It would appear that consumers are no longer headed to the tiny store of gadgets now that the internet and larger showroom stores have taken command. RadioShack has announced that … Continue reading
RadioShack To Close 20% Of Stores
Posted in: Today's ChiliI suppose you can pull a line from Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities”, where “it was the best of times, and it was the worst of times”, and apply it to the current economic climate around the world. While the economy might be recovering in certain countries, it does feel as though there is an underlying current that might just cause everything to collapse just like that. Companies like HTC have had it rough going for quite some time now, and it seems that struggling RadioShack will have to shutter one fifth of its stores after reporting a loss of $191.4 million in the fourth quarter of last year, which was worse than what analysts had expected.

Staying fit should be one of the things that are located at the top of our lists, especially when it comes to wanting to live a long and healthy life. Well, there are always gym memberships for you to purchase, but the kicker is, you would need to learn how to motivate yourself to keep on returning. Getting a personal trainer would also help, and if there are other cute guys or girls in the gym whom you would like to know better too, is an added incentive. However, there are always alternatives to make sure that you have a quantitative analysis on how fit you can be or should be, which is why the Fitbit Force is now up for pre-order over at RadioShack at $129.99.
The Fitbit Force is a new wireless activity device that also doubles up as a sleep tracker. It comes in a sleek form factor for a wristband, and will be able to share real-time statistics while tracking steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes and even how well you sleep. Sporting an OLED display, it shows off statistics throughout the day, where it will also be able to wirelessly synchronize to your computer or smartphone in order to track trends over time. There are two sizes to choose from, where you can track goals and progress on a daily basis in order to remain motivated on your path to healthy living.

Perhaps placing Amazon lockers right within the confines of a couple of its toughest competitors might not have been such a great idea after all. Several months ago, Staples and RadioShack agreed to add the online retailer’s lockers inside a few brick and mortar locations so that Amazon customers could choose to pick up their goods at the store instead of missing a delivery, with the host retailer getting a small fee in exchange. According to Bloomberg however, Staples and RadioShack have now decided to yank the lockers from their stores. Staples claimed the Amazon deal “didn’t meet the criteria” that was set up, while RadioShack stated that the lockers “didn’t fit with its strategy.” We can’t say we’re terribly surprised to see the rivals part ways, but hey, at least you can still find an Amazon locker in select 7-Elevens.

Amazon Lockers pulled from RadioShack and Staples following nixed partnerships
Posted in: Today's ChiliAs we reported last year, Staples agreed to place Amazon Lockers in its stores as part of a partnership that would perhaps be as beneficial for the retail chain as its online competitor. RadioShack also formed a partnership with Amazon, likewise putting the lockers in its stores, but now Bloomberg is reporting that both have […]
Loyal Engadget readers know that we don’t normally trouble ourselves with promotions, but this one is too wild to ignore. Until June 30th, RadioShack is offering the HTC One to AT&T and Sprint customers with an added bonus — a $100 credit for the Google Play store. Should you elect to sign up with Sprint, you’ll basically get away like a bandit since RadioShack has slashed the price of the handset to $79.99 for new activations — on two-year contracts, of course. After all is said and done, you would basically leave $20 richer than when you started (sort of). So, if you’ve been lusting after the HTC One but have held off on buying it, the universe might be trying to tell you something.

If you’ve been looking forward to getting your hands on the new HTC One Android-powered smartphone, you probably know the device was available as of last Friday. Both AT&T and T-Mobile began offering the HTC One on April 19. If you happen to have a local RadioShack location, you can also pick up the HTC One at RadioShack locations nationwide.
The benefit of picking up your HTC One from RadioShack is that the company is offering a nice extra. The big extra is that if you purchase the HTC One at a RadioShack location between now and June 1, you’ll get a $50 Google Play credit. That Google Play credit will go a long way toward getting you some new music, games, or other content to enjoy on your new smartphone.
RadioShack also has a Trade & Save Program that promises to make it easy to trade in your old phone for as much as $300 credit towards the new phone and accessories. RadioShack also gives buyers 24/7 Mobile Product Support at no cost with the purchase of mobile devices in stores. The $50 credit is available for buyers who opt for the HTC One on AT&T or Sprint.
The HTC One will cost you $199.99 at RadioShack when you register for qualifying two-year contract. Hardware wise, the HTC One from RadioShack is the same device you can pick up elsewhere. The phone is available with 32 GB of internal storage. AT&T will also be offering a version of the device with 64 GB of storage. However, RadioShack doesn’t mention if you can get the $50 Google Play credit on the 64 GB version.

RadioShack HTC One Ad Reveals $50 Google Play Bonus And $199 Sprint Pricing
Posted in: Today's ChiliComponent shortages have delayed the U.S. launch of HTC One. The manufacturer is obviously not happy about that, since unavailability of the product might see prospective customers shift their interest to other latest offerings such as the Galaxy S4, which too is yet to hit U.S. soil. HTC has got its marketing guns blazing nonetheless. The image shows HTC One signage that RadioShack is starting to receive and display on its stores. Promotional signs for both AT&T and Sprint versions are being received.
On a two-year contract with Sprint, the HTC One will cost $199.99. A couple of extras have been thrown in to sweeten the deal. Customers that sign up for a new two-year contract will receive a $50 Google Play gift card. RadioShack will also be shaving off $10 on the contract price of the HTC One, which then comes down to $189.99. As far as the other carriers are concerned, Verizon is not getting the HTC One, though recent rumors have us believing on the contrary, whereas T-Mobile is no longer in business with RadioShack. Does this sound like a good enough deal to you?

We mentioned this morning that RadioShack and Target were going their separate ways with regards to their mobile service operation as of April 8. The two retailers were unable to come to an agreement to continue operating their mobile services partnership moving forward. The reason given for the dissolution of the partnership between the two companies was financial.
That likely means RadioShack wanted more than Target is willing to pay. What we didn’t know this morning when we talked about the two companies parting ways in the mobile industry was that Target already had two other providers lined up to continue operating its Target Mobile service. Target has now announced that it has selected new service partners for Target Mobile including Brightstar and MarketSource.
Brightstar is the world’s largest specialized wireless distributor and is described as a diversified service provider for the wireless industry. MarketSource is a leading provider of integrated sales and marketing services for the wireless industry. Both of these companies will begin supporting Target Mobile in April of 2013.
Brightstar will be Target Mobile’s new supply chain and point of activation technology provider. MarketSource will be Target’s in store sales and services partner. Target says that its Target Mobile service will be going through transition period between now and April 8, 2013 to ensure little to no disruption in the guest experience during the transition.
