This past weekend, tornadoes made a complete mess of several states in the U.S., which not only resulted in the destruction of many homes, but lives were also lost. The entire ordeal is one that has struck a nerve in the U.S. as there aren’t many positive stories coming out of this weekend’s destruction, but in the middle of all of the chaos, one story caught our attention as it is actually pretty remarkable what happened. If you were lucky enough to get your hands on a PlayStation 4 when it released last week, you’ll know just how much more comfortable the DualShock 4 is compared to previous versions of the DualShock controller. This has probably left you wondering how long it’ll take until you can use your DualShock 4 with other devices. We learned last month the DualShock 4 works with the PlayStation 3 as long as it’s connected via USB, but what about PCs? Sony announced its 1.51 firmware update for the PlayStation 4 was coming soon, which lead us to believe that we could be seeing the update coming to our next-generation consoles as early as the end of the week. Last month we found out that the PlayStation 4′s DualShock 4 controller more or less works with a PlayStation 3. PCSX2 forum member InhexSTER made a tool allowing you to use the controller with Windows games.
In simple terms, what the tool does is it maps the DualShock 4′s controls to a virtual Xbox 360 controller, which many PC games support. Check out InhexSTER’s video below for a demo:
You can download InhexSTER’s tool here. InhexSTER says that the DualShock 4 does work with some PC games out of the box, so you might want to try doing it the vanilla way first. Also, PC Gamer notes that you’ll only be able to use the DualShock 4 wirelessly if your PC is on Windows 8 or 8.1. If you’re on Windows 7 you’ll have to keep the controller plugged in to your PC via a microUSB-to-USB cable.

Sony PS4 owners, it is definitely time for you to take a break from all of that gaming. After all, it is always good to pause and rest for a bit. Take a walk around the room, or better yet, why not go on a brisk stroll on the outside while the weather is beautiful and fine? The game and its challenges will still be there after you are done. The Sony PS4, for all its fast moving sales figures, did not experience a perfectly smooth launch with reports of some units experiencing the Blue Light of Death. Well, we are pleased to bring you word that the first system software update for the PS4 since it was officially launched will be available later this evening, where it comes in at version 1.51.
This is a minor compulsory update, where it is touted to make the entire system a whole lot more stable. Not only that, additional improvements such as minor refinements to elements of the system UI have also been introduced. This means you now have a clear indicator of when you are downloading a game and a game patch simultaneously. For those living in North America, the console features automatic downloads for system and game updates by default whenever the PS4 remains in stand-by mode.
