PlayStation Now–the streaming game service–will, weirdly, require a proprietary DualShock controll
Posted in: Today's ChiliPlayStation Now—the streaming game service—will, weirdly, require a proprietary DualShock controller to play PS3 games on TVs, phones and tablets.
So PlayStation Now works. Like really. Like what the heck are you sure there isn’t a PlayStation tucked away behind this TV and hidden somehow behind this Vita works. It’s incredible because it doesn’t feel incredible, if that makes any sense. You can play streaming games without any game console, and that’s pretty damn impressive.
DualShock 3 A Requirement For PlayStation Now Gameplay On Smartphones And Tablets
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you are an early adopter of technology, and have always picked up the latest in technology all the time, do not ditch your previous generation hardware just yet. Take the DualShock 3 controller for example – it is a prerequisite requirement at the moment if you want to get jiggy with PlayStation titles that are streamed to smartphones and tablets using PlayStation Now, at least according to the folks over at Sony.
This particular bit of news has been confirmed by SCEA marketing exec John Koller, who mentioned that PlayStation Now titles which are streamed to mobile devices will “need to go through the DualShock”, and as at press time, alternative touch-based methods will not be on the cards. Koller shared, “The DualShock remains the key ingredient. So that controller experience needs to go perfectly. We didn’t want to utilise touch screen or anything like that because the games are best played with a DualShock. It requires the DualShock. The DualShock 3 specifically. To enable tablet and smartphone play, you’ve got to have the DualShock 3.”
Do bear in mind that a DualShock 3 is not a requirement for PS Now gameplay to happen on the PS4, as that is where the DualShock 4 comes in handy.
