Xbox One and PS4 controller pre-orders now live

You might have already pre-ordered your fancy new Xbox One or PlayStation 4 console, but seeing as how the contents only contain a certain number of controllers, you might want a few more for when you have a lot of friends over for game night. Luckily, neither Microsoft nor Sony want you to be short on controllers come launch day, so they’ve opened up pre-orders for purchasing individual controllers.

With that, we now know the price of both the Xbox One controller and the PS4 DualShock 4 controller. Both are priced at $60, which is the same price that you pay for a single game. Furthermore, Microsoft has also revealed pricing for other accessories as well, including the Xbox One headset.

The headset will cost $25, while the Play and Charge kit for the Xbox One controller will cost $25 as well. You can also grab both a controller and a Play and Charge kit in a bundle for $75, which will save you $10 compared to if you bought the two items separately.

All of these items are available for pre-order on Amazon, or you can visit GameStop, Best Buy, or a Microsoft Store (for Xbox One items) to reserve your own units for launch day. If you’re not aware, the PS4 console does come with a headset, so if you’re thinking about going with the Xbox One, be aware that you’ll have to get the headset separately.

The Microsoft Store also is listing a “Day One” 12-month Xbox Live membership for $60, which is the same price it is currently on the Xbox 360. We’ve heard in the past that Microsoft was changing the system up slightly, but price wasn’t yet disclosed. It seems that it’ll cost the same amount as previously for the time being. There’s also no sign of a family sharing package yet, but we’ll probably hear about that soon.

Sony PlayStation 4 Pre-Orders Back Again At GameStop

Sony PlayStation 4 Pre Orders Back Again At GameStopEarlier this month you might recall that GameStop had stopped their pre-orders of the Sony PlayStation 4 console, presumably because they ran out of their allocated stock and did not want to process orders they knew they might not be able to fulfill in a timely manner. Well the good news is that if you still wanted to get your hands on a launch day PS4 console, it looks like GameStop has managed to secure more units as they have reopened their pre-orders for the console, although given how popular the console is, you might want to hurry as stock could diminish pretty fast.

As it stands GameStop is currently only selling PS4 bundles, as opposed to just the console alone, meaning that unless you don’t mind waiting for a few days or weeks, you will have to spend a bit more than you had initially planned. The retailer is offering bundles which includes games such as Killzone: Shadow Fall, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, or Madden NFL 25 for $459.98, while other bundles that include Knack and Drive Club and additional DualShock 4 controllers will be priced at $519.97.

Sony PlayStation 4 waltzes past the FCC

Sony PlayStation 4 waltzes past the FCC

Sony’s PS4 dev kit passed by the FCC roughly a week ago, and now its consumer-oriented counterpart has passed through Uncle Sam’s offices. Not only do the federal documents show the consoles’ polished exterior, but they once again note a “max clock frequency” of 2.75GHz, teasing just what kind of horsepower sits inside the black parallelogram. Though there isn’t much more to note in the agency’s files, a duo of system labels marked with “Made in China” and “Made in Japan” hint that Hirai and Co. will be manufacturing the hardware in both those territories. Mark Cerny’s wunderconsole won’t be hitting store shelves until later this year, but it already has the appropriate paperwork to make the trip stateside.

PlayStation 4 developer console appears: confirms original vision

It’s not the most in-depth bit of photography you’ll see today, but for those of you looking to see the PlayStation 4 as it sits in the hands of developers across the planet this summer, this may well be the best you’re going to get. What we’re looking at below (below the first image, that is) is a “leaked” image of the PlayStation 4′s front – or back – not that it matters – as photographed by an intrepid attendee of either Jimmy Fallon‘s showing of said device or E3 2013.

Now we just need to bust open a cabinet at SDCC and we’ll see if they all match! These developer units use the most basic of basics for their outer casing, showing LED lights for on-states and big ol’ bumpers here and there so no drops can harm it. Not that you’ll be wanting to explain to Sony how you dropped your early edition of the PlayStation 4, mind you, but it does seem more hardcore than your average built-it-yourself PC.

Below you’re seeing the image “leaked” today via Gizmodo with a couple different units complete with high-tech tape telling their contents. Above you’re seeing the developer unit shown back in February which was originally only given attention due to its inclusion of the new dual-shock controller. Always remember to look at the whole image!

And for those of you that want to see the final PlayStation 4 hardware – at least as far as Sony’s shared thus far – there’s this sharp piece of work right here. We’ve had our own close-up look at the PlayStation 4 more than once, complete with toggle-less lights and edges so sharp they’ll cut your face open. Make sure you stay tuned as we see how this device fares a the biggest comic convention of the year!

Here's What a Developer's PS4 Looks Like

The cat may already be out of the bag, but for many months we didn’t know what the PS4 looked like. Now, we know what the retail version will look, but what about the developer box Sony hid during the big reveal and on Jimmy Fallon? Well, here’s an exclusive image we’ve acquired of some developer boxes that were used at E3.
