Qualcomm has just announced that it is introducing a line of Internet Processor (IPQ, the Q stands for Qualcomm) that will provide higher performance for connected devices like routers and other Internet appliances that may need to handle high data throughput. When we discussed with Todd Antes from Qualcomm-Atheros, he said that in Qualcomm’s own estimations, a number of Internet devices were limited by their network processing power, instead of their maximum theoretical bandwidth. Smartwatches are definitely the “in” thing in technology these days and if the recent wave of smartwatches have not managed to meet your criteria, fret not because Qualcomm’s own smartwatch, the Toq, will be seeing a release on the 2^nd of December (Cyber Monday) and will be priced at $350. This price makes it a tad more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Gear although we don’t know yet if the $50 price difference is justified or not. (more…)

Where mobile devices are concerned, Qualcomm’s normally a behind-the-scenes player, but that’s all set to change next month. The company has announced that its Toq smartwatch is coming to the market on December 2nd. Big Q had said that it would knock out a limited run of the hardware back in September, but unlike other next-gen wearables, this one wouldn’t be limited to a select few. Packing a Mirasol display, wireless charging and stereo Bluetooth audio, the Toq will set you back $350 — assuming that you haven’t already spent that amount of cash on its most immediate rival.
