Sony Full-Frame E-Mount Cameras Expected To Be Announced In Next 5 Months [Rumor]

Sony Full Frame E Mount Cameras Expected To Be Announced In Next 5 Months [Rumor]Photographers if you are looking forward to some full-frame E-mount cameras from Sony, word on the street has it that Sony could be announcing three such models in the next 5 months. This is according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors who seem pretty convinced that the three models could be announced by then. According to the information they have received, two of the models are expected to be part of Sony’s NEX category of E-mount devices, while the third model is expected to be part of Sony’s new ILC category of E-mount cameras, and just like the ILC-3000, it will be shaped like a DSLR as well.

The first model is expected to be announced soon and should be available for purchase before Christmas. Out of the three models, one is expected to be a cheaper model, and the other is expected to be a more expensive one, so it looks like Sony could be appealing to professionals and those who might have a smaller budget. No specific dates were mentioned but we’ll keep our eyes peeled, but until we hear the official word from Sony themselves, do take it with a grain of salt for now. In the meantime who else is looking forward to getting their hands on some full-frame E-mount cameras?

Sony To Release API For Their WiFi-Enabled Cameras

Sony To Release API For Their WiFi Enabled CamerasOne of the great things about having WiFi-enabled cameras is that it allows photographers to transfer their photos or videos onto their mobile devices wirelessly without having to continuously plug in and remove a cable for transfer. At the same time given how many of us own a smartphone these days, we’re sure there are photographers out there who feel that the apps used in wireless transfers could be better, and hopefully with Sony releasing the API for a number of their cameras, developers will be able to come up with some creative and useful ideas for future apps.

At the moment only 8 Sony cameras are compatible with the Camera Remote API beta that Sony has released. This includes the NEX-6, NEX-5R, NEX-5T, DSC-QX100, DSC-QX10, and the HDR-MV1, along with two more Action Cam models. Sony is expected to add more cameras to the supported list in the future, but for now those are the 8 models that developers will be able to work with.  We’re not sure what sort of apps developers will be able to cook up, but features such as Photo Uploaders and Time Lapse Control are some of the features suggested by Sony.

Olympus Sends Out Invites For 10th September, Possible E-M1 Announcement

Olympus Sends Out Invites For 10th September, Possible E M1 AnnouncementJust the other day Olympus posted a teaser image in which the company teased that a new camera and possibly new lenses could be announced in the near future, and sure enough it looks like that time is soon. Olympus has recently started to hand out invites for a press event that will be held on the 10th of September which appears to be held in Taiwan. This is according to the folks at Digicame-info who originally published the invite on their website.

It is unconfirmed as to what Olympus could announce at their event, but some are speculating that the announcement could be for its Olympus E-M1 camera, along with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm f/2.8 lens. The Olympus E-M1 has been rumored for a while now, since back in July earlier this year. Alleged diagrams and specifications of the camera have been making their rounds on the internet, but we guess we will have to wait for the official event and unveiling to see if the leaks and rumors have panned out. In any case do check back with us on the 10th of September for the details.

Sony DSC-QX10 And DSC-QX100 Pre-Orders Available At Amazon

Sony DSC QX10 And DSC QX100 Pre Orders Available At Amazon

Earlier today Sony finally announced the much rumored DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 “Lens Style Cameras.” They are standalone cameras that look like lenses, but they can actually be mounted on a phone and be used as a grip, remote control and a viewfinder. If you were wondering when Sony will release these cameras, wonder no more. Pre-orders for both lens cameras are now live at Amazon, they will be shipped on September 27th.

The Sony DSC-QX100 has a 1 inch 20.2 megapixel sensor, F/1.8 lens and 3.6x optical zoom. It also has a manual focus and zoom ring. This particular camera costs $500, Amazon offers a $1.99 discount with Prime shipping. Sony DSC-QX10 is relatively cheaper. It has the 18.2 megapixel sensor instead of the 20.2 one, and a slower F/3.3 lens.. However, the cheaper options makes up for its shortcomings with 10x optical zoom. Amazon is offering it for $248. Both cameras are available in black and white colors. It can’t really be speculated right now how these lens cameras will perform in the market. Sony has thought out of the box quite evidently, but it remains to be seen if consumers adapt to them at a large scale. We’ve already posted our hands-on review of Sony’s new lens cameras, do stop by if you want to know more about the product.

