Sony Let’s You Charge PlayStation Store Content to Your… Mobile Phone Bill?!

If you enjoy playing games or watching movies on your PS3 or other Sony device, you may be interested to hear that Sony has added a fourth option for adding funds to your PlayStation Store digital wallet. Previously the only options were credit card, prepaid gift card, or PayPal. Now you can charge digital content to your mobile phone bill.

mobile pay

That means using your mobile phone and SMS text messages you can purchase additional items such as games, DLC, movies, and TV shows. You can even charge monthly Music Unlimited subscriptions to your phone bill. Sony says that adding funds to your digital wallet from your phone bill will require the user to reply to an SMS text message and text messaging rates will apply.

All charges will be placed on your mobile phone bill in the next payment cycle. Apparently, some prepaid mobile phone services will also support this payment type. This sounds weird until you think about the fact that some people may not want to trust Sony with their credit card information and a lot of people don’t have PayPal accounts.

PS3, PS Vita Can Now Purchase Digital Goods Using Mobile Billing

PS3, PS Vita Can Now Purchase Digital Goods Using Mobile Billing

Sony rolled out an update to its PlayStation Store, or rather, its Sony Entertainment Network that allows patrons to purchase their digital goods through PayPal in addition to the standard method of using a credit card or prepaid card. We assume Sony didn’t think three payment options were good enough when it comes to all of the digital goods they have for sale every day, which is probably why the company has rolled out an additional payment method which would use your mobile phone account in order to make a payment. Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation Store add carrier billing for AT&T and T-Mobile

DNP PlayStation Video Unlimited updated to include mobile billing option

If you’re stateside and still leery about using your credit card with Sony following 2011’s hacking scandal, the company has a new way for you to pay: your cellphone bill. Following its UK debut, Boku carrier payment processing is on our shores now, allowing you to top-up your virtual wallet via, specifically, an AT&T or T-Mobile account. Oddly enough, these funds can only be used for purchases on the Sony Entertainment Network website and the PS3’s PlayStation Store — not the PS Vita’s. We emailed to clarify this, but Sony only told us that it has “no plans to announce at this time.”

EA’s Peter Moore clarifies stance on online games, says not every title will require your console to be online

While discussing the finer points of EA’s plans for this year (and those new consoles), EA’s Peter Moore explained to Engadget that the games maker doesn’t ship a game that is offline. It seems some people took this and ran (and ran) with it. So much in fact, that Moore has decided to officially respond, detailing that while its games catalog connects through online multiplayer, stat sharing, achievements or can even be delivered to consoles and devices by the internet, the company will continue to include single-player and offline modes that can be played without any need for a data connection — not every EA game will require your console to be online. We’ve embedded the aforementioned interview from Gamescom after the break. If only Mr. Moore still had the chance to respond with a YouTube video of his own

250GB Blue Sony PS3 Is A GameStop Exclusive This October 8th

250GB Blue Sony PS3 Is A GameStop Exclusive This October 8thAll right, so we do know that the Sony PS4 is on its way to being a gaming console blockbuster, with reports trickling in that the number of pre-orders for the Sony PS4 is a whole lot greater than the PS2 and PS3, but does this mean that the Sony PS3 has no more life left in its legs? Apparently not, as there is always the lucrative “developing markets” segment for any company worth their salt to look into, and here we are with word that a 250GB PS3 will be available as a GameStop exclusive. Now, what makes this particular 250GB PS3 so special compared to the rest?

It happens to be a Japan-only model in the past, arriving in “azurite blue”, where it will be accompanied by a 250GB hard drive, a matching DualShock 3 controller as well as an accompanying $249.99 price tag, which does make you wonder whether anyone would want to pick up the $200 12GB PS3 bundle from now on. Pre-orders for this game console that is a favorite of the Smurfs will open from tomorrow onwards, and these are set to arrive at the GameStop brick and mortar stores from October 8th onwards. Just which particular color of the PS3 is your favorite?

Sony reveals blue 250GB PS3 for $250, exclusive to GameStop

DNP Sony announces GameStopexclusive blue 250GB PS3 for $250, preorders open tomorrow

Sony is hoping that by now you either don’t already own a PlayStation 3, or direly need a game console to match your primary colored living room decor before November 15th. To that end, the tech giant is releasing the previously Japan-only “azurite blue” PS3 Superslim exclusively to GameStop. The console sports a 250GB hard drive, one matching DualShock 3 controller and a $249.99 price tag — kinda makes that $200 12GB model look a bit silly now, doesn’t it? Pre-orders open up tomorrow and you’ll be able to pick one up from your favorite GameStop or Canadian EB Games starting October 8th.

Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 upgrades will run $10, says Activision

'Call of Duty Ghosts' PS3 to PS4 upgrades will run $10, says Activision

During its Gamescon 2013 event, Sony said that upgrades for Playstation 4 games would come at a “significantly discounted price,” though it didn’t offer any details or actual numbers. Now, Activision has said that Call of Duty: Ghosts will cost $10 to upgrade from the PS3 to the PS4, mirroring a similar deal from retailer GameStop for the Xbox One. Based on Sony’s statement, such discounts might be coming for other lynchpin titles for the new console for a limited time period, as well. Meanwhile, if you can’t wait the ten days between the game’s November 5th PS3 launch and the Playstation 4’s November 15th US release, hit the PR after the break.
