Fly Or Die: Sony PlayStation 4

The console wars are in full swing, and no contender is more focused on the pure gaming experience as the PS4.
Sony’s next-gen PlayStation is not like the Xbox One, which is leaning more toward the media console space than ever before. Instead, the PS4 is built squarely for the gaming enthusiast.
The PS4 is essentially an x86-based personal computer, making it easy for developers to build new titles and port over PC games, and it comes with a DualShock 4 controller. It’s a beauty, with a Vita-style touchpad and Kinect-like capabilities thanks to a 3D “stereo” camera accessory.
However, is it worth rushing out and getting one right this second?
The PS4 is a beautiful machine that not only enhances graphics but elevates the entire experience. However, game variety is a bit of an issue early on. Plus, the console probably has a pretty long lifespan (at least five years), with price drops along the way.

Depending on where you are living, and depending on which time you are looking at, the PS4 and the Xbox One appear to be outdoing one another, but given that we’re now in 2014, which console is doing better? Well according to a recent report by MCV, it would appear that as far as the UK is concerned, the PS4 is leading the Xbox One in terms of sales. In its first five weeks of sales, the PS4 managed to sell a whopping 530,000 units, versus the Xbox One which managed 364,000 units, giving the PS4 a lead of 166,000 units. In terms of revenue generated by sales, the PS4 managed to nab Sony £181.8 million, while the Xbox One managed earn Microsoft about £144.5 million.
Granted these are pretty big figures and definitely no joke, but for now it does appear that the PS4 is winning. In terms of hardware, both consoles have their differences, although it does not appear that neither console outperforms the other by a considerable margin. Game selection is also fairly even since developers typically release their games on the PS4 and Xbox One, unless of course we are talking about platform exclusives. It is possible that the Xbox One’s higher price (due to the inclusion of the Kinect) could be putting gamers off, but it is still a bit too soon to tell. Perhaps when sales and stocks have been normalized we will be able to get a better picture. After all the Xbox 360 was the best selling console in the US for an extended period of time for a reason, right?

VidZone has been around on the PlayStation platform for quite some time now. It made its debut with the PS3 back in 2009 and quickly gained over a million downloads. Soon after that, the app was expanded into other markets as well. Its certainly popular with those who want to stream music videos for free. The VidZone app for PlayStation 4 has now been released, allowing gamers on Sony’s latest console to stream music videos whenever they want.
Those who have already used this app on the PlayStation 3 will notice a number of chances. The new app has been completely optimized for PS4, it offers quick navigation and faster start up times. This definitely improves user experience as users don’t have to wait to access their music videos and playlists. VidZone also taps into PS4′s social integration features, allowing users to share their VidZone activity with friends through the “What’s New” feed. Screenshots of music videos can also be shared to Facebook and Twitter through the Share button on PS4′s DualShock 4 controller. The app offers “thousands” of music videos which can be streamed in HD, “hundreds” of VidZone TV channels filled with music videos and the ability to create unlimited playlists. The app is available right now through the TV & Video section of the PS4′s home screen.
