PS4 Update 1.70 To Feature SHAREfactory

Sony will be rolling out the PS4 update 1.70 really soon, and this is set to be a major system software update for your next generation console (that has recently passed the 7 million mark in terms of sales, by the way) which will see the introduction of some exciting new features which many gamers have been looking forward to. SHAREfactory would be one of those features, where it functions as a new rich video editor app for PS4 which makes it a snap to customize your gameplay videos.

Using SHAREfactory, one is able to easily merge captured video clips for editing purposes, personalizing them with additional special effects thanks to the use of filters, transitions, and themes, in addition to sharing your digital exploits with the rest of the world over a social network. Not only that, SHAREfactory would also enable you to personalize your videos through the inclusion of text, stickers, and a set of accompanying audio tracks, apart from video commentary with picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera. One also has the option to import original music to add to the custom soundtrack for your video.

It is always nice to see new updates being made available for the PS4 from time to time, as it helps keep the console relevant in the here and now. [Press Release]

Sony Has Difficulty Meeting Demand For The PS4

Sony Has Difficulty Meeting Demand For The PS4Earlier today, we did talk about how well the Sony PS4 is doing at the moment worldwide, where the consumer electronics giant has reported that the total sales figure for the Sony PS4 has passed the 7 million mark – and still counting, of course. After all, who are we to argue with a console that actually sold a million units in a matter of 24 hours? Having said that, this is a silver lining in the dark cloud that Sony is in, as the company continues to see its bottom line hit by the decline in TV and camera demands. While sales of the Sony PS4 has been robust to cross the 7 million mark, it does seem as though the company is having trouble meeting the continued strong demand for the next generation video game console.

According to Andrew House, president and group chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, “Although we are still facing difficulties keeping up with the strong demand worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the needs of our customers.”

We do hope that Sony will be able to meet the strong demand worldwide with its existing production lines, otherwise they might end up losing potential sales to their immediate rival, the Xbox Onedone quite well for itself by the way, helped along by triple A titles such as Titanfall), because some gamers are less patient than others.

Sony’s PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million Mark

Sonys PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million MarkIt is no secret that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is doing very well, but how well are we talking about? Well according to Sony who have recently announced their latest figures, it seems that they have managed to sell over 7 million consoles to date.

It appears that things have been progressing pretty well for Sony. Back in November 2013, Sony announced that they managed to sell 1 million units in 24 hours. It was also later announced in February that Sony had sold 5.3 million units, and here we are a couple of months later where Sony announces that they have passed the 7 million units sold mark.

Now we know that there is a difference between units sold to consumers and units sold to retailers, so it should be noted that Sony mentions that the 7 million mark is sold to consumers, as opposed to retailers whose numbers are probably a little higher than that. So how does Sony fare against the competition from Microsoft’s Xbox One?

Unfortunately Microsoft has not updated its figures since January 2015 but according to reports, Microsoft has enjoyed a boost in Xbox One sales, thanks to the launch of Titanfall which at the moment is an exclusive to the Xbox platforms and the PC. In any case good on Sony for hitting those numbers and we can’t wait to see what those numbers might be when the PlayStation 4 hits its 1-year anniversary.

PS4 The Last of Us Release Date: June 20

It’s no surprise that so much anticipation has built up around the launch of The Last of Us on the PS4. The game was one of the best to hit the PS3 in its long history and was one of the best games of the year last year. PS4 gamers have had tidbits of detail about the game coming to the new Sony console.

We heard before that the game was coming this summer. That is a rather vague launch window though. Several major game retailers have now tipped a new launch date for the game. Target, Best Buy, and GameFly all list the launch date for the game as June 20.

Uncoincidentally, that is just about a week after E3 wraps up this summer. The launch date hasn’t been officially confirmed, but with so many retailers showing the same date, it’s almost a sure thing.
