OS X Mavericks Is Here Today and It’s Free!

OS X Mavericks Is Here Today and It's Free!

When Apple introduced the latest version of OS X back in June, it did so with little bombast. Mavericks, as it’s called, is no iOS 7 in terms of radical overhauls, but it is full of subtle however powerful behind-the-scenes changes. And the best part about it? It’s free, and it’s available right now.

Some users have noticed an update this week of their Safari desktop web browser app bringing about an OS X Mavericks-specific feature: Push Notifications for their Notifications Center. New OS X Mavericks GM Build Released

New OS X Mavericks GM Build ReleasedApple has recently released a Golden Master build of its upcoming operating system, OS X Mavericks, and for those unfamiliar, a Golden Master build is essentially the final version of the beta and it is also the same version that non-beta testers can look forward to once the software has been officially released to the public. In any case it seems that a day before their 22nd of October event, Apple has quietly released an updated version of the Golden Master build of OS X Mavericks with the new build number being 13A603 which is higher compared to the previous release where its build number was 13A598.

While it is unclear as to what sort of changes Apple made, it is speculated that this was not a planned update and that it was probably released to address some bugs that were spotted at the last minute, which we guess we can’t really complain about. For developers looking to get their hands on the latest build, it will not be available via the Mac App Store, but instead developers will need to hit up the Dev Center for the direct download. OS X Mavericks was announced back in the middle of the year during Apple’s WWDC 2013 event, but it is believed that the software will finally see a release, or at least have a release date shared on Apple’s 22nd of October event which will also see the launch of new iPads amongst other things.

Apple Asking Developers To Submit Apps For OS X Mavericks

Apple Asking Developers To Submit Apps For OS X MavericksApple’s OS X Mavericks was announced in the middle of the year during the Cupertino company’s WWDC 2013 event, and while a Fall release date was mentioned, no specific dates were provided. However with Apple confirming their 22nd of October event, it is widely believed that is when Apple will officially release OS X Mavericks to the masses, or at least provide us with a date to look forward to. In any case it definitely looks like Apple is gearing up for a release as they have since notified developers and are asking them to submit and update their apps to take advantage of some of the new features of the upcoming operating system.

According to the notification, “Make sure your app takes advantage of the great new features in OS X Mavericks when the world’s most advanced desktop operating system becomes available to millions of customers later this fall. Download OS X Mavericks GM seed and Xcode 5.0.1 GM seed, now available on the Mac Dev Center. Build your apps with these latest seeds, then test and submit them to the Mac App Store.” As it stands OS X Mavericks has been released in as a GM build so a release in the near future is more than likely. Check back with us on the 22nd of October for the details.

Apple Reportedly Readying OS X 10.9.1 Update

Apple Reportedly Readying OS X 10.9.1 Update

Earlier this year at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced OS X 10.9 Mavericks. This is the first time in years that Apple has not named a major OS X release after a big cat. That’s not the only change that has been made. Mavericks brings as many as 200 new features and improvements. Since WWDC 2013, Mavericks has only been available to developers. Apple is yet to roll it out to the public, who are without a doubt anxiously waiting for it. It appears that Apple is already readying OS X 10.9.1 update which is expected to be released soon after Mavericks goes live.

Last friday Apple seeded the GM build of Mavericks, after which it was reported that the team has now moved on to developing OS X 10.10, the next major OS update that’s expected next year. Rumor has it that Apple has internally seeded a number of OS X 10.9.1 builds to its employees. It is not expected to bring any major features, only bug fixes and performance improvements are likely to be onboard. A rumor suggests that perhaps OS X 10.9.1 might bring the ability to block iMessages and FaceTime calls from certain contacts, though there has been no confirmation of that as yet. Apple hasn’t provided a concrete release date for OS X Mavericks, though it is believed that the launch will take place towards the end of this month through the Mac App Store.
