Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Being Pulled From PSN, XBLA

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Being Pulled From PSN, XBLA

Capcom has been very well known for their fighting games over recent years as they continue to work on its popular fighting franchises, such as Street Fighter 4. One of its other popular fighting game series, Marvel vs. Capcom, had a new title released just a few years back, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with digital versions released on their respective marketplaces. But Capcom will soon be leaving the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace for good, according to a recent post on the company’s blog. (more…)

    PSN Suspends Redemption Of Vouchers

PSN Suspends Redemption Of VouchersIf you are a gamer who intends to redeem your vouchers on the PlayStation Network (PSN), but somehow or rather still continue to run into issues that prevent you from doing so, that is because your account has experienced a suspension. The thing is, you do not need to freak out at all, since the redemption of vouchers has been suspended. This particular bit of news was announced over on the PlayStation Blog by Sid Shuman, who also happens to be a social media manager at Sony.

Shuman shared, “Unfortunately this means that money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content are not redeemable at this time. Other PSN features such as log in, online multiplayer gaming, PlayStation Plus trials, PlayStation Store (excluding voucher redemption), Trophies, messages, friends, etc are all available.”

It remains to be seen just why is Sony grappling with issues concerning their released vouchers, and this is definitely a case of solving it sooner rather than later being better for everyone. We do know, however, that when the PS4 was launched in Europe as well as in Australia and New Zealand, we brought you word that a couple of PSN features had been disabled but for a moment in order not to overload it. Sony suspends PlayStation promo code support following network trouble (update)

No PSN code redemption for you, come back one year

Sony’s PSN woes aren’t over just yet. The company has temporarily stopped taking PlayStation promo codes following a surge in traffic on the gaming service; for the moment, money cards and game vouchers won’t work. There’s no estimate for when code redemption will return. It’s easy to see the potential causes, however. Between the weekend, the PlayStation 4’s European launch and a big discount on PlayStation Plus subscriptions at Amazon, there’s guaranteed to be a deluge of PSN activity — Sony may have unintentionally created a perfect storm.

Update (12/1/13): According to the PlayStation Europe Blog, Sony is “continually increasing the availability of the voucher redemption functionality,” so you should see it soon if it’s not on your system already. The next step, which we should hear more about tomorrow, is to switch on the What’s New activity feed and Live Item in the Content Information Screen for users outside North America.

Sony: Euro PlayStation 4 to miss PSN features at launch

Sony will disable several PlayStation Network features for the European launch of the PS4 on Friday, the company has confirmed, temporarily blocking access to the functionality in the hope of avoiding a crash as gamers rush to use their new consoles. “What’s New”, which is the PSN’s discovery stream showing recent activity on the console […]

PlayStation 4 in Australia and Europe won’t get full PSN features at launch

    PlayStation 4 What's New section

Sony has been rather successful in selling the PlayStation 4, to the point where the PlayStation Network has strained under the load. To avoid making things worse, the company will be delaying some PSN features in Australia, Europe and New Zealand. For the first few days after the PS4 launch in these areas, friend activity will be disabled in both the What’s New and content info sections. Activity will come back once the initial frenzy is over, Sony says. The decision won’t make a big impact on gameplay when multiplayer and other core features will be available on day one, but it may catch a few players off-guard.

Sony To Switch Off Certain PSN Features Ahead Of PS4 Launch In Europe

Gamers in Europe will finally get their hands on the new Sony gaming console tomorrow, November 29th. Sony initially launched the PlayStation 4 in North America on November 15th and sold over one million units on launch day. The company expects similar record sales on the launch day in Europe as well, with Amazon UK already revealing that the PS4 is going to outsell the Xbox One based on its current pre-order levels. To make sure that things go smoothly for all of new PS4 owners who will log on to PlayStation Network on launch day, Sony has announced that it is going to switch off a few PSN features in Europe.

Features that are going to be temporarily be disabled include “What’s New,” which lets gamers discover and engage with their friends’ PS4 related activity and “Content Information Screen,” which displays friends’ activity and information specific to the title the user is looking at. These features will be disabled on day one, Sony says that they will be switched back on after a few days, “once the intensity of launch day calms down.” All other PSN features will be available on launch day, including the ability to play online multiplayer games, live broadcast games, collect trophies and more.

PlayStation Network passwords resetting now as precautionary measure

As early as last week on the 20th of November, users of the PlayStation Network (aka PSN) have seen their passwords reset without prompt. According to Sony support forum admins, this reset was done “purely as a precautionary measure” without specific evidence of any accounts being compromised. Users who find their passwords not working are […]

Some North American PSN Passwords Reset After ‘Irregular Activity’ Detected

The launch of the PlayStation 4 didn’t go without a few bumps and bruises along the way as the day the console launched, PlayStation Network suffered from a number of issues that didn’t allow many owners of the new console to connect to upgrade the device. Sony resetting some PSN passwords as a ‘precautionary measure’

PSN users around the world have been booting up their various consoles only to be confronted with a message saying their passwords are incorrect. They’ve then had to go through the rigmarole of creating new login details, usually while still in the dark as to what happened to their accounts in the first place — and whether they might have been hacked. Sony has since put out an explanation via various official channels in the US, EU and Japan, saying that only “some” users have been affected and that the password resets are “purely a precautionary measure” for “routine protection.” We’ve contacted the company for clarification on its policy about contacting users individually in this sort of situation, and also to see if we can find out a little more about this “non-specific” threat to certain accounts.
