Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls To Run At 1080p, 60fps On The PS4

Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls To Run At 1080p, 60fps On The PS4It seems that games made for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 4 will have native Full HD 1080p support, and that seems to be the case for Blizzard’s Diablo 3 which will be making its way onto the PlayStation 4 console come 2014. This was confirmed by Blizzard themselves at BlizzCon 2013, where the game’s director, Josh Mosqueira revealed that the game’s expansion, Reaper of Souls, would run at 1080p Full HD resolution at 60fps. Mosqueira also confirmed that those who are currently playing the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be able to transfer their characters and progress from the PS3 console onto the PS4 console, if they were to switch consoles later on.

However he was unable to confirm or specify if gamers would receive a discount if they were to get Diablo 3 for the PS4 if they had already bought the game for the PS3, and stated that they were still figuring it out as to how they might be able to distribute the Reaper of Souls expansion for the PlayStation 4 console. What do you guys think? Should Diablo 3 for the PS4 be made a free download if a PS3 version had already been bought?

Sony Announces 80M PS3 Consoles Have Been Sold Globally

The PlayStation 4 is just a little over a week from being released, which means those who pick up Sony’s next-generation console will most likely be putting their PlayStation 3 out to pasture to either be put in a not-so popular part of their home, or even traded in towards the purchase of a new console. Today, Sony shines its light on the PlayStation 3 and just how well it’s done through its life as a total of 80 million units have been sold around the world. (more…)

Sony Has Sold 80M PS3 Consoles Globally: A Tall Hill to Climb for PS4

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 3 game console has hit a significant milestone for sales around the world. The company says that the device has reached 80 million units sold around the world since it launched in November of 2006. The 80 million unit number was reached on November 2, 2013.

Sony announced in April of 2011 that the console had hit 50 million units sold since launch. One of the keys to success for the PlayStation 3 is continued software updates adding support for things such as 3D gaming, Netflix, improved Blu-ray playback and more. The console itself has also undergone some changes going from a bulky console supporting PS2 games when originally launched to two different thinner units without backwards compatibility.

Sony has also noted that the total number of software titles released for the PS3 since it launched: 4,332 to be exact – of course that includes downloadable titles, not just disc-based releases. Still, that’s an impressive number. Sony says there’ll also be more than 300 new software titles released during the holiday season supporting the PS3 console.

It’s hard to believe that the PS3 has been on the market for seven years, and it will be on the market for years to come, despite the impending launch of the PS4.

PS3 PlayStation Store Gets PayPal Support

PS3 PlayStation Store Gets PayPal Support

Sony has announced that starting today, users can add funds to their Sony Entertainment Network wallet through PS3 PlayStation Store which now supports PayPal. PayPal integration was initially introduced in January earlier this year, but back then the Sony Entertainment Network wallet could only be funded through PayPal via the web. Only recently Sony added the option to add funds to the wallet through mobile devices, using the Mobile Billing option. PayPal support in PS3 PlayStation Store will now make it much more easier, and faster, to fund the wallet through the console itself.

Gamers who are concerned about the security of their payment details will be satisfied with the inclusion of PayPal. Who can forget the PlayStation Network breach back in 2011 which saw personal information of millions of users being leaked, PayPal support adds an additional level of security in this regard. To add funds to the Sony Entertainment Network wallet through PS3, all users have to do is click “Add Funds” when checking out from the cart on PlayStation Store. Clicking on “PayPal” will allow them to transfer any amount from $5 to $150, which is the maximum balance the wallet can hold. The wallet can be used to purchase a number of things from the PlayStation Store, such as movies, TV episodes, PS3 games and more.
