If you’re a lover of the Grand Theft Auto series and absolutely need to own every little bit and piece from the creators of the series at Rockstar Games, you’re about to need to start saving up. Two unique editions of Grand Theft Auto V have been shown this week by he creators of the series – one of them a Special Edition, the other a Collectors Edition.
This means there will be a least three different editions of the game. While each version allows you the same access to the full retail version of Grand Theft Auto V, the “Standard Edition” brings just that. Each of the three editions offer a pre-order bonus of an “Atomic Blimp” in-game vehicle for “iconic and leisurely” travel through Los Santos.
The Special Edition brings with it a SteelBook with artwork including custom and metallic treatments – strange printing techniques only used in presentations above and beyond the normal call of duty for an art book. A BluePrint map that shows a unique view of Los Santos and Blaine County is included in the package at 21.5 x 26.75 inches large.
The Special Edition will also add special weapons added to the players inventory available for free – melee Hammer, Bullpup Shotgun, and Pistol .50. In-game bonuses also include a “Special Ability Boost” which makes your special ability bar jump 25% faster, Stunt Plane Trials, Bonus outfits, tattoos, and aesthetic differentiators of all kinds.
The Collector’s Edition includes everything that’s in the Special Edition, adding a Security Deposit Bag with Logo Key, 9FIFTY Snapback Cap, and a set of “classic” Grand Theft Auto characters for customization and use in the Grand Theft Auto Character Creation System.
The Collector’s Edition also adds a garage where users are able to store custom vehicles. Single-player mode has this garage stocked with a 1930′s style Hotknife hotrod as well as a CarbonRS sports bike. The online version will include a “high-end Khamelion electric car.”
And of course the whole lot comes in a fancy collectable outer box with foil-embossed Grand Theft Auto V logo with matte, scuff-resistant film lamination. This Collector’s Edition will run you a cool $149.99 USD while the Special Edition will cost $79.99, and the normal edition will cost you right around $59.99 – choose your fate!
Fresh track footage of Gran Turismo 6 has emerged, showing some of the more than 1,200 cars gamers will get to choose between, and hinting at the sort of graphics PlayStation 3 users could look forward to. The new video, which also includes some of the new tracks, shows more than three minutes of concept footage ahead of the hotly-anticipated racing title.
GT6 was given the official nod earlier this month, the most ambitious of the Gran Turismo series so far. The game will include 33 different locations, seven of which are new; there will be 71 different layouts to choose between, of which 19 are new.
On top of that, racers will be able to modify and customize their favorite cars using in-game accessories and upgrades. Sony hasn’t given specifics, but there are said to be “thousands” of possible add-ons to choose between.
The new cars will include Alfa Romeo’s TZ3 Stradale ’11, the classic 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, the pared-back KTM X-BOW R ’12, and Mercedes’ SLS AMG GT3 from 2011. Geek-favorite Tesla will also feature, with the new Model S Signature Performance (though not the Performance Plus version) also making its debut.
As for how those cars will drive – virtually speaking – Sony is particularly excited about its new suspension and kinematics model. There’s also a new tire model – in partnership with Yokohama Rubber and KW Automotive – to make the handling more realistic, and a fresh aerodynamics model.
Gran Turismo 6 will launch on the PlayStation 3 initially, in time for the 2013 holiday season, but Sony has already dropped some significant hints about a PlayStation 4 version.
Just yesterday Sony unveiled Gran Turismo 6 which was announced for the PlayStation 3. While we guess Sony will still cater to PS3 gamers, we thought it was a bit odd that the PS4 was not mentioned, especially since the […]
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has announced that the series’ next racing title will arrive later this year, with a demo scheduled to appear this July, ahead of a holiday launch. Expect a heady 1,200 cars to make the new edition, with 33 locations (and 71 layouts) to drive them around. Polyphony Digital has developed a new game engine for Gran Turismo 6, one that “pushes the limits of the PS3,” but the incoming game might make another appearance on the incoming PlayStation 4. At a 15th anniversary event at the Silverstone racetrack in the UK, Yamauchi teased to IGN that they had a PS4 version “in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on [the] PS3.” Gran Turismo remains Sony’s most successful franchise ever and has sold over 70 million copies to date. Sony adds that we’ll hear even more about the sequel at E3 — likely alongside a next-generation console we can see.
Gran Turismo 6 will hit the PS3 this holiday season, Sony has confirmed, with the hotly-anticipated game offering 1,200 different cars and 33 different locations. The game will introduce seven new locations, in fact, with 71 different layouts, 19 of which are new. Further cars and tracks will also be released online, studio Polyphony confirmed, while there’ll be big integration with real cars out on the track.
The news about the new game was spilled a little earlier than expected, ahead of a Kazunori Yamauch announcement later today at the UK’s Silverstone circuit. That will be one of the seven new locations included in GT6, iafrica reports.
There’ll also be a variety of aerodynamic parts, custom wheels, and other add-ons which drivers will be able to buy in-game and install on their cars. They’ll be offered for “almost all” of the vehicles to choose from, with several thousand components to choose between.
Gran Turismo 6 trailer:
Gran Turismo 6 will also further blur the lines between the gaming racing experience and cars in the real world. Toyota, for instance, will be the first to offer CAN-ECY system integration, with drivers of the GT86 able to download their telemetry from track days, and compare it in the game.
Exactly when GT6 will hit the shelves is unclear, though there’ll be smartphone and tablet integration for social and community features. It’ll also be based on a new, smaller game engine, which promises boosted performance as well as opening up support for extensible content.
Gran Turismo 6 has been expected to be announced some time this week and earlier today, we caught a glimpse of the game’s page on the official Gran Turismo website. Now, it looks as though a leaked press release has reportedly confirmed […]
If you own all of the major video game consoles, you probably tend to use your PlayStation 3 when it comes to Netflix. Which is why we’re not entirely surprised to hear Netflix is announcing an update to its player on […]
