PS Vita Slim To Arrive In UK This February 7

ps-vita-slim-ukSony claims that they have the ‘slimmest’ launch in history all lined up just last week, and we do not doubt that for a moment as we have received word that the PlayStation Vita Slim will arrive in the UK this coming February 7, although there has been no permanent US release date scheduled just yet. This is certainly different from the usual procedure that sees something released in the US first before it makes its way across the pond. Ah well, win some, lose some, no?

Kama Stereo Headset headed for PS4 and PS Vita

triton-kamaSo you have decided to jump aboard the handheld console bandwagon, and realized that you prefer to pick on the beefier PS Vita from Sony rather than Nintendo’s 3DS console. Having said that, a pair of decent headphones for the PS Vita (or the Nintendo 3DS for that matter) is important if you want to make the most out of it as the built-in speakers on the PS Vita are not going to cut the mustard for any self-respecting gamer. Hence, the Kama Stereo Headset from Mad Catz is here to save the day, where it delivers affordable quality, comfort and a level of unprecedented simplicity to PS4 and PS Vita owners.

It will not skimp on quality despite carrying a $29.99 price tag, as the Kama Stereo Headset will boast of components derived from TRITTON’s premium headsets, where it will still be able to deliver an impressive audio performance. It has also been specially built for the PS4’s multiplayer online environments, letting you enjoy a comfortable audio experience while simplifying online chat. You can opt to hook it up to just about any device that has a 3.5mm jack, or connect it directly to the PlayStation 4 DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller – it does not matter. Not only that, Mad Catz has also thrown in a flexible performance microphone and uncomplicated inline audio controls to the Kama Stereo Headset that will further enhance your online gaming experience.

It might be a “poor man’s version” of the higher end models from Mad Catz, but this does not mean it will skimp on quality and give you sub-par performance associated with throwaway headsets. In fact, the Kama stereo headset will boast of components derived from TRITTON’s premium headsets, hence allowing it to deliver impressive audio performance and exceptional value for money.

Sony Blames Smartphones And Tablets For Poor PS Vita Sales

Sony Blames Smartphones And Tablets For Poor PS Vita SalesOur smartphones these days are more than capable of playing video games. In fact some of the games for smartphones have been beautifully designed, like the Infinity Blade franchise, for example, so in terms of graphics, saying that our phones can’t handle it is no longer applicable, although that might have been true many years ago. Basically what this means is that forking out money for a separate handheld console like the Nintendo 3DS or the PS Vita is no longer necessary, unless there are very specific games on the platform that you want to play. To that extent it seems that Sony has put the blame on smartphones and tablets as to the reason why PS Vita sales have not exactly been very good.

Speaking to VG247, Sony UK managing director was quoted as saying, “Games on tablets and phones have changed the marketplace and people can’t carry too many things around at one time The truth is that the number of people that want the core experience [that Vita offers] is not as big as the number that simply want any sort of game available on the move and, because the likes of a tablet and smartphone are so multifunctional in their use, they will always be very appealing.” We have to admit that is pretty true since no one wants to carry a smartphone, a tablet, and a handheld console all at the same time, not to mention the additional costs it might incur from buying games for consoles, versus smartphones/tablets where games are a lot cheaper. What do you guys think? Do smartphones and tablets do away with the need for a dedicated handheld gaming console?
