor shots with stylus and flip cover in tow

Not satisfied with tiny, blurry photos of NVIDIA’s self-branded tablet? We don’t blame you — and neither does ChinaDIY, which just posted clear snapshots of the unannounced device. Labeled with a previously rumored Tegra Note badge, the 7-inch slate on display has a Galaxy Note-like detachable stylus and a removable cover that doubles as a stand. While there aren’t many other details to learn from the powered-off unit, we’ve noticed both a micro-HDMI port and a microSD card slot. We’re still left with the question of who the Tegra Note is for, however — it’s not certain whether this is a reference design or a consumer product. While we wait for answers, you can check out a photo of the tablet’s front after the break or visit ChinaDIY for the full gallery.

NVIDIA Tegra Tab P1640 Spotted In Taiwan NCC

NVIDIA Tegra Tab P1640 Spotted In Taiwan NCCNVIDIA’s involvement in the Android-powered tablet market has seen another device surface, although this time around, it will be making its way to the Taiwan National Communications Commission for regulatory approval. This particular filing depicted the NVIDIA Tegra Tab, where it was accompanied by model number P1640, which has been sent in to test both of its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, while glaringly lacking any cellular radios of note.

The filing depicts a tablet that is similar in appearance to some of the other more detailed images which were leaked out from China sometime in the middle of last month. Very little is known about its internal components at the moment, it is believed to hold some kind of Tegra-based processor underneath the hood, and the Tegra 4 could very well be it. If that were the case, then it would be the same that was used in the Shield handheld gaming system. The missing carrier connectivity does seem to be rather out of place though, don’t you think so? NVIDIA did filed for the Tegra Tab trademark in the US earlier this year in April, but other than that, nothing much has been seen on the part of NVIDIA to offer products under the banner.

NVIDIA Tablet P1640 Spotted At Taiwan’s NCC

NVIDIA Tablet P1640 Spotted At Taiwans NCCBack in August it was rumored that NVIDIA could be working on creating an Android tablet of their own, and now thanks to a sighting by Blog of Mobile, the alleged device has been spotted at Taiwan’s National Communications Commission. The model number of the device has been revealed to be the P1640 and while the exact specifications of the device remains unknown for now, some features include Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity which we guess is a given. Presumably the device will also be powered by NVIDIA’s own Tegra 4 SoC.

We guess the tablet sighting isn’t too surprising given that earlier this year, NVIDIA announced a new strategy in which the company would design and develop the devices themselves, but would sell them under different brands, meaning that a company like ASUS, Acer, Samsung, and etc. could buy a ready-made tablet by NVIDIA, but be able to sell it under their own branding. We guess this option would appeal to companies that do not have the scale to manufacture their own tablets or do not have the money to purchase the technology of patents that would allow them to do so. It is not clear as to when NVIDIA plans to unveil this tablet officially, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

NVIDIA-branded mystery tablet passes through Taiwan’s NCC

NVIDIA tablet spotted at Taiwan regulator, keeps most of its secrets

Rumors have circulated of an NVIDIA-designed Android tablet, but there has been little hard evidence of its existence. Thankfully, NVIDIA just provided some clues of its own: as Blog of Mobile noticed, the company recently sent a self-branded P1640 tablet to Taiwan’s National Communications Commission for approval. While the filing reveals few details of the hardware apart from the expected presences of Bluetooth and 802.11n WiFi, it’s safe to presume that the slate uses an NVIDIA-made processor like the Tegra 4. The real mystery is the P1640’s intended audience. When NVIDIA already has a Tegra 4 reference tablet, the new design isn’t necessarily built for internal use; it could also be a developer device or a consumer product like Shield. It’s not clear if or when NVIDIA will announce the tablet, but you can check out a second NCC photo of the gadget after the break.
