Emulator Cabinet Works with 75 Controllers, 30+ Consoles and 2 Happy Players

These days you can run dozens of classic games on a PC using emulators. If you’re good with modding hardware, you may be able to connect the right controller for the console you’re emulating. But if you’re Patrice Daubaire, you take it one step further. Patrice hacked 75 controllers to make them compatible with over 110 gaming systems.

Patrice calls his ingenious mod the Multi Video Game System 2 or MVGS 2. He managed to universalize 75 controllers – from an Atari 2600 joystick to aPlayStation controller – so that they’ll work with different gaming systems via a custom VGA adapter. Patrice claims his system has zero input lag and that the controllers weigh more or less the same as unmodified ones. Patrice was also able to add additional functions like a quick save button on some of the controllers.

To present his invention, Patrice built the MVGS 2 Dream Station, a PC with over 30 gaming system emulators. It has a nice cabinet with a built-in monitor and lets up to two players geek out. He also setup a rotating display stand for the controllers.

Pick your jaw up from the floor and head to the MVGS 2 website for more information.

PlayStation Vita Remote Play turns on PS4

Back in May, Sony confirmed gamers would be able to play all of their PlayStation 4 games on the PlayStation Vita thanks to Remote Play. We got a good, hands-on look at this ability at Gamescom 2013, along with word of a price cut. Even so, it’s looking like Remote Play functionality extends beyond mere […]

Gran Turismo 6 For The PS4 Might Evolve To Gran Turismo 7, According To Polyphony Boss

Gran Turismo 6 For The PS4 Might Evolve To Gran Turismo 7, According To Polyphony BossEarlier this year Gran Turismo 6 was announced much to the delight of fans around the world. Unfortunately the game was announced for the PlayStation 3, which was a little weird given that Sony had already unveiled the PlayStation 4 and many had presumed Gran Turismo 6 would arrive on the PS4. The semi-good news back then was that a PS4 version of the game was being planned, but speaking recently during gamescom 2013 in Germany, Polyphony Digital’s CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, revealed that by the time Gran Turismo 6 made its way onto the PS4, it could very well have evolved to Gran Turismo 7 by then.

This was a hypothetical scenario that Yamauchi imagined as it would take a while for Gran Turismo 6 to arrive on the PS4, along with the uncertainty that the vision of Gran Turismo 6 would be able to carry over to Gran Turismo 7. Unfortunately this doesn’t leave us with much to work on since it doesn’t deny nor does it confirm that the game will arrive on the PlayStation 4. In any case for gamers looking forward to Gran Turismo 6, you might want to hold off on selling your PlayStation 3 for now.

State of the PS Vita: Sony’s portable gets a second lease on life

State of the PS Vita Sony's portable gets a second lease on life

Consoles don’t ever really come back from the dead, they just usually become niche. But the PlayStation Vita, Sony’s redheaded portable stepchild, is currently having its Lazarus moment more than a year after release; a solid second chance at relevance. It’s a resurrection owed entirely to the indie community, a fact Sony’s more than happy to acknowledge — just look at the company’s recent marketing and Gamescom presser for proof. But before we talk Vita 2.0 and the promising future ahead, let’s rewind a bit to examine the missteps that almost pushed Sony’s powerhouse portable off a cliff.

    Hands-On: PS4 Review

    Hands On: PS4 Review

Me, playing with the PS4 during E3

The PlayStation 4 will ship later this year and since many people may pre-order it based on pre-release information available on the web (like I did), I thought that posting a hands-on review based on the experience gathered from the initial launch and from on our “hands-on” experience of the console at E3 would make sense. By now, most of the PS4-related information is expected to remain unchanged until the public availability, and basically you’re not going to get to know much more (besides launch titles) until the retail units arrive, so here is everything that we do know about PS4. Let’s see if it is for you. (more…)
