Bioware Considering Mass Effect Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One

With a new generation of consoles we can look forward to games from the last generation getting some remastered versions. And one of the better franchises that showed up last gen are the Mass Effect games. BioWare has confirmed that it is thinking about releasing the Mass Effect trilogy on PS4 and Xbox One.

This news comes from Aaryn Flynn, general manager for BioWare Edmonton and Montreal. A fan on Twitter asked if the trilogy was being considered for the new consoles and Flynn confirmed that it had been discussed internally.

So at least they are thinking about it. And they know that fans would eat it up too. All of the DLCs would probably be bundled in too. If they do release it, you can expect the visuals to get a boost to take advantage of the improved hardware. Since Mass Effect 4 is in the works, this would be a great move to get more fans into the franchise.

Remastered Mass Effect Trilogy Being Considered For PS4/Xbox One

Remastered Mass Effect Trilogy Being Considered For PS4/Xbox OneOne of the benefits of getting a next-gen consoles like the Sony PlayStation 4 or the Microsoft Xbox One is the fact that you will be able to look forward to better graphics.

Of course gameplay matters just as much as graphics, if not more, but then again having amazing graphics will attract gamers to the game even if they’ve never heard of it before.

That being said, gamers might be interested to learn that there is a chance that the Mass Effect Trilogy could be remastered for consoles like the Xbox One and the PS4. This is according to a recent tweet by BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn who responded to a question by a fan, asking if the studio would considered a remastering of the game. (more…)

Real Wood PS4 Skins > Fake Wood PS4 Skins

We’ve featured some vinyl decals that will make your PS4 console look like it’s made from wood, but now you can actually wrap your shiny new console in real wood.

A company in Germany called Balolo has released a stick-on cover for the PS4 that’s actually cut from genuine hardwood. You can mix and match from bamboo, cherry, walnut or zebrawood to make your console look just that much more awesome.

Each piece is made from laser-cut wood veneers, with a durable adhesive on back. What isn’t clear is how well the adhesive and wood holds up to the heat the console puts out over time, or if it affects the thermal properties of the PS4 at all. Still, it sure looks cool and I’m thinking about redoing mine after seeing these.

The kit sells for €149.90 (~$205 USD), or you can purchase a console with the wood facade already applied for €599.90 (~$829 USD). Here in the States it’s a much better deal to just buy a $400 PS4 and then install the wood grain yourself. Now about that controller…

Wolfenstein: The New Order Will Feature Native 1080p/60FPS On Xbox One And PS4

Wolfenstein: The New Order Will Feature Native 1080p/60FPS On Xbox One And PS4It was in May last year when Bethesda made an announcement concerning Wolfenstein: The New Order, where it will arrive on the PC, PS3 as well as next-gen platforms (back then). The thing is, the game itself has been delayed to this year from the last, which is not a bad thing entirely if it means being able to roll out a polished game at the end of it without any bugs accompanying its release. Well, it does seem as though Wolfenstein: The New Order on the Sony PS4 as well as Xbox One will be able to feature native 1080p/60fps on both consoles, achieving parity regardless of the platform that you have affiliated yourself with.

    PS4 Gets ColorWare Customization Options

PS4 Gets ColorWare Customization OptionsThe PlayStation 4 at the moment is only available in one color, which is black. That’s not a bad thing as most electronics tend to feature a black finish, meaning that it should fit in with the rest of your home theater setup. However what if you wanted to jazz things up a little? Well you’re in luck because ColorWare has recently announced that they have launched their own version of the PS4 which will come in a variety of different colors and finishes, right down to the controller itself. Xbox One Price Chopped in UK

I think we all knew that eventually the Xbox One would see its price cut to closer match the cost of the PS4. That was especially clear when developers started saying that the PS4 was the better console on top of the fact that it was $100 cheaper here in the U.S. Microsoft has now cut the price of the Xbox One in the UK, where it started out costing £80 (~$133 USD) more than the PS4.

Effective this week, Microsoft has cut the price of the console to £399.99 from £429.99 (or about $50 USD). Gamers can even wait a bit and get a bundle with the anticipated game Titanfall for the same price once the game is released in March. Even at the new price, The Xbox One is still quite a bit more expensive than the Xbox One sells for in the U.S., with the U.S. dollar equivalent being about $668 at the time of this posting. In contrast, the PS4 sells for £349.99 in the UK, or about $584 (USD).

Microsoft wants us to believe that the price cut doesn’t mean the system wasn’t selling well. I don’t know who they are trying to fool, all the numbers have the PS4 outselling the Xbox One. No business slashes prices on products when the products are selling well at the higher price. The price cut came only 94 days into the Xbox One’s life.
