Diablo 3 PS3 Patch Fixes Up Some Crashes

Diablo 3 PS3 Patch Fixes Up Some CrashesThere is nothing quite like a patch to fix up issues in a game, and hopefully for gamers of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, a patch will be issued soon so that the game-breaking save bug would be fixed and gamers are able to move on with their lives without seeing all of their hard work go down the drain. I guess this is why it always pays to have at least a couple of save game slots in existence. Well, here we are with word that the Diablo 3 PS3 patch has been issued so that it will be able to fix whatever annoying crash issues that had plagued gamers for some time already, although those who are rocking to the Xbox 360 from Microsoft will have to sit it out for the moment and wait a little bit longer.

A post on Battle.net touts that the folks over at Blizzard does not quite yet have an ETA on when the Xbox 360 patch will be madeavailable to the masses. Apart from that, it remains unclear as to whether the Xbox 360 version is currently in the pipeline, or whether it has already been completed but simply needs certification from the folks over at Microsoft. Either way, both patches should carry the same content and fix similar issues, so whatever we see in the PS3 patch notes ought to be an indicator of what is to come.

PS4 Won’t Play Nice With PS3 USB Headsets At Launch

PS4 Won’t Play Nice With PS3 USB Headsets At LaunchRolling out a new piece of hardware does have its fair share of challenges from time to time. After all, there rarely has been a 100% smooth launch, and I guess you can say the same for the upcoming Sony PS4 next generation gaming console which will hit the US sometime later next month. For those who were wondering whether they could save some money by making use of your PlayStation Pulse headset with the Sony PS4 at launch, you might be in for a downer at the moment.

Sony claims that the PlayStation Pulse headset will not be compatible with the PS4 at launch, not at least until there is a system update sometime down the road. Of course, who are we to say that this will not happen between now and November, right? Perhaps some smart aleck over at Sony will have stumbled upon a method to make those two compatible with one another during this window period. Do bear in mind, however, that any headset that relies on a TOSlink cable in order to feed audio data, which means majority of the headsets that cost more than $100, ought to be able to function without missing a beat. I don’t think that this is going to stop folks from purchasing the PS4 in the first place anyways.

PlayStation 3 update brings automatic downloads to all PSN users, more Vita sharing options

Sony’s next-generation console may be nearing its launch date in some parts of the world, but the Japanese company isn’t forgetting about its aging PlayStation 3 just yet. With an update that’s due to roll out in the next few hours, the PS3 will no longer limit automatic firmware downloads to PlayStation Plus subscribers, a definite plus for non-paid PlayStation Network users. What’s more, version 4.50 also brings additional privacy settings to trophies and the ability to transfer data from the PS3 to PS Vita via a WiFi connection. It may not be the beefiest of updates, but sometimes keeping things short and sweet is just what the doctor ordered.

    Update: 4.50 is now available.

Upgrade Your PS3 Games To PS4 Versions For $10 A Pop

Upgrade Your PS3 Games To PS4 Versions For $10 A PopPlayStation’s Gamescom press conference did mention that if you wanted to upgrade your PS3 game to the PS4 digital version, it will be a snap to do so. Basically, the steps are pretty much simple, and all you need to do is make sure you have a PS4 come this November 15th in North America and you’re good to go. The four titles that are eligible for this particular upgrade path include Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch_Dogs, and Battlefield 4.

Whenever you decide to pick up the Blu-ray Disc or digital version of these select PS3 titles, you will be on the receiving end of an entitlement for a limited time only to download a PS4 digital copy of the same game via the PlayStation Store as it becomes available. The asking price? Just $9.99 and you can enjoy next generation graphics on current games. Of course, to play the PS4 version of the game as it is available eventually would require you to insert the original PS3 disc in your PS4 as a form of activation, so do not use the PS3 disc as a frisbee for your dog while you wait! Which other titles do you think should take a similar upgrade path?

    Sony’s PlayStation 4 upgrade program gets detailed: $10 for a next-gen copy

Sony's PlayStation 4 upgrade program gets detailed

Back at Gamescom 2013, Sony made it known that select cross-generational games, like Call of Duty: Ghosts, purchased for the PlayStation 3 would be upgradeable for its forthcoming PS4. At the time, Sony kept general pricing details for the program under wraps, although Activision did announce its qualifying CoD title would set PS4 users back $10 bucks for the next-gen upgrade privilege. Now, Sony’s coming clean with the full spate of its limited run upgrade program, adding Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs to the list — all for $10.

So how does it work? Well, for those gamers that insist on purchasing a physical copy of any of the above games, they’ll receive a redeemable pack-in code which they can enter into the PlayStation Network for a digital copy of the PS4 version. That’s not all though. In order to unlock that next-gen copy, the physical disc has to be in the console to activate it. The process is much simpler for those that opt for the all-digital route, as a PS3 purchase made on PSN will automatically qualify gamers for the discount, at which point the game will be available for download. You have to hand it Sony: with news of this expanded upgrade program and the PS4’s Gaikai-powered PS3 backwards compatibility, it seems the company’s well learned from the lessons of the previous gen’s past.
