Supposing you’ve already gotten an in-dash receiver this year – inside 2014, that is – and you bought it from Pioneer, you’re in for an Apple-flavored treat. The company has … Continue reading
Earlier this month, Apple unveiled their new vehicle initiative called CarPlay. This was basically a rebranding of iOS in the Car that was shown off last year. CarPlay is a good idea but unfortunately it requires vehicle manufacturers to participate in the program and install the system into vehicles.
Apple has done a good job of getting a variety of manufacturers to come on board CarPlay, but unfortunately not all vehicle models will get it, so even if there are many manufacturers, there aren’t that many supported vehicles, which is something that Pioneer is hoping to rectify. (more…)

Pioneer has just announced the Pioneer DJE-2000 and Pioneer DJE-1500 in-ear headphones, where either one of these are able to offer DJs a professional option when it comes to in-ear monitoring, as well as whenever one is preparing sets on the move. There is not much choice to pick from where color is concerned since you can only choose from either black or white shades, but at the end of the day, it is not the color that matters, but performance. The Pioneer DJE range would boast of powerful sound across the frequencies, superior noise dampening, and secure over-ear and in-ear positions to deliver maximum comfort for hours on end.

Pioneer’s CDJ900NXS brings new performance features to its slightly less pricey DJ deck
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf your raison d’être is eat, sleep, rave, repeat, then you might want to cop a look at Pioneer’s new CDJ900NXS. Much like the CDJ2000nexus was to its predecessor, the new deck is just a CDJ900 after a tickle with the feature brush, rather than a full overhaul. No bad thing though, as the original ‘900 is a great player, and the one that introduced the coveted “Slip Mode” into Pioneer’s CDJ line. So what’s new this time? Like the revamped 2000, you can browse media with artwork, or custom views. Auto Beat Loop is sent to pasture in lieu of a new Beat Divide function and there’s a new Slip Loop feature — plus four-deck Beat Sync and the Quantize button we first saw on the CDJ2000NXS. The CDJ900NXS also gets an improved screen, and is WiFi compatible — to add to the already long list of ways to send media to it (USB, Ethernet, CD etc.). If the new features light up your LEDs, then expect to pay £1,149/1,399€ a piece when it launches next month. In the meantime, there’s a pair of demo videos past the break to whet your appetite.

Time Machines: Silver platters
Posted in: Today's ChiliWelcome to Time Machines, where we offer up a selection of mechanical oddities, milestone gadgets and unique inventions to test out your tech-history skills.
It bears a passing resemblance to the vinyl record, but this futuristic concept was envisioned as more than just sound on a platter. The recording method involved electron beams and lasers; the base material was a coated, transparent plastic disc; and you’d get both an eyeful and an earful from the end product. Its intended goal in the market may have initially flubbed, but its core design has been patently embedded into a variety of successful formats ever since. Take a spin past the break to find out more about this invention.
Pioneer To Re-Enter TV Market
Posted in: Today's ChiliMore than four and a half years ago, we brought you word that Pioneer had already announced that they were ready to throw in the towel where its TV business was concerned. It does seem as though the company is about to perform a U-turn on their decision, as Pioneer recently announced that they will make a return to the TV market, although on a far smaller scale. This re-entry into the TV market would come in the form of it being an exclusive brand for Dixons. Those who happen to be huge fans of the Kuro plasma displays will be disappointed, since Pioneer’s efforts will extend to just manufacturing 1080p LED models that will arrive in just three sizes – namely 40”, 46” and 55”.
Of course, to make sure that they keep up with the times, the trio of LED TVs will arrive with 3D capability as well as Smart TV support, not to mention boasting a slew of connection options that will range from HDMI to USB and Wi-Fi. The new sets from Pioneer will be marketed and sold by Dixons in the Nordic countries when they launch later this December (just in time for Christmas!), and there are already plans to introduce them in the UK sometime down the road.
