Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Z To Arrive On PS3 This January 28th

dbz-ps3Well, well, what do we have here? It seems that a totally new Dragon Ball Z game in more than two years will finally make its way to the Sony PS3, where this particular title would be known as Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z. It is comforting to know that there is still some miles left in the PS3’s proverbial legs despite the apparent early success of the Sony PS4. With Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, you will be able to find a slew of attractive features that accompany the game, including team battle and co-op missions. Apart from that, players are also able to come up with their own team of up to four players.

HBO GO For PS3 Set To Arrive Soon With PS4 Support Right Behind

HBO GO For PS3 Set To Arrive Soon With PS4 Support Right BehindIt was earlier this evening over at the inaugural Buzzfeed Brews event in New York City, where HBO CEO Richard Plepler took to the stage and made an announcement that HBO and PlayStation have come together to work as a team, ensuring that the masses will be able to enjoy the hugely popular HBO GO app. The HBO GO app would be made available first on the Sony PS3, before it is set to arrive on the next generation Sony PS4 console itself. Having said that, I would have to ask – when would companies and publications stop referring to the PS4 as a next generation console before they accept the fact that this is a current generation device, and is set to stay?

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD Launches On The Sony PS3

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD Launches On The Sony PS3The Sony PS3 might be relegated to a second tier console after the release of the far superior Sony PS4, but this does not mean that the console itself is not worthy of any more releases. No sir, as there is still some life left in the legs of the Sony PS3, as evident by the release of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD for this platform. Aveline de Grandpré did make her debut as the first playable female Assassin on the PS Vita slightly more than a year back, and she has also managed to gain quite a cult following, being one of the most popular and praised Assassins in the series.

WWE Network Headed to Game Consoles, PCs and Mobile

I haven’t watched a wrestling match since the days of André the Giant and the Hulkster back in the 80′s. I know tons of people still like the WWE and spend lots of money to see the wrestling matches in person and on pay-per-view. I’ve also seen those events on the PPV schedule and they are anything but cheap. At CES 2014, the WWE announced the pending launch of a new streaming network.

    wwe network 2 620x340magnify

The network is called the WWE Network and it will be available on tablets, smartphones, PCs, Macs and game consoles starting on February 24. I think most people will watch the WWE Network on their PS3, PS4, or Xbox 360 on the big screen in the living room. WWE says that an app for the Xbox One will come later.

The service is slated to cost $9.99(USD) per month with a six month contract. For the money, you will get access to 1500 hours of archived content for on-demand streaming at launch. You will also get access to all 12 live PPV events, including WrestleMania. If you were going to watch those events anyway, you might save some money with a subscription to the WWE Network.

If you’re interested in finding out more about what the WWE Network includes, check out their FAQ here, or view a service demo here.

PlayStation Now Hands On: Hey This Thing Actually Works

So PlayStation Now works. Like really. Like what the heck are you sure there isn’t a PlayStation tucked away behind this TV and hidden somehow behind this Vita works. It’s incredible because it doesn’t feel incredible, if that makes any sense. You can play streaming games without any game console, and that’s pretty damn impressive.

PS4 Gets VidZone Free Music Video Streaming App

PS4 Gets VidZone Free Music Video Streaming App

VidZone has been around on the PlayStation platform for quite some time now. It made its debut with the PS3 back in 2009 and quickly gained over a million downloads. Soon after that, the app was expanded into other markets as well. Its certainly popular with those who want to stream music videos for free. The VidZone app for PlayStation 4 has now been released, allowing gamers on Sony’s latest console to stream music videos whenever they want.

Those who have already used this app on the PlayStation 3 will notice a number of chances. The new app has been completely optimized for PS4, it offers quick navigation and faster start up times. This definitely improves user experience as users don’t have to wait to access their music videos and playlists. VidZone also taps into PS4′s social integration features, allowing users to share their VidZone activity with friends through the “What’s New” feed. Screenshots of music videos can also be shared to Facebook and Twitter through the Share button on PS4′s DualShock 4 controller. The app offers “thousands” of music videos which can be streamed in HD, “hundreds” of VidZone TV channels filled with music videos and the ability to create unlimited playlists. The app is available right now through the TV & Video section of the PS4′s home screen.

Sony To End Online Support For Some Of Their First-Party PS3 Titles

Sony To End Online Support For Some Of Their First Party PS3 TitlesWith the PlayStation 4 having been released, we can only assume that Sony’s efforts will now be focused more on their brand new console, rather than their older console, the PlayStation 3. With that being said, it seems that online support for a handful of Sony’s first-party PS3 games are expected to be coming to an end in the first half of 2014. For those who are still regularly playing their PS3 games, Sony’s website will be able to provide you with additional details regarding the upcoming end of support, so hit up the website for more info.

Some of the games involved in this shutdown process includes Sony’s Resistance series, such as Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3, all of which will no longer be playable online as of March 28 2014. Gran Turismo 5 will also be having its online features disabled in May 2014, which we guess isn’t too surprising given that Gran Turismo 6 was announced not too long ago. For the most part, these games will still be playable offline and in single player mode, which we guess isn’t too big of a deal, except for those who are still enjoying titles such as MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation, both of which do not offer offline support.

While the disabling of online support is inevitable, we’re sure there are many gamers out there who might still be a bit disappointed and sad by this news.

Minecraft PS3 Edition Release Date Announced To Be December 17

Minecraft recently sold a total of 10 million copies on the Xbox 360 version alone, but the game’s overall sales will certainly get a boost come December 17 as that is when the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be released. Minecraft’s console developer, 4J Studios, announced just last month the PS3 version of the game would be made available prior to the next-gen version.