Sony’s AS30 “Action Cam” Has Arrived

Sonys AS30 Action Cam Has ArrivedIt has already been one year since Sony entered the “action cam” market with the AS10 camera. The AS30 is the second generation of Sony camera to cover this segment and Sony has applied lessons learned from the first iteration. On the outside, the AS30 looks very similar to the AS10, but the first visible difference is that the new waterproof housing is much smaller (and cheaper) than the original one. Sony points out that the first waterproof case is still available for those who want to dive very deep, but most people can do just fine with the new, smaller case. (more…)

Sony Cyber-shot DSC QX100 and DSC-QX10 “Lens Style cameras”

Sony Cyber shot DSC QX100 and DSC QX10 “Lens Style cameras”

    Sony Cyber-shot DSC QX10

We all know that a large part of photos and videos are shot from smartphones, and the point and shoot camera market share is shrinking. According to a NPD Group study published in December 2011, consumers now take more than a quarter of all photos and videos on smartphones.

Inventing the next generation camera that will be competitive in the smartphone market has become a necessity for manufacturers. Sony has often been at the forefront of product innovation in the past, and with the release of its new “Lens Style Camera”, the company exceeded our expectations. Basically, the Cyber-shot DSC QX100 and DSC-QX10 are stand-alone cameras that look like lenses and that can be attached to a phone to use it as a grip, a view finder and a remote control.

Sony Smart Shot Promo Video Leaked Ahead Of Announcement

On the 4th of September, Sony is expected to unveil a couple of new products, like the Sony Xperia Z1 and their lens camera accessory, the Smart Shot. Now thanks to a leaked video, what appears to be a promotional video for the upcoming Smart Shot has made its way online and has given us a glimpse as to what we might be able to expect at Sony’s official announcement. The video basically confirms several features of the upcoming accessory, such as its ability to pair with smartphones via NFC (and presumably Bluetooth as well), along with some of its features, such as manual controls, Zeiss lens, and etc.

Sony is expected to announce two versions of the Smart Shot accessory. One will be the QX10 and the other will be the QX100. The QX100 is said to feature the same sensor found on the Sony RX100MII camera which means that it should prove to be a pretty decent camera add-on, while the QX10 will be based on the Sony WX150 camera. Either way we expect Sony to share with us the details in full in the next few hours during their press event at IFA 2013 in Berlin, so check back with us then for the details, or you can check out the video above to get a brief idea of what to expect.

New Canon EOS M Announcement Coming Soon [Rumor]

New Canon EOS M Announcement Coming Soon [Rumor]We have been hearing rumors that Canon is set to launch a new EOS M camera, and according to the folks at Canon Rumors, they have been tipped off that a launch for the alleged device is coming soon. Apparently Canon will be announcing two new EOS M cameras, one of them being a slight upgrade over the current EOS M, while the other will be a more higher-end device, although the exact specifications of either camera remain unknown at this point in time. For those familiar with the current EOS M, we guess a slight upgrade will not be hard to imagine, while the alleged higher-end EOS M could come with an EVF as one of its features.

The new EOS M is also expected to be priced much lower than the current model, making it more accessible to the masses, not to mention probably providing a nice price contrast compared to the higher-end model. It has also been rumored to come in a variety of colors which we guess would make it more appealing to consumers who are a bit sick of the regular black finish. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but no word on when we could be seeing an announcement ,but hopefully “coming soon” means in the next couple of weeks, not months, but do check back with us at a later date for the details.

Sony A7000 (ILC-7000) Camera Photo Leaked

Sony A7000 (ILC 7000) Camera Photo LeakedSo we have heard that Sony could be announcing the A3000 (ILC-3000) entry-level E-mount camera, but apparently it seems that Sony has more cameras planned for their new ILC category and thanks to a photo obtained by the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, we now have our first look at the upcoming Sony A7000, or ILC-7000 which it could be known by in other markets. This is the first we’ve heard of the A7000 and according to the rumored specifications, this will be a semi pro E-mount camera that will utilize the Z-shift sensor.

For those unfamiliar with the Z-shift sensor, this is a sensor that can move up to 18mm within the camera itself to allow for better focusing even when paired with third-party lenses from Canon or Nikon. Unfortunately apart from the leaked image and the Z-shift sensor, not much else is known about the A7000 at this point in time, but hopefully Sony will have something to share in the near future. So for those who think that the A7000 could be a camera of great interest to them, be sure to check back with us at a later date to see if there are any other additional details that can be had.
