Microsoft OneDrive For BlackBerry 10 ArrivesBlackBerry owners who find the cloud a fascinating place for you to stash away your collection of files and content will be pleased to hear that BlackBerry World now carries their very own Microsoft OneDrive app. The OneDrive app has already arrived on other platforms, Android included, where you will be able to determine whether you would want to have pictures as well as videos saved there automatically. Apart from photos and videos, one can also opt to share other important files and documents, too. This particular app would pave the way for the user to edit documents, or to even drop a comment or two on them while you are on the move – which can prove crucial in the business environment. Last but not least, one is able to work with online files on your BlackBerry 10 handset directly, now how about that?

Microsoft Stores Offering Free 100GB To OneDrive Users

Microsoft Stores Offering Free 100GB To OneDrive UsersEarlier we had reported how Microsoft had officially launched OneDrive, which was basically the rebranding of SkyDrive, Microsoft’s cloud storage services. According to our earlier report, it was suggested that OneDrive users would be able to earn themselves additional free storage by referring their friends/family members to the service, where every referral would nab them an additional 500MB, with a total of 5GB up for grabs. Well if you think that 5GB isn’t enough, how does 100GB sound to you? Earlier Microsoft had teased users, prompting them to login at 11:11AM PT, and for those who did, they were given 100GB in free storage. Obviously the deal is now over, but the good news is that it is still applicable if you were to walk into a Microsoft Store.

This is according to a tweet by @OneDrive where OneDrive users would be able to win themselves an additional 100GB in storage if they were to walk into a Microsoft Store and speak to a rep about it. Basically you’d need to tell the rep that you want to activate a free OneDrive account, or show them proof that you have an existing OneDrive account, and you’d be good to go! Unfortunately this deal is limited to the first 10,000 across all of Microsoft’s physical stores in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The next 20,000 customers will be getting a consolation prize of 20GB, which we guess is still pretty good. This promotion will be valid starting from today until the 24th of February at 2:59AM ET.

Microsoft’s OneDrive Name Enters Into Another Legal Dispute

onedriveIt was just a couple of days ago that we brought you word of Microsoft announcing a rebranding of their SkyDrive service, where it is now known as the OneDrive brand. The reason behind this rebranding exercise is not because the company has too much money and time on their hands that they do not know what to do with it, but rather, after Microsoft went into a dispute with British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB, which trades as ‘Sky’), where the latter claimed that Microsoft’s SkyDrive brand would have infringed upon its own trademark. However, the OneDrive brand has opened the door to another dispute, as Thomas Medard Frederiksen, chief operating officer of One.com, claims that his company is now “consulting trademark experts” after the rebranding exercise, citing that OneDrive happens to share a moniker which is too close for One.com’s very own cloud service.

Select OneDrive Users Receiving Extra 20GB Of Storage

onedriveAs you might have heard the news by now, Microsoft has recently renamed their SkyDrive cloud storage service to OneDrive, and as part of that rebranding process, it seems that Microsoft has also reached out to loyal OneDrive users and offered them an additional free 20GB of storage. According to reports, Microsoft has started to send out emails informing these selected users that they will receive extra storage space as thanks for remaining loyal to the OneDrive service. We’re not sure what sort of requirements one has to meet in order to qualify for the extra storage (it has been speculated that it might only be for paying customers), but if you have been using the service for a while, be sure to keep an eye out on your inbox for the email!

This is not the first time that Microsoft has given out free storage. Back in 2013, Microsoft also gave early adopters of Outlook.com extra free storage, and the same was then applied to Windows Phone customers who were given an extra 20GB of storage themselves. In any case if you’re a OneDrive user who has been given the extra 20GB of storage, do let us know in the comments below, and for those who did not get the extra space, we’re sorry to hear!

Microsoft Introduces OneDrive As A SkyDrive Rebrand

onedriveThere is nothing quite like a rebranding exercise once in a while to make sure that your product remains fresh in peoples’ memories, not to mention ensuring that it enters into the consciousness of many. Microsoft has just rebranded their cloud storage service to OneDrive, where it was formerly known as SkyDrive. This move came about after the software giant had a dispute with British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB) concerning the SkyDrive moniker. I guess you can call OneDrive the cloud service formerly known as SkyDrive. All right, that was pretty lame.

SkyDrive Is Now OneDrive, Until Microsoft Gets Sued Again

Microsoft’s SkyDrive is a terrific little cloud service that doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. Unless, of course, it’s being sued by British Sky Broadcasting Group over its name. But now SkyDrive will be called OneDrive, for just as long as is legally allowable.
