Panasonic’s Upcoming GH Mirrorless Camera Will Have 4K Video Recording

Panasonics Upcoming GH Mirrorless Camera Will Have 4K Video RecordingIs 4K the way of the future? Will the new UHD resolution replace FHD? We guess it’s only a matter of time before it does, given the way of things, and perhaps hoping to encourage more 4K video is none other than Panasonic who teased a new GH mirrorless camera at CES 2014 which the company promises will allow for recording of 4K video. We’re afraid to think how much memory/storage 4K videos will take up, but we guess for those looking to embrace the format, the upcoming Panasonic GH camera will be able to get the job done, and then some. According to Panasonic, the video can be recorded at 200 Mbps and output them as a live feed via a mini HDMI port onto a computer or a hard drive.

Of course one can always save the footage onto a SDXC card, but as we said earlier, there is a good chance you will run out storage fairly quickly due to the file size being extremely large. Unfortunately the rest of Panasonic’s GH camera remains a mystery for now, but according to the company, they plan on unveiling the camera in full come February 2014. Pricing will presumably be announced then as well, but for now some have speculated that such a device could be priced anywhere up to $2,000. Either way check back with us in February for all the details. In the meantime who else is looking forward to a camera capable of 4K video capture?

Panasonic 4K Life+Screen Television Eyes-On: Life After Plasma

Yesterday, Panasonic says that its new 4K LED Life+Screen TVs have picture quality that’s just as good as its recently murdered plasma line. I spent some time with the 85-incher. Plasma was wonderful, but everything’s gonna be OK. There can still be beauty.

    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS40 Compact Camera

Panasonic LUMIX DMC ZS40 Compact Camera [CES 2014] Not all digital compact cameras are created equal, although at times, I do wonder as to the wisdom of churning out point-and-shoot models considering how the high end smartphone cameras these days are able to deliver pretty decent shots. Well, CES 2014 is the platform for the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS40 to shine, where this particular compact camera will boast of 30x Ultra Zoom capability alongside Wi-Fi and NFC capability, not to mention GPS navigation. Not only that, it comes with a fully flexible manual shooting mode and 60p Full HD video recording capability to boot.

This super slim digital compact camera will feature a LVF (Live View Finder) that boasts of a powerful 30x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 24-720mm) and it will also boast of functions that will help you enjoy a more advanced level of photography including a Control Ring, RAW compatibility and Focus Peaking. Panasonic has also successfully integrated a 24mm ultra wide-angle 30x zoom lens into a slim, flat body and the advanced HYBRID O.I.S.+ (Hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) that should do its job in eliminating the shaky hands effect whenever you shoot a photo or capture a video. Are there any takers for the Lumix DMC-ZS40? [Press Release]

Panasonic And Mozilla Work On Firefox OS Open Platform For Next Generation Smart TVs

Panasonic And Mozilla Work On Firefox OS Open Platform For Next Generation Smart TVs[CES 2014] There is nothing quite like good, old fashioned collaboration between companies to churn out something useful for the masses. Both the folks over at Panasonic Corporation and Mozilla have announced that they will be working together to develop and promote the new Firefox OS, which happens to be an open platform that is based on HTML5 as well as other Web technologies, targeting next generation smart TVs as the platform of choice. This development of the new Firefox OS platform intends to deliver additional access into smart TVs through the leverage of both HTML5 and Web technologies that are already prevalent on PCs, smartphones and tablets.

In a nutshell, it will be able to open up the doors for consumers to enjoy a more personalized and optimized access to Web and broadcasting content as well as services over the Internet. This would mean that next generation smart TVs will be able to enjoy full compatibility with Web technologies and HTML5 standards that are more often than not used for cloud services and different kinds of future networked devices, including the enablement of data from Web services and devices which can be easily mashed up on a single application. The living room is starting to look like a very nice place to cozy up to at all times. [Press Release]
